One of my favorite things about loving someone or developing a closeness or fondness towards someone is also loving and developing a fondness for the things they care about. OK I wanna talk about yamaguchi and kageyama now not necessarily romantic but could be. So obviously they're captain and vice captain respectively in third year. This means they spend a lot of time together. By third year they're all probably friends anyway so no big deal but I wanna talk about before that. So second year yamaguchi has mastered a jump float serve but he's worried that it won't be enough and somethings missing, he wants to add a different type of serve. Maybe in a game someone was able to receive it because they already expected a jump floater. So he goes to kageyama reluctantly since they didn't talk much as far as we know outside of yamaguchi and tsukishima tutoring him and hinata. And kageyama agrees to teach him how to do a regular jump serve and even maybe teaches him the serve he learned watching oikawa. During this time they spend some time together, form a bond become friends. If you ship them, I imagine this is when they'd start getting feelings for each other.
