one time my dad said a bunch of really really awful stuff to me during a fight so i didn’t talk to him for a year and ever since then he’s been nice to me because i finally got it in his head what would happen if he wasn’t but it’s not always that dramatic it’s usually more like. sometimes you need to tell someone “shut up, asshole” to their face sometimes you need to hang up in the middle of a phone call sometimes you need to shave your head sometimes you need to quit your job. unravelling knots only works for so long before you need to get the scissors
