The box is almost purely medical stuff based off of my surgeons recommended shopping list. There's additional stuff that I'm packing that is more normal "I'll be gone for a bit of time", but the recommended stuff from my surgeon is:
White vinegar, vaginal douche, perineal wash bottle, and baby soap: all for initial vaginal cleaning and douching, especially important when establishing the microbiome.
Nitrile gloves, Wet wipes, cotton gauze pads, and scar gel: cleaning and maintenance of sites not directly inside or around the neovagina, including in the nearby pubic are and laparoscopic incisions on the abdomen.
Pads: neovaginas have a fair bit of discharge in the early healing stages.
Chucks/mattress pads: so you don't wear pads when you sleep but can still handle discharge.
Sterile water soluble lubricant: needed in large quantities for dilation.
Donut pillow: helps sitting upright without having the surgical area directly contact what you're sitting on.
Pelvic support belt: keeps the surgical packing in the vagina before it's removed.
...plus some spare space for prescriptions I haven't picked up yet.
I've also added a couple other things that I've thought would be a good idea:
THC gummies: I've heard of other patients using weed gummies to help get off opiates earlier. I still need to clear it with my surgeon but it doesn't hurt to have them on hand.
Backup laxatives: for the first bit, you're basically on constant stool softeners to make sure nothing gets crammed into the pelvic space. Having a little extra beyond
Hand mirror: I mean. It's gonna look like a swollen mess for months but hey, I still want to know what she looks like.
Also stuff I'm bringing but not in the box cuz it doesn't fit:
Some foam support pillows bc I'm normally a side sleeper and this helps me sleep on my back.
Loose dresses to make sure there's plenty of space down there and I'm not agitating anything with tight clothes.
Various entertainment like a switch, a steam deck, and some books. I'm low-key dreading the boredom LOL
I got most of this information directly from my surgeon or other patients of my surgeon, details are def gonna vary. But hopefully that's a bit helpful!
