The Female Gaze by Emaline King
Once-forgotten 1920’s erotic art by an anonymous Czech artist, this and 32 other stunning watercolors were rediscovered and released in 1974 by an obscure London publishing house under the title “Kugelrunda“… they speak volumes about body positivity as the women featured clearly are comfortable with their bodies and revel in the abundant pleasures of their flesh.
Time for a lovely reblog!

An 1834 French political commentary, Statue Antique, by Charles Joseph Traviès de Villers, published in the satirical journal La Caricature. The image parodies the famous "Farnese Hercules" sculpture, replacing the classical hero with a satirical depiction of King Louis Philippe I of France. The caricature aims to mock the King as gluttonous and overweight (what’s wrong with a little overeating, I ask?), highlighting political criticisms of his reign. Nicknamed “the Citizen King” he was well regarded and ruled in an unpretentious fashion, avoiding the pomp and lavish spending of his Bourbon predecessors, until economic conditions and conservative advisers led to dissatisfaction and his abdication in 1848, making the last ever French king.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think the King cuts a bit of a monarchial profile here, sporting an impressive belly carried about by two stout but sturdy legs, looking strong, sturdy, and even a bit athletic. His other images don’t appear to have portrayed him as large as this and his record suggests some success, as well as failure, so he seems to create at least an interesting, if difficult to fully judge, figure of history.
Bicyclist Getting Stopped By A Huge Stomach, a popular 19th century lithograph featured in publications like Punch's Almanack. He seems to absorbed the hit quite well!

A fantastic 1950’s Spanish postcard of two beauties in the hills with the more striking of the two stating Ah! ¿Qué querés que diga... En las sierras me pongo agilisima...(meaning: "Ah! What do you want me to say... In the mountains/hills I get very agile...").
