1. book you’ve reread the most times?

without a doubt Catching Fire, i just finished my 5th official reread but i read it in pieces on a loop in anticipation of the movie coming out back in 2013 :p

3. what is your favorite genre?

horror and fantasy! i specifically love to read gothic horror, assorted dark fantasy, urban fantasy, folk tale/fairytale inspired fantasy, etc etc and everything is better with lesbians ofc

14. do you ever mark/dog year books you own?

noooo i’m one of those people who keeps their books v pristine as much as possible. however i don’t mind a messy used copy!! i just can’t bring myself to tarnish them at all but i try not to judge others who do. i’m very into books as physical objects, i’m a book designer myself, so i sort of cherish them

it's so insane to me that buffy just kind of casually mentions to riley in a random episode in season 4 that slayers don't make it past 25. there's a part of her that's just accepted it. i don't think she's actively suicidal yet, but she's no longer that 16 year old girl desperately insisting she doesn't want to die. as sad as that moment in prophecy girl is, it's also kind of hopeful, because it's still an instance of buffy valuing her life and autonomy and defying her horribly unfair destiny. there's something so much sadder to me about her having accepted the inevitably of her untimely death to the point that she casually brings it up in conversation.

btvs au where kendra survived drusilla’s attack and now there’s three slayers but kendra is still absent from the btvs narrative bc she is busy in her spinoff hunting drusilla across the globe. dru is psycho sexually obsessed with her and has offered to turn her at least five times.

so this is running under the assumption that kendra was in critical condition but somebody called an ambulance and she survived. and now all she can think is now what? like kendra is buffy’s shadow and she’s killed by buffy’s shadow. so what do you do if you survive that? the person who brought you here left and the thing that killed you is gone and you died!! your whole life you were defined by what you might be and then what you could do, as the tool of the watchers. you did everything right. you followed the rules, you came when you were called, and you died!! and you don’t want to do what you must anymore because you’re not the one girl in all the world. you never were. there are enough slayers to fight evil in the world and all you want to do is kill the thing that killed you, hoping it will kill that feeling of “still dead” in your bones.

and drusilla! you don’t know what it is to be by yourself. you were your father’s daughter, then angel’s child, a part of the scourge, and then spike’s partner. within the show, you weren’t even able to be the big bad for two episodes. you were knocked unconscious at the end of your story. your choices have often been limited or made for you and now this one act that is yours, that makes you a slayer of slayers, has been undone. it’s infuriating. it’s maddening. but at the same time it has broken the narrative role you both occupied. neither of you are buffy’s shadow anymore, there isn’t space for it. drusilla is being hunted for what she did. for what she is. this slayer hunting her is like a hammer to the last chains holding her to the past. she feels free and powerful and strong and everything that is not this slayer feels incidental. for the first time she understands why spike always said it was a dance.
