creature of the night

I started the original after reading the first half of TVL and I made a bunch of conscious artistic choices that I ended up regretting. Since the new season started and we're getting more human Lestat, I was inspired to take another crack at it with a reworked sketch and a larger canvas. I adjusted the dog and horse breeds to be more accurate (previously beaucerons and a percheron, changed to mastiffs and a thoroughbred). The dappling on the original horse was fun and interesting to do, but I'm really happy with how coppery and textured the new horse is coming out.

I think my grasp on Sam Reid's face has definitely improved! Love the guy but I find him a lot harder to draw than Jacob Anderson. I'm still not fully sold on the clothing though. The most recent episode put him in a brown coat but that would make everything in the painting brown. I like the red coat as a sort of foreshadowing to the wolfkiller cloak, but I'm concerned it looks a little to "regency sport hunter" and not "practical game hunter". I'm open to suggestions in the comments!
