Transgender woman faces two felony charges after drawing a firearm during an altercation.
A Wyoming transgender woman is facing two felony charges after drawing a firearm during an altercation she says began with anti-LGBTQ+ and a
RĆhanna Kelver, a bartender and trans rights advocate in Laramie, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent after a 13 September 2025 confrontation outside the Crowbar & Grill, whereshe worked. Kelver could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted on both charges.
Kelver says one man in a group of men across the street from her started shouting homophobic and transphobic insults at her before the man allegedly shoved her to the ground in a downtown crosswalk, as reported by The Laramie Reporter.
There's more, as it pertains to Black trans people's right to self-defence:
Despite Wyomingās āStand Your Groundā statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer. [...]
As pointed out by Slate, self-defense laws are often put into question when people from marginalized communities, especially trans people, use them, including Cece McDonald, a Black trans woman who served time in a menās prison for defending her friends during a racist and transphobic attack. Ky Peterson, a Black trans man from Georgia, was also arrested and imprisoned for killing his rapist in self-defense.

no no @nogoodhorsethief, you have something here
"Women are warm and nurturing and they have powerful intuitions!" is benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism upholds misogyny by praising women for things women are "supposed" to be good at and romanticizing roles women are "supposed" to play under a patriarchal system.
Also, like, benevolent sexist stereotypes are definitely used to make those who don't fit them feel like failures as women (especially queer women/trans women/woc/neurodivergent women/etc).
And on the flip side, they're also used to deny women who are skilled at those things credit for their accomplishments. It's easy for people to dismiss an excellent childcare worker when her "~magical gender intuition makes her naturally good at it~".
āBut I didnāt and still donāt like making a cult of womenās knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men donāt know, womenās deep irrational wisdom, womenās instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior ā womenās knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?ā

In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah itās one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink theyāll fix the fucking system.

āThere arenāt enough hours in a day.ā There are actually. The problem is that we think 40 hour work weeks are an unavoidable fact of life.
The problem is that everyone has to work 8 hours, pretty much no exceptions, and with getting ready time + (unpaid) lunch + commute, ā8 hoursā is actually anywhere between 9 and 12, every single day, with more work to do when you get home because our society and culture was built around having one member of the household home full time and nothing has changed now that almost everyone works.
No wonder Americans are reliant on DoorDash and fast food, thereās no time or energy to cook. No one wonder mental and physical health are in shambles, many just spent all day sitting in fluorescent lights with little to no stimulation. āJust wake up earlierā āJust meal prepā⦠these are ok short-term, individual solutions, but the broader, systemic issue is obvious. We arenāt built for this. Thereās no work-life balance. Genuinely, I think if our culture could normalize a shorter work week, many individualsā biggest problems would simply evaporate.
I have achieved the dream. I can live mostly comfortably on my part time income. (I make the same amount as my wife, but she has to work full time, or no health insurance for any of us).
I can not tell you the difference this has made in my physical and mental health, the cleanliness of my home, my capacity for parenting, and my access to creative work. It is simply better in every single way. I am a more pleasant, patient, well rested person. I'm a better friend and neighbor than I was before.
I haven't changed in any meaningful way. But my life circumstances now let me bring out the better version of myself far more often.
Look y'all, this reveal means so much to me. So many times in movies these days there are big reveals for the audienceās benefit that mean absolutely nothing in the context of the story or to the characters in it. Iām talking the Thanos cameo in the Avengersā stinger, Iām talking Benedict CumberKhan in Star Trek, Iām talking about every hackneyed āThis character is actually this other characterā when in universe nobody knows nor cares about their true identity.
But here? This reveal? This is a Big Reveal for us, Peter B Parker, and Miles, all on different levels. We and Peter both know Doc Ock is a portly dude, not a woman. We know the name Octavius⦠Otto Octavius. But when she says her name is Olivia Octavius weāre clued in to the fact that Doctor Octopus is a woman in this universe. And she has Peter captive.
Miles, if he was paying attention in science class earlier in the movie, would have known her name was Olivia Octavius, but that doesnāt mean anything to him, why would it? Liv has apparently been very good about keeping her supervillainy a secret. Sheās in educational videos shown in high-schools. So to Miles, the reveal here is this scientist lady, who he knew enough about to know was the head scientist at Alchemax, is a supervillain. He gets the reveal a second or two after Peter.
And the movie? It was dropping hints the entire time, confident in our expectations blinding is to the truth. Oliviaās name was partially visible when Miles got to science class. Her glasses are octagonal. The lights in her lab are octagonal. We know sheās working with the Kingpin. Why wouldnāt she be a supervillain? Because sheās hot? Hell, Peter even says he needs to reexamine his internal biases. Maybe he was telling us that we should too.
Itās a reveal for us, and for our heroes. It means something, both in-universe and out. And that makes it infinitely better than other similar reveals.
Iām not reading all that I want her to dissect me
