For the sketchpage: the Awful Teens (Affectionate) learning Gideon can talk?

broadly. the story starts with the Chosen One and their Bitter Rival (who is still on the same side as them, just has always had a contentious relationship with them) in the middle of losing the final battle against the big bad. chosen one is desperately trying to maintain a barrier against the oncoming magic, and the rival realizes what’s wrong with it and helps them. cue them having a bit of a “i never actually hated you yknow” moment of bonding as they both realize that they’re probably not going to make it out. rival comes out as a trans girl bc if she’s gonna die she might as well die as herself. chosen one admits to masking all the time and not really feeling like they have their own identity. they talk about a lot of things; the lives they’d have lived if things were different, what they’d do if they did survive. a world where they might’ve been friends.

I asked one of my (male) friends to stop using the phrase “man up” and he has been using “fortify” for the past two weeks instead and it’s just a little thing but honestly it makes a difference
