Marlene McKinnon | Hufflepuff Headcanons

Yep, there's a new order of things in my head about the Marauders Era and Marlene being Hufflepuff occupies so much of my headspace I decided to write it down. So here's a few disjointed things about her.

McKinnons are pureblood (for the most part), and same as much of pureblood families, it seems to be tradition being sorted in the same house as generations go.

McKinnons are natural caretakers. It translates in them being naturally good with magical creatures, plants and herbs, and healing. This is what leads them to help out during the war and turn their family farm/estate into a sort of refugee/hospital for muggleborns.

Marlene isn't particularly interested in Quidditch. She's good at it, and actually likes being active, but it isn't until somewhere along her fifth or sixth year, when the number of housemates starts going low, she realizes the power sports can have to lift people’s spirits.

Unsurprisingly, during her seventh year, she becomes Quidditch captain, and tries the very best to give her house hope, and offer a good distraction for all the darkness consuming her housemates.

A conversation overheard:

"Had I been a little braver, we might have been house mates." "Oh shut up, you are brave. You just also happen to be so much more." "Funny you said that when I have been feeling nothing but less and less."

(Torn as to whether she is talking with Lily, Remus or James. Only certain it isn't Sirius).

Her parents aren't particularly important or influential people in wizarding society, but because the terrains surrounding her house are very inviting to both magical creatures and plants, Slughorn always extends an invitation to his club to the family, just to keep a hefty flow of premium ingredients.

Is in sixth year when Marlene gets invited to join, she gets close to Lily, who has been going since her fifth year. Mainly, she approaches because she sees her uncomfortable surrounded by so many Slytherins.
