!STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5 SPOILERS!
When Nancy was washing her mother's blood off of her hands in the hospital it reminded me of Macbeth. In Macbeth, hand washing is a common occurrence; a motif that represents guilt. Nancy struggling to get the blood off her hands is a representation of her struggling to be complacent with her guilt over the situation. She knew what was going to happen, yet she failed to stop it like she's always pressured herself to. Over the last 18 months she's tucked away the problem until it finally caught up to her and she feels more than responsible for it.
