k but imagine Rocky wanting to learn about how humans became the apex predators of their planet so he has Grace “hunt” him in the biodome as an experiment and during it he thinks Grace isn’t trying or taking it seriously which is bad bad bad because this is for research purposes
only for Rocky to get more and more tired as the experiment goes on just to realize that Grace isn’t which makes him panic so he puts as much distance as he can between them and finds a (hopefully) safe spot to sleep and when he wakes up the human is crouching over him like “got youuu” and Rocky has never shrieked so damn loud before in his life
if i can add a layer to this i wanna headcanon that Erid did have persistence predators way way back in the day but were regrettably hunted into extinction (back when their science was more underdeveloped. erid may be better than earth in a lot of aspects but they're not perfect)
so the idea of an animal/predator that follows you slowly until you have no choice but to risk sleeping or die from exhaustion is basically the eridian equivalent of a campfire story
so when Rocky returns home with an alien who's a persistence predator (more than that, a persistence predator that conquered their planet this way) it's like he revived some eldritch monster believed to have been vanquished
Latest commission because apparently yall really liked transformer Ingo (there needs to be a transformer Emmet, i swear)
The goal was to make him look really huge! I even rewatched The Iron Giant for inspiration for this. still such a good movie omg!
Progress below!
ooughgh...
how old was he, when it all happened
he was so baby faced.

Anyway. ISOS AZ makes me happy.... I'm glad he makes other ppl feel happy too lol
pokopia tutorial sequence
I think a big part of the reason Pokopia is hitting so hard for so many people is that we have had an absolute glut of post apocalyptic media that take the "humans are the monsters/disease/problem" angle. Even the most well meaning solar-punk I can think of often have this undercurrent of 'humanity's nature is inherently short sighted and exploitive and they must constantly be kept in check to protect the environment' which slides very quickly into 'the world would be better off without humans in it to complicate and threaten things'.
But Pokopia fully does not do that. The world is lonely without humans and lesser for humanity's absence. So much of the game is about how Pokemon miss humans and are struggling to make sense of a world without us, how the ecosystem is just as hurt by our absence as any other species, and how the things we left behind, even in ruins and burned shells, are often beautiful and strange and helpful to the Pokemon who find them.
Pokemon have always been this allegory for the natural world- back to the original idea of the games inspired by children who caught bugs and kept ant farms- and thus the relationship between Pokemon and humans becomes this allegory for the relationship between nature and humans. And Pokopia looks you dead in the eye and says "the world would be poorer without humans, and if we all vanished tomorrow the echoes of who we are and the things we did would still ring out for eons uncountable. We would be missed and mourned and searched for and the wound of our absence would be deeply felt on this earth for the rest of its turning. The actions of a few greedy short sighted humans will never change that."
And that. That hits.
Me, pointing to the mirror: Do NOT become The Joker about this. This isn’t even a Condiment Man situation.
The way he's holding them here makes me feel conflicted. Like, this scene is terrifying and I can't imagine what's it like to be on a receiving end of it but... just look at it.
- he's holding Zooble in a way so that their parts don't fall out
- he's not squeezing Gangle so that her fragile ribbons don't get tangled
- he's not putting too much pressure on Ragatha so that she doesn't get ripped apart
- he's only holding Pomni and Jax firmly because their bodies are solid and rubbery
And this scene is right after the torture too. You would think he would be more violent, but no. He wanted to hurt them, not break them.
Caine wanted them to listen. And because they never did, he made them feel what he felt when they poked at his biggest fears and insecurities.
I guess what I meant to say is - even when at his worst, there was still something considerate in him. Something resembling the real him and not the angry monster he'd become.

didn't see anyone else make this yet so here you go
So..I had a thought.
What if AZ was racing against a clock he couldn’t see? What if instead of being immortal, he and Floette shared the collective energy that would’ve driven the lifespans of every Pokemon used when Floette was revived?
Some of them are long lived, but others aren’t. Because of the longer lived ones, he simply concluded that he was immortal and assumed he had forever. To search and to suffer.
What if, had anything gone different, had he evaded Lysandre longer, had he missed the parade..
He wouldn’t have ever reunited with Floette again? What if he hadn’t found her until 3,005 years instead, only to die with her in his withered arms?
His final breath a sob as he finally finds his beloved friend, only to close his eyes for the very last time?
…yall can shoot me I deserve it-
