Ams: Aria Chronicles

Picked my love bug up from daycare Monday night and there was another "incident". I get kids will be kids, things happen.... Blah blah. My baby having a second scratch incident with her face is different. Like seriously. Last time is was the director that told me what happened this time it was one of her teachers. The scratch is small and again she seemed unbothered. Its the principal. She's been there almost a year and now she's has 2 incidents in less than a month?? Yea, I feel some type of way. lol. I'm ultra protective over my baby.. I love her daycare but this really has me feeling some type of way. She will be one next month and since she was small I've considered a daycare closer to my job. So this week I will definitely look into them. I want to believe this was just an accident but I partially feel as though this could have been prevented.

To arrange a babysitter, then primp and prep for whatever party, pack up diaper bag, drop the kid off, drive into the city, pick the kid back up.....All just seems like to much work just to go out for an evening to be around people I don't like that well, in an establishment where the music will be too loud, and there's no real sense of interacting with others. I was a home body about 3 years before having Aria so people can't argue that she's the reason I stay in. I stay in because most of the events people invite me to aren't worth going to. If I'm going to sit in someone house. I can sit in my own damn house. I dislike clubs. And refuse to spend a lot of money to make other people pockets fatter. I enjoy being a mom. Yes things get hectic and sometimes I most definitely need a break, but going to a club isn't that break. Being out late. Isn't a break. Neither of those things sound relaxing or needed. Those are just things other people do for whatever reason they choose. If you want to do something with me let's find a new place to eat, or drink. Let's explore a new art exhibit or show.

I've been slacking on making posts.. Please don't shoot me. lol. When I'm home and could be writing, I'm staring at Aria in amazement. I can't believe she will be one soon. She's trying to walk & talk.... Motherhood, its unlike anything I've ever experienced. Last Friday picking her up from daycare I was informed that there was an incident and Arias face was scratched pretty badly by another kid. Instantly I was pissed. All sorts of thoughts were going through my head. "Why didn't I get a phone call about it" "Who did it" "what was don't to prevent this from happening again" all that great stuff. Aria seemed completely unbothered, she was note excited to see me and to go home. The director and I spoke about the incident for a fee moments before I left to go home. Once home I carefully looked her over and could tell it was a simply kids being kids, I relaxed some. We have been at the same daycare center since June and for this to be the first incident or any sort, I can't go all ballistic now. The next day I took her back to daycare one of the teachers that witness the incident was there and she explained to me in detail what happened and apologized for not paying closer attention. She reassured me that the little boy was remove from the class and would not be back in the infants room, which was a major relief. I get that kids will be kids but when it comes to your child you're ready to attack. At least I was. lol.

At home cooking dinner and playing with Aria. She's chasing after me but crawling, I'm letting her catch me then attacking her with tickles. Suddenly she pulls herself up on one of the kitchen chairs, starts smiling and takes two steps towards me free handed. Absolutely the high light of my day. At ten months she is definitely on the move. A baby with a mission. It's amazing watching her grow and discover the world around her. She has no boundaries. No fears. She just lives. Its beautiful most times I am just in awe.

About ten weeks til my love bug is an year old and today I totally got why people say the first birthday is for the parents. Just checked out the venue and confirmed my parry reservations and I became so giddy. lol. I have been pinning first birthday party ideas for weeks. Now that I have a venue with an indoor/ outdoor option I feel as though the rest should be easy. Although I get why parents go above and beyond for their kids birthday parties my finances just aren't set up that way and she won't remember any of it anyway. I have a number of DIY projects to do for the party but other than that in should come in way below what I've been told I'll spend. Can't spill all the beans then I won't have much to tell when her birthday actually arrives. More to come.

So for Thanksgiving my love bug was teething really bad then the week of Xmas she got an ear infection. The night before I took her to the doctor was awful. She would scream if I tried to lay her down, she kept tugging at her left ear, in pain and sleepy so completely confused. Seeing my child so uncomfortable and in pain tore me up on the inside. The following day I called the doctors office and luckily they had an opening for that afternoon. After the doctor examined her her confirmed it was an ear infection and prescribed pain meds and antibiotics for her. We sat and talked about her symptoms for a while and I explained to him that she never had a fever and last night was the first time she was in so much pain. He comforted me and explains that with ear infections there may not always be a fever. Prior to this incident I read several articles about ear aches, what symptoms to look for and what to expect. Glad I did because when she refused to lay down I knew it had to be an infection but since she had no fever the doctors office provided the confirmation I needed. Still on the antibiotics but she's feeling much better.

Me and my kiddo has been on our breastfeeding journey for 9 months..... And now the nursing questions have begun. *Are you still nursing" "how much longer are you going to nurse" "when are you going to wean her". Maybe they are just curious.... Idk but our journey will end when we are ready. Society always sees fit to question someone else. I freaking hate it. Its even more annoying when it comes from someone that has never nursed. Why does it matter? As long as she happy and healthy that is all I care about.

Had an interview for a promotion at my job. Things were going pretty well until it was time to ask any questions I had. The first three questions the manager that interviewed me was unable to answer because he has not been at the branch that long. My fourth question was simple, "What arrangements will be made for me to pump during my shift?" He damn near choked at my question. After clearing his throat he said that I could pump in any one of their three restrooms. Annoyed, I politely informed him that federal law requires employers to provide nursing moms with a room to pump in, that isn't a bathroom. I am very proud to be a breastfeeding mom and take it very seriously. For someone to eben think to suggest I pump in a bathroom is ridiculous. I wanted to ask him did he makes his babies bottles in a bathroom? Or prepared any meals in his bathroom? Just the thoughtlessness was enough to make me not want to work with him. In short, know what is or isn't allowed. Don't allow your employer or anyone else to force you to pump or feed in a bathroom.

I can post this and laugh. Lawd knows I have never been a kid person but having Aria gave me a completely new outlook on life. She's not even a year yet but I couldn't imagine my life without her. I'm grateful for her presence and smile. Being single, working a few jobs and having my own place, a car & only me to worry about was cool. Being a mother, with a remarkable daughter that watches my every move is even better. #AmsAriaChronicles
