Did anyone else feel deeply uncomfortable with the makeover trope as a kid. Like the Before always looked a lot like me or at least closer to what I looked like than the After and all I could think was "I like looking like me. What's wrong with looking like me?"

Maybe I like wearing glasses and dressing in a more gender neutral or even masculine way. Maybe I don't need anyone to come along and change the way I look so everyone can see how beautiful I am. Maybe I don't feel like there's anything wrong with me. Maybe I actually feel really fucking uncomfortable if I have to present femininely to the point where being seen like that feels like torture and I can't fully enjoy being alive like that because every moment my thoughts are filled with "this isn't me this isn't me this isn't me this isn't me this isn't me this isn't me this isn't me"

actually people should address this in fanfic more because “i know we could half-ass it, but i would never fake mistreat my fake husband, how dare you” is absolutely delightful
