the thing about the fandom experience is that it becomes p clear that the art itself is very secondary to the experience of a community or in-group to a lot of ppl

what i mean with this ig is that there r ppl that seem to be way bigger fans of fandom than the thing itself

i wanna add, i dont think there is anything particularly wrong with this per say. ofc ppl r desperate to be a part of a community and use their hobbies as a vehicle to find similar likeminded individuals that share their interests. it can even be a necessary social space for many. it just really does shape the reality of it and how it all operates, and i just especially dislike when it turns these spaces meant for discussing a piece of art into high school parodies lol. and ofc, if ur main desire is to actually prioritize analysis of a text for what it is… well…
