To all my black followers and friends, stay safe.
Have I told yâall about my husbandâs Fork Theory? If I did already, pretend I didnât, Iâm an old.
So the Spoon Theory is a fundamental metaphor used often in the chronic pain/chronic illness communities to explain to non-spoonies why life is harder for them. Itâs super useful and we use that all the time. But it has a corollary. You know the phrase, âStick a fork in me, Iâm done,â right? Well, Fork Theory is that one has a Fork Limit, that is, you can probably cope okay with one fork stuck in you, maybe two or three, but at some point you will lose your shit if one more fork happens. A fork could range from being hungry or having to pee to getting a new bill or a new diagnosis of illness. There are lots of different sizes of forks, and volume vs. quantity means that the fork limit is not absolute. I might be able to deal with 20 tiny little escargot fork annoyances, such as a hangnail or slightly suboptimal pants, but not even one âyou poked my trigger on purpose because you think itâs fun to see me melt downâ pitchfork.
This is super relevant for neurodivergent folk. Like, you might be able to deal with your feet being cold or a tag, but not both. Hubby describes the situation as âIt may seem weird that I just get up and leave the conversation to go to the bathroom, but you just dumped a new financial burden on me and I already had to pee, and going to the bathroom is the fork I can get rid of the fastest.â
I like this and also I like the low key point that you may be able to cope with bigger forks by finding little ones you can remove quickly. A combination of time, focus, and reduction to small stressors that can allow you to focus on the larger stressor in a constructive way.

Anyone can help!
(Real pen the last picture)
It is important for EVERYONE to know how to help ANYONE. Not everyone can give them selves their medicine under every circumstance. Be educated, help out.
In the last year, i have gotten about five new violent allergies from foods i used to be able to eat. Next time i eat a fruit, my throat could close. I may not be able to inject myself. My boyfriend and i played with my trainer pen for like 30 minutes. He knows how to inject it. I know how. This is important.
Also, and this is also very important, an EpiPen CAN go through clothes!
Never normalize Nazis.
I hate _% of people statistics being used like âoh itâs such a small numberâ cause 1% is a small number but 1% of 7 billion is 70 million. Thatâs more than the population of the UK, France or Italy.
6% of the US is 19 million, as stated above. There are only 3 states that have over 19 million people in them. 19 million is the population of the entire state of New York. Thatâs more than half the population of California.
Taking populations and turning them into percentages is okay until you try to say âoh thatâs not a lot of peopleâ but the reality is⌠Thatâs millions. Thatâs enough to be its own country. Thatâs fucking scary.
For comparison, thatâs 3 neo-Nazis for every Jew in the country. Without allies, we donât stand a chance.

My school: weâre completely accessible đ
Also my school: our handicapped parking is at the other end of the school, our doors make wheelchair users have bruised hands because they can barely fit through the door, we locate all of our enterences on top of steep hills, and our classrooms are too small for anyone not able to walk without a mobility aid to access
the fact that you have to have a diagnosis to get any help/accommodation is so ableist. getting a diagnosis can take months or even years
The worldâs tiniest dragon must defend his hoard, a single gold coin, from those who would steal it.
Suggestion: The dragonâs definition of âstealâ is somewhat loose. It still allows the coin to be used and bartered and change handsâbut on one condition: the dragon must be with it at all times.
They become a familiar sight in the marketplace.
âHereâs your change, ma'am. One gold piece.â The merchant holds out a palm, on top of which rests a tiny, brilliantly colored creature clutching a single gold coin.
âThatâs a dragon,â you say dumbly. âOne piece⌠and a dragon.â
âYes.â
You cautiously reach out and attempt to take your change. You tug. It holds. You tug harder. The dragon lets loose a tiny, protective growl.
âMa'amâno, ma'am, you have to take the dragon, too.â
âSorry?â
The seller notes your dubious expression. âNot from around here, are ya?â They shrug. âThemâs the rules. Take the coin, take the dragon.â
They wait expectantly. Wondering how the world has so suddenly gone mad, you slowly, slowly hold out your hand.
The dragon perks right up. It scampers from their palm to yours with the coin clamped in its jaws and scales your sleeve with sharp little claws.
âHave a nice day, ma'am,â the merchant says. âSpend him soon, now, you hear? At another booth, if you can. He likes to travel.â
From its perch upon your shoulder, the dragon lets out a happy trill.
Bonus: the coin eventually passes to the rogue in a group of travelling adventurers. The dragon becomes the mascot of the entire group, and they lay out a small pile of coins for him to sleep on every night, clutching his coin like a teddy bear.
This is so pure I am in love

feminism (and other social justice movements) is worth absolutely nothing unless it is intersectional
praising the whole idea of the independent woman who doesnât need to rely on anyone is all well and good for you abled folks
but for disabled women like me, its unobtainable.
abled people need to make the effort to include us in their social justice movements because most of us do need help in some form or another.

After a period of sadness, happiness doesnât jump into your life. it grows back slowly in the crevasses of your soul, like small plants which sprout in cracked concrete; it creeps softly up to you until eventually itâs walking by your side, so quietly you barely even notice.
