Something I absolutely love is not caving into the pressure of "you HAVE to watch popular gay show the writing is actually competent and they won't ruin it this time" and being like "hmmm I don't know... I watched popular gay show before and it turned bad..." only to much later get your door knocked on and it's your mutuals crestfallen and you get to be like "let me guess. it turned bad."
The energy on the dash... Let me guess
here's two articles about how JK Rowling just posted on X an upskirt photo of Freda Wallace, a transgender woman, after deadnaming her and misgendering her repeatedly online.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Rowling posted the picture taken from below because the trans woman, she said, was "refusing to debate me."
Thank you for posting without the fucking destiel meme
local matchmaker losing it over yet another unrealistic demand from the clientele 🤣🤣

for years uttarakhand has been celebrating the festival of harela: the day of green.
this year i cannot celebrate it. i am too angry. i am too heartbroken.
the kumaon region has honoured this day for generations, and so have parts of himachal pradesh. this festival was a relationship between the people and their mountains. and our government has taken that relationship and turned it into a performance and a photo op, while the real forests burn and fall around us.
the delhi-dehradun expressway was built to reduce travel time between the two cities—something the citizens never asked for, only the tourists did. this pathetic expressway instead opened the floodgates to the overtourism that has already been severely prominent in uttarakhand for the past few years. thousands of trees have been cut, wildlife has been pushed out of the only homes it has ever known, all of it sacrificed in the name of "development", as if that one word can launder what has been done here.
and now this. locals have already reported fresh tree felling inside the iconic 'saat mod' (7 bends) of the dehradun reserve forest. the government plans to completely straighten this legendary, scenic ecosystem just to facilitate a bit faster tourist movement. i genuinely don't have words for how much this hurts, and i don't have words for how much this enrages me.
so today, on the 15th of july, we are not celebrating harela. we stand and mourn it. today we observe black harela.
black harela is a citizen-led protest and mourning movement rising out of dehradun, born directly out of this contradiction, the state government pushing massive tree felling projects, like the widening of the bhaniyawala-rishikesh highway, while running state-sponsored tree planting pr campaigns on the very same festival meant to honour these forests.
today, instead of the usual festivities, we wear black, we gather peacefully, we mourn openly and publicly for the thousands of mature trees that have been cut down, trees that cannot be replaced by a sapling planted for a press photo. we are angry about the destruction of ecological zones and elephant corridors across the shivalik forests. we refuse to accept that a few saplings can undo the loss of old growth trees that took decades, and in this case, centuries, to grow.
harela was never meant to be a hashtag for the government to hide behind. it has always been a promise from the people to the mountains that we call home. we are done watching that promise get broken just so that some of the most beautiful cities of uttarakhand can be developed enough to be "virtually a part of NCR".
our times have given us more than enough reason to protest, for our right to breathe, our right to live with dignity, our right to protect the environment, the ecosystems, the forests and the mountains upon which our survival depends.
if you are not angry, you are not paying attention.
i ask my friends, wherever you may be, to join this movement and support #blackharela.
Only temples will be there in India. Temples and Ayurvedic hospitals. In fact a few months earlier there was an advertisement playing on the radio about ayurvedic treatments for cancer. We will have ethanol blended petrol in cars and vehicles, which will damage the engine- we will have a political genocide through SIR, we will have death camps set up for "ghuspethiyas" , our ports will be sold and exam papers will be leaked, students will commit suicide, our farmers will commit suicide, and thousands of people will die in heat. People will be lynched in broad daylight, and women will be told marital rape is not a thing; but by Gods we will have Ram and we will have temples.
The regime is now demolishing universities too.
The Rampur Development Authority has ordered the demolition of 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University over alleged approval violatio
The Rampur Development Authority (RDA) has ordered the demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, alleging that they were constructed without the required approvals from the competent authority, drawing criticism over the alleged selective targeting of the institution and its potential impact on students. The university, run by the Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust chaired by jailed former Uttar Pradesh minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, has been given 15 days to remove the allegedly unauthorised structures, failing which the authorities will carry out the demolition. The demolition order was issued on Wednesday by Rampur District Magistrate and RDA Vice-Chairperson Ajay Kumar Dwivedi under Section 27 of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973. According to the RDA, a scrutiny of official records found that only the university's medical college building and one academic block had valid building approvals. The remaining 38 buildings, covering a total built-up area of 82,309 square metres, were allegedly constructed without permission from the competent authority. District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said, "The buildings of Jauhar University were constructed in Gram Singhan Kheda, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rampur Development Authority (RDA).
Officials said the buildings stand on land where their present use is not permitted under the applicable land-use regulations and that the violations cannot be regularised under existing law, making demolition the only legally permissible course of action. The order followed notices issued on June 28 and 29 to the secretary of the Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust and the university registrar after a complaint was received. The respondents submitted a joint written reply on July 8, and representatives of the university appeared before the authority on Wednesday to present their case. The university argued that the land was outside the jurisdiction of the Rampur Development Authority when the buildings were constructed. However, the RDA rejected the contention, holding that approval from the competent authority was mandatory under the Zila Panchayat Act and other applicable laws even before the area came under the authority's jurisdiction. The order also cited Supreme Court judgments on unauthorised constructions, observing that such violations warrant strict enforcement of the law. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that the demolition process does not adversely affect students enrolled at the university. The Regional Higher Education Officer and the District Inspector of Schools have been asked to set up counselling camps on the campus to guide students and help safeguard their academic interests. Mukrim Rawl, a fourth-year B.A. LL.B. student of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, appealed to the authorities to halt the proposed demolition, expressing deep concern over its impact on thousands of students pursuing their education at the institution.
In a letter addressed to the chief minister, the student said the demolition, if carried out, could severely disrupt the education of a large number of students who had invested years of hard work, time and resources in completing their studies. (...)
The regime is now demolishing universities too.
efforts towards a "positive vision of masculinity" or whatever are so funny because what these guys are trying to figure out is literally "what's a way of being a good person that's Not For Girls™"

We're at the "JK Rowling is personally funding litigation to try and destroy AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" stage of rabid UK terf brain.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*
You can read an archived version of the report here, please save it and share it.
*Not so friendly reminder there is no way to engage in the wizard books without enabling this shit.

Have you heard that the UK government has made the IRGC revolutionary guard corp a prescribed terrorist organisation, so expressing support could get you up to 10 years in prison
No but I'm not surprised
Shabana Mahmood will use new powers to ban support for the group, which has been linked to death threats and intimidation on British soil.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will be designated a threat to national security.
Mahmood will use new government powers to ban support for the group, which has been linked to death threats, attacks and intimidation in the UK.
In a written statement to Parliament, she set out how support for the IRGC, from expressing a positive opinion to assisting them, will now be an offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
Two other groups are also being proscribed, the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR), and the volunteer corps of Russia's GRU (foreign military intelligence agency).
New powers will be given to police and intelligence agencies to tackle espionage, foreign interference, sabotage and physical attacks from these groups.
Iran's IRGC is believed to have directed seven attacks at UK locations linked to Jewish and Israeli communities, including the antisemitic arson attack on four Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green on March 23, which the IMCR publicly claimed responsibility for.
