Ukrainer: Speaking about our society and its transformations, actually, talking with the fighters of the 72nd recently, many noted that when the brigade was in the Kyiv direction, the local population helped. There were many partisans, people who gave up positions, helped in every way. They gave up Russian positions. Yes. Helped, joined the fight. And it was widespread. Servicemen of other brigades themselves talk about the Chernihiv region, Sumy, Okhtyrka. But if we talk about Mariupol or the Vuhledar direction now, Donetsk region, there are not isolated cases where, on the contrary, people still point out our [Ukraine’s] military positions to the enemy [Russia]. In your opinion, why is there such a sharp difference?
Mykhailo Vasyliovych Drapatyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Well, my opinion is that we need to work with the civilian population, conduct explanatory work and hours of patriotic education. Then this won't happen when everyone realizes the danger from the enemy. Everyone will act in the interests of their state, including the Armed Forces. But apparently, not everyone realizes that the Russian Federation is the aggressor, the enemy, which aims, among other things, to destroy our nation. The Donetsk and Luhansk regions, unfortunately, throughout their history, for the most part, consisted of migrants and criminal elements. That's why there is such an unconscious population there. This is my opinion. You can agree or not, but apparently, too little attention was paid to Ukrainization there. And we have this result. This is a complex issue. Educational work, work of our special services for timely detection. Yes, this is a problem today. But this problem can be solved. For some reason, people want some kind of freebies. They lack something, they have some dissatisfaction, envy, they don't want to work. At first, I thought maybe it was made up, but no, it's true. Communicating, I observed this situation. And indeed, in its essence, I won't say the majority, but a very significant number of this contingent do not want to work, they want freebies, and they don't care which country they live in or what it's called.
