And Hinata is an idiot. Kageyama canât stand him. He canât stand seeing all that wasted potential, so he uses it for himself. But then sometimes Hinata smiles at him, or says something stupidly inspiring like promising to defeat him after ten or twenty years, and Kageyama thinks that maybe he doesnât hate the idiot at all. Hanâs Opinion: I read this fic because it came up on my dash when I was up at 5am this morning because I couldnât sleep and Iâm really glad I did because it was really cute and just !!! I love how in depth it goes and the development is so great aaaaa AO3 Link

He sometimes felt a warm feeling in his chest when he thought about how someone out there could only see the world the same way he did. That is, until he feels the burning of the colors on his cheeks, and the coolness past his fingertips, and he realizes how much of the world was blurred into itself until he saw him. Hanâs Opinion: This is one of those fics that reads so beautifully that I canât really resist it. The beginning got me so hooked, itâs unreal (maybe Iâm just a sucker for prose and expertly crafted descriptions) and this is actually a really nice fic and I just love soulmate aus so !!! AO3 Link
Title: of the moonless nights Author: LydiaOfNarnia ( @oikawa-chans) Rating: Teen & Up Pairings: Tsukkiyama, Daisuga, Kagehina, Iwaoi Words / Chapters: 51835 / 9 Summary: Tsukishima Kei ought to have known better than to wander into the woods alone at nightfall; legends of monsters that lurked in the night had long haunted his little village, originating centuries before he was even born. Heâd always written these tales off as things of fiction; that is, until the night he comes face to face with a boy with too many freckles and fangs straight out of a monster legend. Hanâs Opinion: I speak from personal experience when I say that Tsukki here is a pretty hard character to write. (If you thought it was easy, well then jokeâs on you!) And I think this fic pretty much nails it. Itâs hard creating the right balance of witty sarcasm and⌠ya know actual character things, and this is a great example of when itâs done right. (Iâve seen it done wrong. Iâve seen it done wrong in my own work). Also this is just a really cool AU overall. AO3 Link

tumblr meme culture is really just a form of neo dadaism
Iâd like to clarify:
dada was a largely european art movement that took place after wwi. this time and place is not a coincidence. let me explain.Â
dada art made no sense. the artists who made dada lived in a world in which nothing made sense - in which conventional logic led to the senselessness of a world war. so, making art that made no sense, making - well, you canât really call it art, so making ANTI-art that rejected the conventions that brought about that atrocity in the first place - it made total sense. (if that makes any sense.)
so the artists did weird things. new things! putting things that were already made together and calling it sculpture, cutting up bits of pictures and putting them together and calling that something to frame - this site has some nice examples.
but from my perspective - thereâs serious intellectual continuity between the absurdity of attaching a bunch of tacks to the bottom of an iron, rendering it useless, and sayâŚ. bath bomb posts. Put a fucking macbook in a bath. itâs useless now. Nobody fucking cares anymore. you want something funny? you want a punchline? gun. thatâs your punchline. Take it. I am laughing
in a way it could be a method of venting some of the frustration and hopelessness and dissatisfaction that tumblrâs userbase (largely, disenfranchised millennials) feels in the modern day. I canât really speak for anyone else, but⌠at least from a US perspective, thereâs plenty to be disillusioned about. growing up in a constant state of questionably justified war, income inequality, an economic recession caused by the actions of a handful of wealthy fucks who didnât even get properly punished, growing awareness of police brutality, being called lazy and self-absorbed by the generations that gave us these problems in the first place⌠I canât help but think that these factors (and more) could produce a similar mindset to the one that precipitated the first dada movement.Â
so of COURSE we make nonsense jokes. itâs a coping mechanism for a world which doesnât make any sense.

Hereâs what fanfiction understands that the Puppies donât: inversion and subversion donât ruin the story â they just give you new ways to tell it, and new tools to tell it with. Take a platonic relationship and make it romantic; thereâs a story in that. Take a romantic relationship and make it platonic; thereâs a story in that, too. Take a human and make her a werewolf; take a werewolf and make him human. Donât try and sidle up on hurt/comfort like itâs something youâre ashamed to be indulging in; embrace the tropes until you have their mastery. Take a gang of broken souls surviving the apocalypse and make them happy in high school; take a bunch of funny, loving high school kids and shove them in the apocalypse. Like Archimedes, fanfic writers find the soul, the essence of what makes the characters real, and use it as a fulcrum on which to pivot entire worlds, with inversion/subversion as their lever of infinite length.
