I agree with you. But I also feel like there are other things to consider too
That person was definitely in the wrong for using someone's translations without crediting them or getting permission. On that, I agree. It's horrible and akin to stealing. They should definitely credit and apologize to op.
And, not posting negative character opinions in the tags is a courtesy/ etiquette thing, so others who like the character won't have to see it.
BUT, all these people dragging them and calling them names for not liking a genre / character and having an opinion about it is also weird to me. Like imagine being rude to a real person, just because they were rude to a fictional character. Where did the 'fiction is not reality' concept go?
Again, what I'm saying is there's room for negative opinions if done right. Don't steal, and try to avoid official tags. But, people should also learn to scroll past opinions (about fictional characters) they don't like instead of insulting a real person over it. People are allowed to voice their opinions, people are allowed to try out things they're not sure about, even if they end up disliking it. It's part of the process. Not everything is for everyone.
(applause) I like how you put it.
It's not uncommon for people to express shock at the fact that a game with the titleย Villainsย shows people with very questionable morals and even criminals. The game contains topics that can be quite dark and very disturbing. Well, duh...
As many have said, there is a lot of different content in the game, so everyone can find something for themselves. So obviously there are many things that you might find disturbing or even disgusting.
I won't lie โ I haven't read the post fully, but I read itโฆ diagonallyโฆ You know how to do that, right? And I got the impression that this person was mostly shocked by Kate's reactions. And I want to use a line that Victor is probably already ashamed of ever saying:
What for one is a r***, for another is foreplay. The same words might sound terrible to one person, while for another they are something that turns them on. We cannot judge other people's boundaries by our own standards.
Actually, I talked to friends about it. This person took a lot of time, went through several resources to prepare that post. So I don't see them as a hater โ more as a disappointed fan. So much passion. No one would spend their energy and time on something they hate. I don't knowโฆ Maybe I'm the only one avoiding that. Don't like it? Look the other way. As simple as that.
A very long time ago, I stopped looking at posts by hashtags because I saw too many jokes that, to be fair, portrayed my favorites in NOT the best light. I cannot make people see them the way I see them โ it's a total waste of time to even try. I cannot tell people not to do that. It's not my place to decide. So why do something that only brings ME negative emotions and, as a result, won't change anything? That's why I choose NOT to see that content. It was made for someone else.
The same goes for the game. There are things made for you, and others made for someone else. I have my quirks; others might find them odd, and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with that.
BUT... if a game brings you ONLY negative emotionsโฆ maybe it wasn't made for you. The only problem here is being able to just let it goโฆ
There are unwritten rules
People like to see ONLY positive/fun stuff. For them, we use standard hashtags โ game, characters, and such.
And to avoid making other people feel bad, annoyed, or angryโฆ if you write something negative, don't use the main hashtags, or add "hatred", "ramble", or something similar โ preferably as the first line of the post AND the first hashtag. So only people who are ready to see it will see it.
That way, you can express the emotions boiling inside, helping yourself, and not cause problems for others.
And yes, I agree that the wave of hatred toward this person is a huge overreaction. It really makes us look like birds that kill the injured ones. And that's not nice. They did a wrong thing, and there are people who calmly pointed out to them how wrong they are. Why push further? Why escalate hatred?
Let's be kinder to each other. This world is full of shit, and it would be nice to feel that we are protected from it at least here.
And posting part of someone else's content without permission or links is the same as stealing. My opinion on that part will never change.
