That sinking feeling when someone in The Discourse agrees with you but much more vitriolically and full of personal insults and you just know that the only conversation on the topic happening from here on out is people dunking on them.
Ed and Stede looking at each other in a way that makes me go insane [7/∞]

i don't think we as a fandom talk enough about how Ed and Stede can canonically wear each other's clothes comfortably. absolutely they share their closet and wear each other's clothes all the time (and in fact only still call some clothes "Ed's" or "Stede's" so they can get a kick out of swapping sometimes) and encourage each other to try new fashion they're nervous about by saying "that would be a great addition to our collection!" and they're so sweet about it. there's something so intimate and sweet about these two guys who both really enjoy clothes getting to share and enjoy fashion with each other to the point where all their nice clothes are just theirs instead of belonging to one of them
sent this message to my coworker today and he sent me this screenshot with microsoft teams's suggested replies... incredible 10/10 no notes.

absolutely hate it when the pleasurable activity procrastination hits. i’m going to do something fun that brings me joy but not yet. yeah, not yet. not yet. maybe i shouldn’t do it at all, it’s not that fun
finally watched our flag means death. doodled this between seasons so it does not quite fit my current mood but nevertheless

A lot of the guys are sweethearts deep down. They're just dealing with a fair amount of trauma. Creative projects give them a chance to work through it. And maybe even share a bit of what's going on inside 🙂 ~ Stede Bonnet

wrt Izzy and his leg for me the thing to remember is this. when Ed shoots him it's BIG and SERIOUS and it comes right after Ed pointing a gun at his own face. we're very clearly meant to understand "oh Ed is doing very very bad right now." it's very serious bc it's very out of character for Ed to shoot a crew mate. it is a very clear indicator that Ed has reached his breaking point, he's no longer willing to listen to Izzy talk about Ed's feelings and he's completely fed up and above all else he is absolutely miserable. the guy we know who in season 1 just smiled when Izzy was yelling in his face about how much they needed a plan is completely unwilling to do this anymore. it's serious.
but also and this is essential: immediately after Ed exits the scene Izzy's rotten leg becomes a comedy bit. a big portion of the comedy in s2.2 is rotten leg centric. Jim and Archie are making out with it right there. just as the actual scene where Izzy's shot is meant to be serious the scenes afterward are clearly meant to be funny. it's only serious as long as Ed treats it seriously, bc Ed's a main character and his emotional stakes are central to the story, but the second it's done it ceases to matter until he once again enters the scene and Izzy's scenes become serious again as Ed asks Izzy to kill him. it only matters for the story when it matters for Ed.
and that's just how ofmd rolls. Izzy's not even the only character whose rotten limb is used as a gag, they did the same thing with Lucius' finger in season 1. the emotional stakes are huge! the physical stakes are not.
people in the ofmd fandom love to judge everything characters-who-are-not-Ed do through the framework of them being pirates who kill people for a living, and everything Ed does through a framework of him being anything but a pirate. so when he does anything violent it gets dissected and taken completely out of context and given very stupid labels.
is it bad to cut off your employee's toes and feed them to him? well, yeah. obviously if I went to work tomorrow and my boss fed me my own toes I'd have some complaints. but I also have not tried to kill my boss' boyfriend multiple times or gotten the entire company arrested. I work in an office.
if you are a pirate captain and your first mate tries to kill your boyfriend multiple times and gets everyone arrested and then has the audacity to be a dick to you about it... well at that point you-the-pirate-captain would be pretty justified in just straight up killing him. anything short of that is weirdly merciful, actually.
and if he specifically requested that you go back to being the type of guy who feeds people their own toes for a laugh, then showing up at his bedside with a comically large pair of scissors is funny as hell.
