Sometimes I read biographies of women in history and explain them to my kindergarten-aged sister as I go. When I started to talk her through the Harrison biography of Joan of Arc, she got very excited. I asked her why and she said she didn't know girls could be warriors. Our favorite Joan quote: "I am not afraid. I was born for this."
As it happens, she had a similar reaction with James Berry vis a vis female doctors. Please don't take away the figures little girls can look up to :(
Truly, everyone that got angry about pussy hats was an idiot
Gen-Z: *blocks every feminist they come across on the internet*

(via Turkish woman allegedly kills abusive husband, becomes social media icon)
“Will women always die? Let some men die too,” Dogan told police. “I killed him for my honor.”
Since it was not included in the article, I thought I would provide a rough translation of her historical defense on court;
“When men wear suits and look down they get their sentences lowered; I dont have a suit, my mom barely managed to find this shirt for me. I won’t lie, there is also the joy of being able to survive that i can’t conceal. I’ve walked the corridors of these courthouses countless times, my face covered in bruises, for a restraining order. I didn’t have any other choice. If he hadn’t died, I was going to. He wasn’t going to tell you he had decided to pimp me out, he wasn’t going to talk about his plans of putting me in the arms of other men, he wasn’t going to tell you about the beatings I endured just because the eggplants were slightly overcooked, because the curtains were dirty, because there were leftover crumbs on the table. He wasn’t going to mention how many times I was hospitalized. There is a picture of me taken in the teahouse. I’ve smiled a bit lopsidedly. Maybe he was going to show you that picture and tell you I looked like a dishonorable woman. He was going to tell you he ‘cleansed my honor’ as if he wasn’t planning to pimp me out. You were going to sentence him to 3-5 years and pardon him because i had dishonored him and see my lopsided smile as provocation and feel sad for him. However, honor is mine Mr. Judge, I won’t leave it to anyone else just because I signed a paper.”
her name is Çilem Doğan and she was sentenced to 15 years for this. the court initially wanted to give her life imprisonment. she was released on bail in june 2016 and has since become a symbol for the movement against femicide and violence against women in Turkey.
I saw this libfem tra say “oh you think being called uterus haver or birthing body is dehumanizing? Try being left out of the conversation!”
Like shut the fuck up you aren’t being left out you opted out. You decided you were too complex to be women because you see women as some blowup doll feminine stereotype, you decided that going by they/them made you above that, and now you’re whining that you’re being left out of the conversation.
I’m not calling women misogynistic bullshit because you can’t cope.
Where is @fyfnoboysallowed ?? I miss her!! Where are you?? hope you’re well

its always “rich women will always have access to abortion’ and never “rich trans people will always have access to gender affirming care”
The american right: “women should be forced to have babies!”
The american left: “I think you mean womb carriers”
discovering radical feminism has made me fall in love with being a woman again. a common smear campaign against the movement is that we only "trauma bond" and believe womanhood is only suffering etc etc but literally no other group of people has made me feel comfortable with my body, proud of my natural skin and unashamed of being a woman.
I really really relate to this. I have a new confidence I’ve never had in my life, and I’m able to set boundaries with people better. My relationship to my mom is way better, and I feel way more at peace with myself :’)
I haven’t been on tumblr in awhile and rereading my early posts from when I first peaked is so funny hehe 😜 I’ve come a long way. Sending love and solidarity to all my sistren ❤️

I think genderists reblogging radfem posts or writing posts with radical feminist ideology then backtracking dramatically when they are told it is a radfem post is an example of how dehumanised we are to them.
I would never accidentally reblog openly nazi thoughts agreeing with them, because their ideology is what is evil. The same for homophobes and racists. They wouldn't either. The ideas are repugnant, that's why they are hated.
It's not our ideas and actions that are wrong and evil, it's some extra unquantifiable thing that makes us evil. We aren't humans with evil thoughts we are evil brings occasionally capable of logical points. We are just bogeywomen- evil and contagious for no reason.
The Left may have let women down, but be wary of false promises from the Right
The women counter by saying they are not complicit in bolstering regressive values; they are, they say, forming “strategic alliances” in order to prevent legislation or policy to be adopted that could harm women, such as transgender self-identification.
I approached WoLF to ask about their work and was told: “We’ve brought feminist arguments to federal court, for the audience of the people who determine the implementation of our civil rights laws. This is an important venue from which we cannot be de-platformed by vigilante social media mobs, and in which the women we represent have a right to have their views represented.”
I understand only too well the effects of being silenced and de-platformed, but joining forces with those who wish to repeal the majority of women’s hard-won rights is a betrayal of the highest order. That’s why I think these alliances are strategically disastrous. Yes, it is a disgrace that Liberal and Left organisations have failed to support sex-based rights, but I do believe women lose out in the long term if we do not fight from a progressive base.
Beatrix Campbell, left-wing journalist, political activist and author of The Iron Ladies: Why Do Women Vote Tory? (1987), knew that in order to be an effective feminist campaigner it is necessary to have a critique of the wider social structures that sustain male power and women’s oppression or we are vulnerable to “odd alliances”. She tells me, “Issues of sexual oppression can arise in the right or the left, and if you don’t locate your women’s activism then you might find allies that are no friends to women at all and want to use us for their own agenda.”
While feminists may find limited common ground with right-wing groups over single issues, they are likely to have very different ideas about how their shared objectives should be achieved and their ultimate goals will be irreconcilable. “The global Right is not and never has been committed to equality,” says Selina Todd, “let alone liberation.”
I believe feminists must look to the movement’s success in the UK and understand that we can win this battle using strong feminist arguments rooted in experience, struggle and female solidarity. As the African American feminist writer Audrey Lorde said: “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us to temporarily beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change.”
