There are countless other Aileen Wuornos’s, tortured, neglected children that grow into the type of woman that sadistic men prey upon. They are seen as disposable, as scum, and when they die we barely notice. Wuornos flipped the script. She blew wide open the reality of women’s lives in the face of the worst of male violence. But, still, so unjustly, she remains the monster.

“Aileen was terrorised by violent johns, and eventually lashed out in crazed defence, just like men do in wars when they are also afraid of getting killed or tortured,” says psychologist Melissa Farley, who was involved in the case.

The news coverage of the Wuornos trial — which can be seen in the documentaries Nick Broomfield made about her — completely omitted any mention of her tormented mental state, though. She was depicted as an avaricious sexual deviant, seducing men and then gleefully murdering them before running off with their money and her lesbian lover. Wuornos, though, had been damaged and traumatised beyond measure by a lifetime of sexual violence. She didn’t have a rational understanding of her rights when she was arrested, and her inconsistent confessions were all the prosecution needed to bring a 12:0 verdict. Three detectives on the case, meanwhile, as well Wournos’s girlfriend, Tyria Moore, sold their story to the media.

Melissa Farley agrees. “Aileen was exploited and used all her life by men doing monstrous things to her, and I know she hated that being applied to her. This book does nothing to disabuse the reader of the mythology that has been created about Aileen.

“Wuornos was defending herself, not seeking to become the ‘whore who shot down johns’ or some sort of folk hero,” Farley continues. “She killed those men because they raped her and threatened her life, which is common in the type of prostitution Wuornos was involved in.”

I'm asking you to close down the pornography outlets wherever you can and to stop the distribution wherever you can, in whatever way you can.

I am asking you to stop passing: stop having feminism be part of a secret life. I am asking you not to apologize to anyone for standing up for women.

I am asking you to organize political support for women who kill men who have been hurting them. They have been isolated and alone.

This is a political issue. They're being punished, because at some moment in their lives, they resisted a domination that they were expected to accept. They stand there in jail for us, for every one of us who got away without having to pull the trigger, for every one of us who lived to tell about getting away without having the trigger pulled on us.

I am asking you to stop men who beat women. Get them jailed or get them killed, but stop them. Men who rape make a choice to rape. And men who beat women make a choice to beat women. And we women now have choices that we have to make to fight back.

I am asking you to look at every single political possibility for fighting back-instead of saying, "I asked him, I told him, but he just wouldn't stop." We need to find ways to do it together. But we need to do it.”

Kurt Warnekros, who performed the remainder of Lili Elbe's surgeries, was also a member of the Nazi Party. He was ultimately who ended up killing Lili. It's unclear as to whether Warnekros had sympathies for Jewish people, as he was understood to have an uneasy relationship with the Nazi administration and continued gynecology on Jewish female patients.

Lili Elbe himself was anti-Semetic and this was the reason why Elbe chose to undergo surgeries with Warnekros over Magnus Hirschfeld (who, on another note, while he was Jewish also was a champion of eugenics and believed that homosexuality was God's way of preventing the spread of inferior genes. Gohbrandt, the Nazi mentioned above, worked in his clinic).

Everybody has been so focused on the revisionism of gay history to suit gender ideology and the focus on "trans icons" that they are blind to the fact that "gender affirming care" is very darkly intertwined with Nazi eugenics and the massacre and sterilization of homosexual and mentally ill people.

but then with disabled people, there are a lot of objective truths to the discrimination we face. people with IDs/LDs do fall behind and struggle with certain concepts. physically disabled people are often weaker and less capable of performing demanding tasks than able bodied people. many of us with mental illnesses are more reckless and less responsible. a lot of us are dependent on others and do not contribute much "worth".

and guess what? disabled people still deserve a place in the world. disabled people still deserve the supports they need. because they are people, and that should be enough to support them and believe they deserve a place at the table.

if your only rebuttal against discrimination is its objective inaccuracies, you are meeting bigots where they are at. you are validating the very concept that if and when people are truly incapable of being equal to the majority, that means they are worth less. this causes some leftists to then try to deny the objective realities of disabled people and/or become ableist themselves.

A lot of you would be so much better off realizing this and investing in yourselves instead of a man. Even just entertaining basic romantic relationships with them will drain you.

Fun fact:  The rate of forcible rape has actually declined dramatically since 1979–by OVER 80% (in fact, ALL violent crime has dropped dramatically in only the past two decades).  Here–have yet another source on this decline.  And, mind you, this is while the willingness of victims and others in reporting instances of rape has actually increased.  The “statistic” being passed around regarding rape is not only false, but completely and utterly outlandish.  The woman who conducted the original surveys the “1 in 4” nonsense came from did so with a very extreme bias, and disregarded the actual feelings of the women she questioned.  Not only were consensual one-night-stands that the subjects later regretted considered to be “rape”, but this article notes that even a kiss was classified as “sexual assault” (oh, and by the way, you might be interested in learning that 40% of rapists ARE WOMEN.  Know what’s extra super gross about that?  A decent portion of them are mothers sexually abusing their own children.  In fact, mothers statistically carry out the majority of abuse against children).  In any case, it’s interesting how the decline in rape coincides with the increased availability of pornography that came with the wider distribution of home video devices.

BONUS ROUND:  If we’re going to talk about chosen media causing violent behavior, we should take a moment to include video games.  Video games are FAR more immersive than pornography, as the player is the one controlling the action.  In spite of what parents in the 90′s believed, it actually turns out that hey–video games actually DON’T cause violent behavior:

Now, if something a person actively controls in which they have the ability to gun down and tear apart everything from people to animals doesn’t contribute to overall violence in real life, then why the fuck would watching pornography?

As for whether or not pornography has any kind of negative psychological impact that contributes to the creation of rapists, let’s examine the idea scientifically.  Acts of violence (including sex crimes) are not a product of any singular aspect of our culture - they are a product of a lack of function in the brain, particularly the pre-frontal cortex.  No amount of pornography is going to damage a person’s brain. You could bombard a man with violent imagery of rape and murder, but mere image and suggestion is not going to disable the functioning of the pre-frontal cortex.  This area of the brain is responsible for controlling our impulses.  For most human beings, this keeps us from acting out against what we’ve learned to be the appropriate behavior in our society. Time and again,  science has shown us that the brains of violent criminals are not the same as those of the average person. 

The people that commit rape lack the empathy to connect with their actions towards others. They are more than likely already well aware that what they’re doing is wrong.  They simply do not have that little voice in the back of their head that tells them not to actually do it.  What they AREN’T, however, is a product of watching pornography.  The kind of people with the capability to commit rape are not going to be dissuaded from doing so if they’re separated from viewing pornography. 

On top of the differences found in the brains of convicted criminals, there is also the fact that male and female brains are not wired the same (we’re only talking about the basic differences, which doesn’t include gender dysphoria.  These differences are fairly inconsequential to gender identity).  There is a part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres (the corpus callosum) that is smaller in boys than in girls.  Now, studies have frequently shown that violent criminals are also usually the products of broken homes, and childhood abuse.  Such abuse actually reduces that part of the brain even further in boys, while such an effect is not shown to occur in girls that endure abuse at a young age.  It is this part of the brain that effects how they cope with stress and trauma at their earliest points in life. 

Violent criminals are not manufactured by pornography, or even by society.  They are manufactured by THEIR OWN, PERSONAL HISTORY AND BIOLOGY, and–like it or not–there’s not a lot that can be done to prevent such damaged individuals from being created.  

There will always exist circumstances under which future criminals can be manufactured, because no matter how advanced we are, and no matter what higher levels of existence we attain, there will always be bad homes, and bad parents.

That last one contains numerous sources showing the damage that the “rape culture” hysteria is enabling.  And yes, it is just hysteria (at least it wouldn’t be the dumbest thing that people in America have believed en masse).  This is exactly why RAINN, the leading organization devoted to the aid of rape victims, discourages the teaching of “rape culture” on college campuses.

Basically, pornography not only doesn’t encourage sexual violence against women, but actually helps prevent it.  Unlike you, I actually have a shit ton of evidence to prove it.

I too, could pick one or two studies that correlate porn to sexual aggression, and then post a few dozen Psychology Today articles referencing my two studies to make it look like I’ve got a “shit-ton of evidence.” But really, I’d still have one or two data points.

More importantly, your central point is that if rape has declined in a country, porn must be good. Leaving aside the obvious correlation/causation mess, I’ll agree that the internet will readily provide data showing reported rape has declined during the 80′s and 90′s in the US. (I don’t have the free time to research the fluctuations in rape rates in the other 169 countries of the world, you’ll have to forgive me there.)

But.

Here’s an excerpt from the Human Rights Watch article U.S.: SOARING RATES OF RAPE AND VIOLENCE

(New York, December 18, 2008) - A new government report showing huge increases in the incidences of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault over a two-year period in the United States deserves immediate attention from lawmakers and the incoming administration, Human Rights Watch said today. The statistics show a 42-percent increase in reported domestic violence and a 25-percent increase in the reported incidence of rape and sexual assault.

Why the disparity, you ask? well, the NCVS changed its methodology.

“The National Crime Victimization Survey is conducted every two years, with data gathered in phone calls made to a sample of households across the United States. Due to criticism from experts in the subject, the survey’s methodology was adjusted in 2007 to capture more accurately the incidence of gender-based violence. The authors say in the report that the higher numbers may reflect the new, more accurate methodology rather than an actual increase. Two major shifts were to describe types of sexual assault to those being interviewed, and to replace “computer-assisted telephone interviews conducted from two telephone centers” nationwide with interviews “by field representatives either by telephone or in person.”

I guess it turns out that trauma victims don’t like disclosing their trauma histories via robocall.

“The new numbers indicate that previously, the government significantly underestimated the number of individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in this country,” said Tofte. “Authorities should urgently adjust public policies, law enforcement, and provision of support services accordingly.”

I’d also like to add that the NCVS does not survey anyone under the age of 12, which means child rape victims are not being officially counted.

So if you believed that Rape Down = Porn Good, logically you would have to concede that Rape Up = Porn Bad. Or are you now going to backpedal into correlation doesn’t equal causation?
