The OP of the screenshot is acting like we're just letting kids in cars willy nilly. We're not. You have to follow so many protections with kids in a car because we recognize how vulnerable children can be in the event of a car accident, of if they're left alone in a car. Why wouldn't we have similar regulations around the internet, knowing children are uniquely vulnerable to being groomed, exposed to radicalizing content, exposed to graphic content, or misled?

A better (though still not perfect) comparison would've been alcohol. Unnecessary, addicting, not really good for anyone but especially bad for children. But of course that wouldn't have supported their stupid argument because we do prohibit children from drinking lol

But I thought makeup was self expression? I thought it was art? Why would self-expressive art be bad as soon as new trends come along? We don’t say a painting is bad because it’s in a 90’s style, or a sculpture is bad because it’s in Ancient Greek style. So why is makeup “bad” when it’s not following the trends of this month?

The point is that despite people claiming that makeup is an art form and a form of self expression, there are strict rules and expectations that women are expected to conform to when doing it. So when compared to any other art form, makeup stands out as an outlier.
