in my roughs post someone pointed out people might wanna use as icons, so I made some of the other versions nicer too:

“I’ve fucked everything up,” I’d told ART. This was when I was in Medical after my “incident.” Mensah and I had called Amena so she wouldn’t worry (or at least so she would know that I was still alive, even I know that’s important for human children). I told Mensah I wanted to watch media and she had left, and I’d blocked the humans’ comm and feed access to the room.

ART had said, That’s nothing new.

I ignored that because it was just trying to reassure me. If it started being sympathetic it would be terrifying. “Your crew isn’t going to want me to do their security anymore.”

Why is that?

That question was obviously a trap and I should ignore it. It wasn’t as if I could put the answer into words. I was different. It wasn’t just the alien contamination.

What came out was, “Something in me broke.”

things to say when you are not a place of honor

sorted to-do lists with simple instructions so the humans don't fuck it up, it orders missing parts or resources, dumps its entire media library into any bot's brain that naively agreed thinking it would be a few gb. it's not. it's several terabytes. muderbot puts in another order for new memory capacitors.

all the while, mensah is doing politics stuff in the same room, not at all bothered by the blank-faced "definitely not a secunit" sitting behind her that hasn't moved a muscle in two hours. ART is everywhere and has its digital hands causing... interesting and potentially useful chaos.

once they leave, mensah asks, "i hope this didn't bore you too much", and in response it sends her a tiered list of everything it got done.
