The prompt for this one was: Murderbot (TV), your choice of Sanctuary Moon character [either directly in-universe or as part of an argument/discussion Murderbot is having with someone else, but the injury happens to a Sanctuary Moon character!]
"An abdominal stab wound at that location and angle would <i>not</i> produce those effects. That's an objective fact. This episode was badly written."
"It's a show, SecUnit," Arada said, lying back with her head in Ratthi's lap. "They're like that."
"I know how media works. But it's still wrong. Which means the entire plot of this episode doesn't make sense, and that is why it's my least favorite episode of the season."
"Not at all because that episode features a character you don't like, then," Gurathin said. It was the first thing he'd said during the entire Sanctuary Moon watching party - he had been quietly doing something in the feed, not even appearing to watch the show broadcast on the wall screen in Ratthi's apartment.
There was a silence; then SecUnit said, "I do not dislike Tech Consultant Quinn."
Gurathin snorted something that sounded like "Bullshit."
"She's badly written. That is an objective fact. She was never mentioned in any previous episode, and now an entire episode is devoted to Tech Consultant Quinn and the colony solicitor's bodyguard trapped in a sabotaged lift together, reminiscing about their childhood on the algae farm, while the bodyguard is suffering from an unrealistic injury? It's an objectively terrible episode."
"SecUnit's got a point," Pin-Lee said. "It's a cliche episode, and I hate it when they throw in a beloved character from someone's past that we're never going to hear about before or after."
"See," SecUnit said, turning to glare past Gurathin's left ear.
"I'm not saying it's a good episode, just that whether or not a broken piece of elevator stabbed through someone's abdomen could actually do that is really the least of the writing problems. You just hate Quinn."
"She's an obnoxious know-it-all who claims closeness with a character who has never shown any sign of having a childhood best friend before --"
"See," Gurathin said.
"-- and there is no reason why a childhood on an algae farm should give her the medical skills to remove an embedded piece of metal, which would have caused the bodyguard to bleed out immediately, anyway. That angle would definitely have pierced the spleen. So as well as all her other flaws, she is a terrible medic. And her hair is stupid."
"Her hair looks a lot like Gurathin's hair," Ratthi said, which made Gurathin glare at him.
"Oh?" SecUnit said. "I hadn't noticed."
