Amaury "Chocolate Guy" Guichon is undoubtedly an extremely skilled sculptor in chocolate but I think my favorite thing about a lot of his videos is the effort he puts into putting actual dessert food under the sculpture work
So many of his desserts & pastries have at least 5 layers of different textures & flavors. Fruit jams, caramel, cake, creams, mousse, cookies, meringue, crumb layers etc
That's what makes his work truly impressive to me, especially as someone who quickly got tired of the "knife that turns everything into cake" thing, where it was all basic chocolate cake buried under 13 layers of fondant

what really drives me nuts is that like. this happens an average of x times per year as a visibly weird person, but we only get made aware of it a small fraction of the time. you can't kill yourself you have to be clocky in the gas station.
Being clocky when i was working as a barista was one of my big joys. Being clocky when i was teaching high schoolers how to play the marimba was my reason for being for half a decade. It sucks how scared I am to leave the house I live in now. But I still need to try and be clocky at the grocery store. I wish i had a job to be clocky at. Being visibly me is one of the most radical acts I'm capable of, and I hope that one day we live in a world where it isn't radical at all.
that's exactly what I was feeling when I wrote this. we all find ways to defy our fear, love is an excellent motivator.
I love going out being clocky. I love seeing a young queer as a cashier. Usually I'm wearing a mask so I imagine folks can't quitr tell until I speak. I almost always complimented on my hair by these folks too. I love being able to thank them and give them a compliment in return.
around a month ago i saw an older trans woman who was probably like 60+ with a cis woman who seemed to be her supportive wife who took her clothes shopping as customers in my store and she seemed so happy to see me there and it melted my heart so much. if you are trans your existence is so important for someone even if it doesnt feel like it. i hope shes doing alright
was also having a terrible day a bit over a week ago but a super pretty trans woman came into the store and we talked a bit after a mutual i know what you are look and she brightened my day a lot and probably doesnt even realize it. i really hope i see her again
I’ve told this story before but I always love telling it.
When I was a young child, my mom and grandma took me to Pizza Hut. A waitress gave me a coloring mat and crayons and smiled and said she’d come back for our order. My mom and grandma started whispering to each other after she left
I asked them what they’re whispering about. They don’t tell me. I ask again, louder. They shush me and my mom whispers.
“We think our waiter is a man in a dress.”
I thought she was beautiful. I still remember what she looks like. She was the first trans woman I ever saw. I think about her all the time.
i work retail in a rural area in the south. i think about moments like these all the time. they don't happen very often, but they're all treasures to me. i remember seeing a young tgirl skipping happily to the makeup; helping another tgirl find something and we just take a moment to appreciate each other, huge smiles; young kid telling me she likes my pins (trans pride flags, pronoun pin, etc. etc.); a new co-worker that started smiling when they saw me and the next day had their own pins.
it's hard, too, but i hope there are so many more i don't realize. the idea that i could challenge the status quo for what someone thinks is possible for their own life is incredible.
i saw some version of this post and took it as the "you need to actually go outside in not-boymode" sign. Which isn't much, it's cut up shirt with exposed bra and cargo shorts. And nobody mentioned abything or gave me any looks. And then I got approached in the deoderant isle by a trans guy (???) and we talked and I got their (???) number and AAAAAAHHHH. Don't know if that will go anywhere but just that inter made me so happy.
A little addition to the Jehoshua’s card game alternate ending
Ok, now that we’ve had a week to think about it, here’s another, more S1-ish fix it (as the last one was desperate and had issues…but let’s be honest, so did the “season”.)
This is what I was referring to in a recent reblog. This is how the ending could have been shifted to not only make use of Jesus in a meaningful way instead of just having him as a pointless plot device, but to give our Ineffables their own proper happy ending.
Also, leaving it up to Jesus to save the world as Crowley and Aziraphale stand in the background encouragingly but essentially doing nothing is not only totally on brand for them but exactly mirrors Adam’s narrative in season 1. You know the ANTI-Christ!

it also makes me sad that the writers chose to reveal God as a cosmic sadist who looks upon creation through a magnifying glass--and wouldn't you know it, we're ants beneath a sunbeam.
not to be a God apologist! but the finale's characterization of God is weird for many reasons, especially since up to this point she's depicted as distant, given to bouts of silence, but not directly active in the goings-on of the universe. it's a rather Deist view of things, and it works because that's how free will works: God's ways are mysterious, hard to articulate, ineffable, even. and in the time it takes to puzzle them out, we are continually making choices--some frivolous, some momentous, all of them ours.
I'm not suggesting the writers needed to make God all warm and fuzzy, but a removed sort of benignity could have reinforced that God sees, but we move. a gently amused God as interrogator at the end of the universe could ask the questions now: picture a daytime TV host mediating between a fractious couple. God sets Crowley and Aziraphale on the wrong foot, not because she's the Great Fatalist, but because she doesn't answer questions--she asks them. (remember God's monologue in the Job storyline? it's part of a much longer passage in which God shows up to the hard-done-by Job and says hey! you're asking the wrong questions!)
in other words, I'd love to see a magic trick: yes, the Lady's in God's pocket. but what's this, right behind your ear? another card?
turns out, there's more than one queen in the deck. we are tested, but not to destruction. we get to choose--the universe, the world, an us.

Hi Apple users, Apple released a fun thing where they take your photos and Siri transcripts and use them to train AI! And they may be automatically turned on without your knowledge, because oh boy they sure were for me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Open the “apps” section in your settings (it’s usually at the very bottom), go to photos and scroll until you see “Enhanced Visual Search” and then turn that shit off. Then go to “Privacy and Security”, scroll until you see “Analytics & Improvements”, and turn off “Improve Siri & Dictation” as well.
I am an artist with hundreds upon hundreds of my artworks in my photo album. I also have plenty of photos with not only my own face, but the faces of my friends and my family. I do not appreciate that being used to train AI without my consent, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for others too.
I’m so tired of big companies.

probably should have seen it coming I guess but it's pretty fucking annoying everyone saw a conversation about "people don't understand how difficult it is clothes shopping as a trans woman" and proceeded to show just how much they don't understand it by assuming it's only about sizing and not the constant societal surveillance and inability to use the change rooms and fear of being kicked out of the story and unwillingness even for friends to recognise that there's barriers in your way and try and help you.
even people trying to commiserate with me complaining about the dumb responses assumed that it was just about sizing. and phrased it all like "you're so seen and valid". fucking christ.

with clothes it's like ok cool but you might notice that you are wearing womens clothes from the clothes store that you bought and were able to try on before buying and weren't called a pervert and/or pedophile over it. meanwhile I am not. so maybe this is not actually "something all women experience" or just about sizing yes?
hope this isn't derailing but i think that this is heavily shaped by this condescending attitude people have about trans women's womanhood. they treat us like little girls discovering every aspect of being a woman instead of understanding us as adults who can have fully formed and informed opinions and analysis about our lived experience.
folks assume we have everything to learn about being women, because the idea that they would have anything to learn from us about it or about being a trans woman is simply too ridiculous to even cross their mind.
basically, i think the general rule of thumb is: if someone REALLY wants the blood that’s inside of your body, and they’re like… a vampire, or a dracula, or some sort of mansquito, then that’s probably okay. a dracula and a mansquito are made for removing things like blood and swords from inside your body. that’s basically fine.
if something wants to get at your blood, and they’re, say, some kind of murdersaurus, or maybe a really big frog, that’s where the problems start to arise. a really frog is not made for removing blood, and your blood knows this, which is why it is so vehement about wanting to stay IN your body instead of coming out.
unfortunately this will not deter a really big frog, because a really big frog is full of things like prizes, and value, and quite a lot of hatred, and it would REALLY rather like to replace any and all of those things with your blood, and basically by any means possible.
