before i start lemme acknowledge that yes, the producers did her dirty at times throughout the series and there’s very clear moments of oversexualization, so much more than with other female characters in trek (rick berman when i catch you) - and still, taking that into account, she’s one of the most relatable fem/afab autistic characters ive seen in star trek. (seven of nine’s on that list too, but we’re focusing on t’pol here)

you have a vulcan who’s tried her whole life (and largely succeeded) to be as normal as possible by vulcan standards - who’s done everything by the books, gotten into a high ranking position at the vulcan high command, embraced logic and rejected emotions, basically done everything a “good” vulcan would do. and yet, she still gets cast out in the end, assigned to the enterprise to serve on a ship with a bunch of humans who don’t understand her and are a little rude at times about her vulcan-ness.

by all intents and purposes it seems like the worst thing to happen to someone who projects that perfect vulcan image on the outside (cough masking cough) - but it ends up being the best thing to happen to her and she’s allowed to become fully herself. by the end of the series we see a really different t’pol compared to the one we first met, one who’s shed the expectations of what it means to be vulcan.

even though it wasn’t intended as such, this is like exactly reminiscent of some of my own experiences as an afab autistic person.

trying so hard to fit in with what society wants from you, following all the unwritten neurotypical rules until you get to a place you’re supposed to want to be - only for it not to be enough anyway and getting cast out regardless. the realization that even if you do play by a neurotypical rulebook, it still won’t truly be enough, for yourself or the people around you. that in the end, unmasking and casting out those rules will reward you the most.
