+ a little poem about James protecting Harry, because apparently I wake up every day and choose emotional devastation as a hobby.
He is the morning in your days,
the glow that turns the world to praise.
A careless grin, a shining spark,
a beam that breaks the deepest dark.
And you, still small, still soft, still new,
just turn instinctively toward the hue,
because all life bends to the sun,
to warmth that says: you are my one.
A body placed without a thought
between all harm and all that’s fraught.
For love like his does not retreat,
it burns,
it stands,
it takes the heat.
(I intended it to be like both James and Harry are looking at Lily)
I'm melting. I have to have him.
I am sobbing because of of this.
I keep thinking about Lily and James protecting Harry in Godric’s Hollow. And now i’m crying all over again...
I'M SORRY, LET'S LIGHTEN THE MOOD:
This is so Harry and James to me, actually lol.
I think Harry is such a mama’s boy.
He’s a very sweet, calm baby most of the time, but when he gets grumpy he is like: "No this is unacceptable. Where is my mother?"
And James is there trying so hard, bouncing him and doting with him. Fully convinced he can solve it. He’s so gentle with him too, always careful, always smiling at him like Harry hung the stars himself.
Until James gets this idea.
So he, very seriously, pulls out this moving photograph of Lily. Probably one where she’s laughing and smiling, and he holds it up like it’s the most logical solution in the world.
“Look who it is,” he tells him.
And Harry just immediately melts. Little chubby hands reaching, tiny happy noises, completely soothed like yes, correct, this is what i was missing.
And James just blinks at him for a second like. wow. okay. brilliant. I see who the favorite is.
But then he laughs, because he can’t not, because Harry’s smiling again even if it means admitting that, yes, unfortunately, Lily is his favorite.
