hey. ptsd/ocd simon that’s so scared of a “hull breach” (crack or leak) in his and graces home environment on erid that he spends hours and hours obsessively pacing the edges of the dome looking for any sign of structural failure

and he knows. he Knows it doesn’t make sense, he knows there’s a whole team of eridians whose sole task is to look out for him and grace. he knows that if even the faintest crack sprouted in the xenonite walls the eridians would hear and patch it before any harm was done.

but he still jumps at anything that sounds like a crack. he strains his ears constantly listening for them. his hands still shake when grace gently pulls him away from the walls. eventually there’s a track worn into the ground that circles the entire dome because he just. can’t. stop.

grace is worried, of course. he tries to get simon to relax, reassures him that it’s okay, the xenonite is stronger than any human-made vessel. maybe he resorts to force, only once, because once is enough for him to see what it does to simon. maybe simon completely flips out and hurts grace trying to escape because he’s so consumed by the urge to check the walls that he can’t see what he’s doing.

maybe sometimes he wakes up screaming for the radio to stop. grace is barely awake and asking him what’s wrong before he’s out the door, sprinting full tilt to check the walls because he’s sure that there’s a hull breach, hull breach, hull breach. hull breach. hull breach. hull breach

also Also. returns to the whiteboard of evil and suffering. simon has awful compulsions about checking himself for mutations from the blood ocean. he’s constantly running his hands over his body to make sure there’s nothing new. he begs a little xenonite mirror off rocky so he can carry it to check his face and back. he asks grace at least twice a day if his left eye is reverting back to red.

put that man in situations not just physically but mentally too.. unchecked compulsions that grace isn’t equipped to handle.. maybe grace starts going through his infinite database of human knowledge, searching desperately for anything that could help his lover escape the illness that is quickly spiraling out of control.

maybe he accidentally does things that make simon’s compulsions worse first because he doesn’t know any better. maybe sometimes it seems hopeless, he’s not trained for this after all, he doesn’t know what to do other than hold simon while he sobs and pleads with grace to help him check his skin again and again and again

This is actually one of the very few times that this isn't a valid critique because this is actually a very weird ad for mens deodorant! 😂 It's Rexona Mens Stunt City commercial. We don't have men taking action roles in women's deodorant commercials either. I do think that the point of women predominately being the cashiers/assistants is very valid, but half the people at the table for the business meeting are women. It makes sense for men to have all of the active roles in a men's deodorant commercial just like we see in womens deodorant commercials though

Like I don't know how to fucking explain that there is a difference between the fucking dove commercial which focuses on the bodies the deodorant is being applied to being active, and has a focus on diverse women using the product (and excludes men because they're not the target users of the product), and this one, which focuses on that but also includes women and SPECIFICALLY does so as part of the fantasy : you will be so cool and awesome and there will be hot girls to get you coffee (even in the fucking meeting, where the women are background characters, there is one getting the men fucking coffee) but they will not interact with this world in a way that threatens you or challenges the assumption that only (white) masculinity can be cool and dangerous.

(Why is men's deodorant advertised with fantasies of fire and motorcycle stunts and breaking glass and cute girls smiling at you, the most important man in the world, while women's deodorant is advertised with ... yoga and dance parties?)
