85% of the characters in Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norell are TRASH. Like, bad people. Drawlight is that bitch that you don’t know but hypes you online. So it’s cool? Doesn’t hurt anything. But is somehow making money off of it and really convincing people that y’all are besties. Norell, he’s a squirrelly wallflower who is actually good at his obsession. But, hoardes it all to himself and scoffs at people who he knows won’t know magic like him because he has literally taken all the magic texts for himself. Like, hunts them down specifically for the purpose of other people not reading them. Also, he didn’t want to do magic UNTIL someone told him he could really wow people with straight up fucking necromancy. Hey levitate this ball please? No, it’s undignified, but I will bring this rich lady back to life to gain clout.
