I’m going through The X-Files for the first time! Star Trek TNG again (always a Star Trek lol), and I just finished Poldark for the first time, which was wildly melodramatic but I loved it lol.

Currently Reading:

I’m reading a book called “Of Flesh and Feathers” by L.M Pierce. About a flock of Chickens who are trying to survive a Zombie apocalypse. I bought it from the author herself at the Decatur Book Festival last year and she described it as “Chicken Run meets The Walking Dead.” And I threw my credit card at her. It’s riveting!!😆

I’m also reading a book called “The Trickster And The Paranormal” by, George P. Hansen, which is basically an ethnography that looks at supernatural phenomena and high strangeness through the lens if the Trickster Archetype and it’s one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read!

Current Obsession:

I’m dipping my toes into the Young Sherlock Fandom because that show has grabbed me by the throat and reawakened my Sherlock Holmes phase like the sleeper agent.

I’m also still a little obsessed with Good Omens, but that place isn’t as fun anymore since the finale blew up the fandom. Especially as someone who DIDN’T hate the finale.

I’m always obsessed with all things strange, unexplained, spooky, and paranormal.

I have so many YS!Mycroft Holmes fanfic ideas it’s crazy. ThE VoIcEs are giggling like gremlins in my brain.

I’m also knitting a baby blanket for my new nephew who is due in August!

Okay, so here goes:

Last Song: Difficult, because I'm a music teacher, so I hear a LOT of songs every day. But as for what I'm working on myself, the last one I rehearsed today for an upcoming gig was Unknown/Nth by Hozier. I have finally got all the guitar parts just right, yay me!!

Currently Watching: With Good Omens over now, I'm sort of waiting for inspiration to strike as to what to watch next. Also, so many of the things I'd love to get hyperfixated on are on streaming services that I do not want to pay for, so if anyone would like to tell me how to *ahem*, sail the seven seas, as it were, I would love a brief introduction to locales where I could binge some new material (also taking suggestions as to what I might enjoy!)

Currently Reading: Good Omens fanfic, as usual! Just finished one called 'A Little Life' by GaiasEyes - cannot recommend that one enough, although it is HEAVY. I was in tears for more than half of it. But, the subject matter was handled with a truth and a sensitivity that is just out of this world. Also reading The Books Of Enoch as research, and taking a look at quantum physics again. Kind of thinking that I need to return to the book 'The Quantum Zoo' - it's explained really well there. I'm also about to pick up 'Watership Down' - pray for me! I found the animated movie terrifying as a kid!

Current Obsession(s): Good Omens as always, but yeah, the fandom has been rough for the past bit. It has been hard to find other people who enjoyed it, so if you're reading this and you're one of them, and you want to yap about it, hit up my dms! No hate at all for anyone who didn't like it, and if you'd like to know why I did like it, and don't want to use that to start an argument, I'm happy to hear from you as well! I can take hearing differing opinions, just that I don't want to argue.

I'm also, as always, obsessed with Hozier's music - I'm really just trying to learn at least a version of every song that can be done with only one or two instruments, and play them at every opportunity.

I also love playing with my companion rabbit - his name is Ziggy Bundust, and my life pretty much revolves around his needs. He's 7lbs of absolute chaos and silliness, and he just turned 5 yesterday!!

Currently Working On: Music, as I said before, but that's a given.

Writing an Asa/Anthony fanfic - one that I hope answers some questions and hopefully shows that magic exists even in a mundane universe that isn't predicated on the existence of celestial or occult beings. It's just that magic might look a bit different. Think of the many worlds interpretation of quantum physics, and you'll get a hint of where I'm going here. Because, what if next-door universes sometimes bled into our own? That could be interesting, right?

Also plotting and character developing for an original work - hence the Book Of Enoch for research purposes. There will be angels in this book! But there's also many queer characters, and representation of the oft undiscussed issue of female on male domestic violence. I know, heavy, but it really doesn't get talked about very often (Cherry Wine was a big influence on that particular side story of one of my characters).

Currently Wearing: Well, wouldn't YOU like to know? Probably not - it's not that exciting. It's hot as balls here too, but I have air conditioning (for my rabbit), and so it's like, 66F in here. Track pants and an old Alaska t-shirt. I've never been to Alaska, so I have no earthly clue where this shirt came from. It just turned up in my t-shirt collection.

Last Google Search: 'how tall is Alan Alda' - because I just saw the episode where Leslie Nielsen is on M*A*S*H, and I always thought he was tall. But Alan Alda looked taller. They're both listed as 6'2". So someone is lying about their height! And I want to know who!!

Favourite Flower: Hands down, the humble carnation. They're cheap to buy, they last a LONG time in a vase, and they smell neat and come in so many different colours! And they look so fluffy!!

I wrote something as therapy for myself to deal with my big feelings surrounding the finale.

I wrote it to turn something that made me cry into something that made me smile. It will probably not be for many of you, and it's not a fix-it or anything but I'm sharing it for anyone who does need it. And because we always share our creative endeavors here. (Though it IS locked because of the spam problem.)

When I posted my previous art of Aziraphale and Crowley smoking on Facebook, I received this comment.

Yet another misconception that came from AziCrow in the show being "clean" for modern audiences. Back in the days, everyone loved art of AziCrow smoking. Now I post a drawing of them smoking and there are people acting like I am giving guns to a child.

First of all, they canonly smoke as written in NG and TP's new year resolution for them:

Crowley: Resolution #6: I will try to understand why Hell is a no-smoking area. I just think it's ridiculous having to stand around outside the gates, that's all. Aziraphale: Resolution #9: I will try to understand why Heaven is a non-smoking area.

Second of all, the book was written in the 80s, smoking was a normal thing. They also lived 6000 years throughout human history. I don't think they even stopped at just smoking. My headcanon is that they have tried every human invention that can get them high. (If you know what I mean).

Thirdly, they also get no bad consequences from smoking. They aren't human. You don't have to worry about them getting cancer or anything.

I'm honestly tired of people treating two mature, immortal being who lived through human history as some kind of pure saint. Especially Aziraphale. Let them smoke.

And naturally I just have to keep drawing them smoking from now on.

As for the piece above, I love it! It's silly. It's funny, and the artist is correct - two non-human immortal beings can feel the effects of whatever poison they choose to put into themselves in the effort to get high, or whatever else, but they can also quickly eradicate the effects when they want to, and suffer no harm. So, leave them alone to do it! Hell, I'd love to see a piece where Aziraphale is snorting a line of coke off of Crowley's arse - that would be hilarious! Might even be tempted to pay for such a thing...

Hey @vivi-theakuneko, keep doing what you're doing - don't worry about the damn thought police! Have your fun!!

But my basic thinking about GO3 after reflecting on it for the past six weeks is that I do still wish we could have seen Aziraphale and Crowley get a happy ending in their own universe (although with the way things were written, I understand why we didn’t) but also I am going to continue to find joy and whimsy and love in the story that was told. It doesn’t make me feel any better to dwell on the things I wish were different, and I also genuinely am having fun playing in the ambiguous-ending-sandbox.

I am also going to continue to find joy and whimsy and love in the stories that weren’t told, but could have been (AUs etc.) because that’s where the real beauty of fandom is to me. I love seeing art and reading fics and swapping headcanons and doing all of that with all of you.

I’m never really one for writing a lot of meta, so I won’t do that here, and I’ve also found a lot of the discourse around the ending to be really divisive and sometimes hateful. I don’t think there is one correct read or interpretation of the finale. I hope that one day soon we can reconnect and share the things we love about this story and these characters who mean so very much to us all.

I said this in an ask to someone who has a very different interpretation of the finale than me, but I’m going to say it here as well because it bears repeating:

Aziraphale was sceptical from the moment he felt the weight of the package. Upon opening it, he gave the panels a horrified glance, briefly held one corner up against a light, and then neatly and precisely repacked them.

“Grab your coat and Bentley’s keys, please, Dearest. We need to visit the draper.”

So now Crowley was hanging back, trying not to look too besotted as he heard Aziraphale explain, in extraordinary detail, that his Husband enjoyed sleeping in, that he required absolute darkness to do so most comfortably, that Aziraphale had explicitly chosen both this establishment and these handmade drapes for that precise purpose, that these curtains blocked about as much light as the material spiders use to spin their webs, that…

To her credit, DrapesLady did a very good job of receiving his Husband’s agitated concern, making shocked and frustrated noises at all the right moments.

“Oh goodness no, of course these won’t do.”

“For your husband? Oh no no no. If these arrived for my spouse I’d be embarrassed first and livid second.”

“Why don’t we go in back? I’ll pull out the specifications for all of our options, and then we can see about doubling and tripling some layers. We won’t stop until we’ve tested things to your satisfaction.”

Crowley could see vague traces of Aziraphale’s feathers unruffling in their ethereal plane as DrapesLady made it clear that she took this issue (almost) as seriously as he did. The primary coverts were the last to smooth out, but eventually even they stood down.

By the time Aziraphale had sat down in the back, spectacles perched on his nose, books detailing the visual light transmittance statistics for various lining, interlining, and outer fabrics scattered around him, and a freshly brewed cup of tea in his hand, he seemed to be fully relaxed and even enjoying himself.

So while Crowley still wasn’t entirely happy with the shop for upsetting his angel in the first place, he decided that he liked DrapesLady very much.

Each side is scared of judgement from the other. Let's share this around so people can see just how much support and love there actually is.

Mo ghaol is a term of endearment in Scottish Gaelic which translates to "my love" and it is still used today so I thought it'd be cute to have Anthony call Asa that

Mo ghraidh also means "my love" but it is more what you would call family and stuff while the other one is for romantic partners

Upon finding a grand total of zero (zero!) Good Omens pride-related events on Tumblr this year, I took it upon myself to make a casual challenge for any writer or artist who wishes to make pride-related Good Omens fanwork. We could definitely do with a bit of pride this year!

Running for the rest of June until 1st September, this is a relaxed queer event that you can dip your toes in and out of.

I am thankful to all of the ridiculously talented fanfic writers (and artists) in this fandom for giving me all these treasures. Please, know that your work is appreciated and I hope you keep writing.

I love it all - the 'fix-its' especially of Season 2, the kissing art, @mimisempai and all the wacky incorrect quotes stuff (they're also doing some fic writing that I'm really enjoying of Asa and Anthony), the book omens fics, the human AU's - just all of it!

We have nothing but each other. Only together can we keep this fandom going and give each other light. Please, be kinder to one another, really. Hatred and hostility between “sides” never lead to anything good, that’s another lesson from Good Omens.

I hate the finale with all my heart, but I don’t understand people who deliberately go out of their way to push their opinions onto those on the other side. Let’s be more tolerant of each other and accept the fact that we will never all have the same opinion. And I especially don’t understand when people resort to insults and pressure, things like “calm down and stop acting like children, the finale is amazing and you should accept it and love it” on one side, and aggressive attempts to force opinions under posts of those who liked the finale on the other.

I really hope we're all still here, and all still inspired to create and engage - doesn't matter whether you liked it or not, the room for all manner of art and fics and edits is still there!! Aziraphale and Crowley belong to us now, and we should be playing with them - they'll get lonely if we don't!

If you enjoyed them, play with Asa and Anthony too - write their story, as we saw so very little of it! They're really a tabula rasa for us to expand upon if we so wish (you could even write a crack fic about them going for better haircuts, seeing as that seems to be a strong complaint).
