Sad Star Wars Thought
I recently started watching "Clone Wars". (All the love...Anakin actually has emotions, and Obi-Wan's a sarcastic little shit. I love it.) One of my favorite episodes so far is later in season one, where two clones rescue this little Twi'lek child after they get separated from Obi and the rest of their platoon. She calls them a word in her language, which Obi later tells them translates to "brother". It's a good story, and a heartwarming angle. I was thinking about the episode a couple days later, and what came unbidden to mind was the moment at the end of Revenge of the Sith; Obi-Wan looks down in sorrow at his fallen friend, and cries out, "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you." And it hit me...if Obi-Wan has a brother, he/we wouldn't know. Anakin certainly didn't have one. Most Jedi lives are intertwined as master and apprentice, without ready attachments. So how would Obi-wan grasp the concept of brotherhood? By working closely with the clones for years. The same clones that then turned on him and attempted to kill him.
