we as a society really ought to bring back advice animals, that really was the Peak of memes
Did I do this right?
This is the best fucking thing Iāve seen all week.
Make a Vampire character whoās lived through several waves of the common languageās development and canāt let go if certain gramatical habbits from different time eras.
So like, thou ist a horrid creature, an absolute cur, but go off i guess
⦠can i use that phrase irl?
Absolutely you can and I encourage more uses of similar phrases that just completely fuck up the chronology of the english langauge. I wanna hear 15th century english mixed with surfer speak mixed with current age internet lingo like all the time.
Like this? Well my dude, seems like a weasel hath not such a deal of splean as youāre tossād with. Chill already, youāre not valid.
You are an unrighteous, bastardly gullion. Heaven truly knows that thou art false as hell. When you die, I will face God and walk backwards into hell just so that I can beat your ass in the afterlife too.
I love the idea of a vampire whoās language travels back in time as they get pissed.
I grieve for thee in these trying times. Alexa play Despacito
Reading these is like literary whiplash
This body is a vessel for my mayhem and as long as I can perform bafoonery it doesnāt matter if this stomach is flat or not
the exciting sequelĀ for thicc-ass comic varian

blocking someone isnāt admitting defeat. blocking is a permanent shut up button.
blocking isnāt cowardly. its just making something annoying into something silent. you arent brave for arguing on the internet rather than hitting that block button. those are just words youāre typing on a computer.
I think what non-spoonies tend to forget is that chronically ill people do not just get ill more often than other people, but are ill all the time. When we miss school or cancel appointments, it isĀ not because we āfelt a bit peaky againā and decided to not go - we feel bad most of the time, but still do things anyway. A lot of us feel ill, in pain etc. all the time, and we cancel plans/take time off when we physically or emotionally cannot cope with the day or the things required of us. Our āgoodā or āokayā is a healthyĀ personās āawfulā. We are consistently making more effort than ānormal peopleā in order to live and make a living, and we often make that effort at the expense of our health. And it is soĀ hurtful and offensive when people we know/ friends/ family/ teachers etc. get frustrated and annoyed because they think we are not trying hard enough. We are always trying. We are always fighting. Sometimes itās too much.
Donāt like certain themes in a fic? You can always stop reading and move on to something else.

Donāt enjoy the characterizations in a fic? Is it too OOC for you? Feel free to stop reading and move on to something else.

Content of a certain fic might be triggering or upsetting to you? Please stop reading and move on to something else.

It is *always* a readerās responsibility to decide what they do and do not read. It is *not* the writerās job to adhere to anyone elseās standards or preferences.
~ ~
If you send hate to an author because of something you didnāt like about their plot or characters or warnings, that is you trying to misguidedly place blame on the author, rather than taking your own responsibility for not putting down the fic and just. Moving. On. To. Something. Else.
This needs more notes.
Nobody is forcing you to read it.
not to throw myself into discourse or anything but fandom went downhill the moment fans began holding up fandom content to mainstream content standardsĀ
Elaborate pls.
Shipping is no longer aboutĀ āhey I think these characters have an interesting dynamic and I want to explore what they would be like togetherā, itāsĀ ābut it needs to be canon,Ā it needs to be healthy, it needs to be representationāĀ
Headcanons are no longer personal opinions butĀ āyou are wrong and always have been wrongā, āyou are DIRECTLY going against canon with this and hereās a list of reasons why this is so!ā
Do I even need to bring up theĀ āfiction = realityā argument here thatās currently so prevalent in fandom circles that, sure, definitely has some truth in it when youāre considering a piece of mainstream media which is going to reach millions of people, but not so much when youāre applying it to a fanfiction with 100 views topsĀ
There are certain things fans want to see in their mainstream content, and thatās okay! I do that too! Diversity is a necessity in media and itās wonderful that the mainstream media is finally taking steps to rectify that, no matter how small. Fans can now openly communicate with content creators on social media and get them to confirm all manner of headcanons, and thatās good too!Ā
Except some fans have run with this and started using it against fandom, and suddenly youāve ended up with fans terrified to put forth their own content because it doesnāt fit into the requirements theyāre requesting from the mainstream.Ā
One of the best examples to illustrate this recent shift that I can think of is (oh god here we go Iām not even in this fandom) Reylo. If it were to become canon in the films? Sure, feel free to criticise the creators behind the decision all you want! However, exploring the potential such a relationship could have in a fanfiction no-oneās going to read except other people interested in the same idea doesnāt open it up to this same criticism.
tl;dr: through wanting to transform the canon, fans are forgetting how to transform the canon for themselves into their own fanworks and this is leading to fans criticising each other on the same level with which they criticise mainstream media without considering the history & small nature of fandom and the intention of fans in their production of contentĀ
I agree with what youāre saying, but I do want to point out that sometimes those fanfics with only 100 views end up getting more views and becoming mainstream media (namely, 50 shades of grey).
I agree with everything else you said - I donāt think that whatās mainstream should dictate whatās in fandom, but when stories get big (and just before becoming mainstream), should they still be excluded from criticism?
This is a good point, but allow me to use 50 Shades of Grey as an example since youāve brought it up:
50 Shades of Grey, in its original form as Twilight fanfiction, was fanfiction written for fandom consumption and published in a fandom space.
EL James, in deciding to publish it,Ā took that fanfiction out of the fandom space and opened it up to full public consumption.Ā
And in turning that fanfic into a published novel, in removing it from its fandom space and placing it in a literature space, EL James should have done her research, or at least sought out critical opinions which influenced the novelās transition from a fanfic written entirely to amuse herself to a published work.
Does this mean we should be criticising fanfictions which gain popularity in fandom in case the authors decide to do as EL James did and publish it as an original work??Ā
In my opinion, no.
Fanfictions published in fandom spaces are written freely, given freely. We have no way of judging why an author felt the need to write their fanfics and fanfiction authors do not need to justify themselves even if they do (to use 50 Shades again) write fucked up dynamics in a romantic way, or havenāt done any research on a topic central to their work such as BDSM, etc. If, however, you choose to edit your fanfiction into an original work, it no longer exists in a fandom space and you should be aware of that.Ā
Those popular fanfictions? Remain excluded from criticism because they still exist in a fandom space. If you find aspects of a popular fanfiction to be harmful or worthy of criticism in some way, thereās the back button, or even better, a blank word page to begin writing your own fanfic.
If courage isnāt the absence of fear but doing the right thing regardless of it, maybe confidence isnāt the absence of insecurity but knowing you have real worth despite it
this is beautiful
By this same token, maybe goodness isnāt the absence of bad thoughts or impulses, but the conscious choice to behave according to your moral ideals in spite of them.Ā
I love this.

not to get too deep on main but did anyone else have such deeply rooted issues with their self worth for so long that they thought as a kid/teen that their only redeeming feature was being ālow maintenanceā and now as an adult you give yourself guilt pangs asking for any more than the barest minimum in virtually any relationship because asking for things might negate your only good quality which is just ādoesnāt ask for thingsā
#you donāt believe you can be liked so you settle for being usefulĀ
āI just feel so dead insideā¦ā
āDeadĀ inside, you say? I know something that might just workā
reanimate my will to live

I wonder how many gay people are actually transgender & dont know it because people thing being transgender is transitioning when itās literally just not being cis.
like I had a friend tell me last night āall my life I wanted to be a girl. even to this day, like if someone told me I could transition & look like you or *insert another trans woman idk* I would do it in a heartbeatā and when I was like omg ur transgender he was surprised? like he was like wait just wanting to be a girl makes me transgender even if I dont do anything about it? and like its harder to pinpoint non binary people but if u have a desire be a different gender ur transgender. transitioning is a choice but being transgender is not.
āOne of the symptoms of being a girl is wanting to be a girl.ā Donāt remember where I heard that but the quote is my life.
This is one of the posts I can explicitly pinpoint as helping me realize that I might not be cis. The biggest symptom of being trans is wanting to not be your gender. It can also be dysphoria, it can also be euphoria, it can also be presentation, but wanting to be something else is all you really need.
Iām not vagueblogging anyone, but I think it really needs to be said that healthy, abled people literally cannot understand the level of fatigue that chronically ill people have to live with.
I know this because my mom has had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome essentially my entire life, but I couldnāt understand her fatigue until I got sick myself.
I know this twice over because when I got extremely ill with Lyme Disease, she couldnāt understand myĀ fatigue. Twenty years of CFS and she would chastise me for not doing some things she thought I should be doing, even when I said I was too tired. A few years later, her condition worsened and she apologized to me, saying that it was only then that she got it.
So please, donāt think that the tiredness youāve dealt with is comparable to what a chronically ill person has to fight, every minute of every day, to try and scrape by an existence. In fact, donāt even try to understand, because you canāt.Ā
Just believe them when they tell you how bad their fatigue is.
