Perfect timing, as I'm about to spend all weekend working.
1 and 2
1. has a comment someone left on a fic of yours ever made you laugh out loud?
I'm sure they have but I don't remember what it was. I love it when people leave funny, unhinged (positive) comments - especially on the serious, angsty stories.
2. has a comment someone left on a fic of yours ever made you cry?
I doubt it. I'm not emotional enough to be moved to crying by comments. Or stories, or fiction in general. (If I cry, it's usually out of irl frustration; I know of only 3 times when something fiction-related made me tear up so that's... not a lot.)
HELL YEAH A GOOD DAY!
I should be going to the swimming pool (since I cannot even log in to work today as it's a national holiday, smh) but I don't wannaaa leave the balcony. It's so nice and warm and sunny and good.

Fanfic writers, reblog if you’re okay with people sharing the links to your fics to their friends and/or for fic rec posts without having to ask for your permission first
(I saw a debate about whether or not it was okay for people to share fic links around without asking the authors first, since some authors may not be comfortable with the links to their fics being shared around on twitter or tumblr. so I thought this post could be a blanket permission for authors who were okay with the links to their fics being shared around!)
Not to get personal but early on in the TNG run, they’re in the middle of a crisis and Picard asks Data a question. Halfway through his answer, Picard tells him to “stop rambling.” The next time Picard needs information, Data asks how detailed he should be.
And Picard. Apologizes. For telling Data he rambles.
I was a kid who was told I talked too much. Often. And I guess I didn’t realize I needed to hear someone say that it was okay to ramble until I heard JLP say it. By that point in my watch, I already understood what was so important about Data as a character. But that moment made me begin to understand what was so important about Picard. Cause damn. I didn’t even know I wanted to hear that apology until he gave it.
plot 150 words bed-sharing 200 words smut 800 words projecting my fears, insecurities, and anxieties onto a fictional character 9,356 words fluff 150 words someone who is good at fan fiction please help me budget my WIP, my family is dying

This is Dr. Sarah Stein Lubrano, and though I couldn't find the video that makes up this post, you can read/hear more from her here at her website:
on everything from emotional intelligence to instructional design, from autonomy at work to polyamory, cognitive dissonance to the role of f
had to share this
In every way this is set up to be a joke like any other short video, it even uses the trope of main character in a wig to represent their mom, but it isn't funny at all. It's just sweet and nice
✨ oh look, it’s another fanfic writer ask game ✨
has a comment someone left on a fic of yours ever made you laugh out loud?
has a comment someone left on a fic of yours ever made you cry?
and because i know we’re all egocentric, have you ever made yourself laugh out loud or cry with a fic you wrote?
what would this fic be about, based on the title? (asker provides fake fic title) (x)
if you couldn’t finish (one of) your wip(s) for some reason, what writer would you trust with finishing it, if any? (asker can choose what wip)
what is your favourite sense to incorporate in your writing and why?
what is you favourite sentence/paragraph? read it to us! (asker can choose what fic) (x)
if you got a computer virus that deleted all your fics but had just enough time to save one before they were wiped out, which fic would you pick and why?
the “you got kudos“ e-mail is usually much appreciated, but is there a fic you wish you didn’t get these e-mails for? if so, which one and why?
what word do you keep using like it’s going out of style?
what grammar mistake do you keep making no matter how many times your beta corrects you?
what headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?
do you make playlists for when you write? if so, share!
what trope would you refuse to write even if you were paid to do it?
describe (one of) your wip(s) in the weirdest/most contrived way possible! (asker can choose what wip)
Here’s an ask game to keep me distracted and away from other social media sites today.
HELL YEAH A GOOD DAY!

the default way for things to taste is good. we know this because "tasty" means something tastes good. conversely, from the words "smelly" and "noisy" we can conclude that the default way for things to smell and sound is bad. interestingly there are no corresponding adjectives for the senses of sight and touch. the inescapable conclusion is that the most ordinary object possible is invisible and intangible, produces a hideous cacophony, smells terrible, but tastes delicious. and yet this description matches no object or phenomenon known to science or human experience. so what the fuck
this is what ancient greek philosophy is like
False! “Sightly” is a positive word, so the default way for things to work is good as well.
The true most ordinary object is beautiful, horrible sounding, very smelly, intangible, and delicious.
I still don’t think it matches anything in existence but to truly understand a thing one must know its true nature.
"touchy" is also a word! however it's mostly used for things that aren't objects, like subjects of conversation. it either means "oversensitive and irritable" or "requires careful handling/wording, delicate"
i think the second one works well for our hypothetical object. so we can use that.
therefore, the Default Object is:
beautiful
makes a horrendous sound
smells absolutely awful
is very fragile
tastes delicious
and i still cannot think of anything that matches this
behold, the default object!
DEFAULT OBJECT FOUND
behold a man
Diogenes would be so proud, y'all
Kira: You're genetically modified? Bashir: Yes, now you know. Kira: What, did someone isolate the insufferable gene and decide they were going to make the single most annoying human possible? Bashir: Somehow, I don't think you're taking my tragic backstory seriously.
