why are people even questioning obesity in america
why is your tea liquidised?
ā¦.. Where exactly do you live that the tea isnāt liquid?!?
ENGLAND. WHERE IT IS IN A BAG AND YOU MAKE IT YOURSELF.
like what do you do with already liquid tea? Microwave it?
No itās sweet tea you drink it cold
WHO DRINKS COLD TEA???
HAVE YOU NEVER HAD ICED/SWEET TEA BEFORE?!?
so i reblogged this from a british person and iāve been laughing at their tags for 600 years
England, you stole tea from China. Ā Youāve had it a mere 4 centuries compared to their 30+. Ā Donāt play like youāre some kind of authority.
[skeletons ooh-ing]
Shots fired. World War Tea has officially begun.
#INTO THE HARBOR
Englad doesnāt own anything
except that time we owned most of the world
If I stop reblogging this, Iāve gone to the other side.
I have only seen this legendary post in screenshots, so today is a blessed day.
HAH
BOSTON TEA PARTY PART 2
HOLY HELL I FOUND IT
And this is why I love Tumblr
Drinking cold tea is like drinking cold hot chocolate. Sure, you *can* do it, but you *really shouldnāt*
Behold concerned Brit. Chocolate Milk
I only see this on pinterest omgā¦.
OMFG
@riverwriter
BEHOLD THE GREATEST TUMBLR POST
āworld war teaā is the best play on words iāve heard in weeks
this post is a wild ride from start to finish
I havenāt seen this since chocolate milk was added. Is that really just an American thing? Youāre missing out guys!
ššš
Cold tea
Cold hot chocolate aka chocolate milk
Cold coffee
I mean, do yall even know about cold water or is that an American thing too???
YOU GUYS DRINK COFFEE COLD AS WELL???
Does the rest of the world not use ice cubes? Do y'all not have freezers? What is going on?
They donāt even drink their beer cold, okay?
What do they fucking eat their ice cream hot too?
@queenpotato-mouth oMG
Itās back and improved
Somebody finally put this into words
Can I please get a new nurse?
how is this a universal experience?
male high school bullies: become cops
female high school bullies: become nurses
As a nursing student, I can attest to the amount of bullying and horrible behavior Iāve seen from fellow nursing students. One of the students in my schoolās nursing program got kicked out because she was bullying her own patientā¦
My mom is also a nurse and she has both witnessed AND personally experienced bullying from her fellow nurses. My dad is a nurse as well and has had his own coworkers try to sabatoge him.
This is called ālateral/horizontal violenceā and itās sadly prevalent in the Nursing profession.
it goes as deep as the billing offices for hospitals too. i cant tell yall how much highschool drama my mom has had to deal with in 20 years of billing.
I feel like talking about nurses bullying each other is missing the entire fucking point of this tweet.
āOne of the students in my schoolās nursing program got kicked out because she was bullying her own patient.ā Yeah, thatās the fucking issue right there. Itās not that they backstab each other, itās that they abuse the patients and they do it constantly. It is not a rare occurrence and rarely are they even reprimanded for it let alone kicked out of a program.
Do you know how viscerally upsetting it is to have been subjected to years and years of ableist abuse from someone just to hear that theyāre entering patient care? Do you know what itās like to have a high school bully walk into your hospital room with a big fake smile on her face? I do.
My cousin used to āplayā with me when she was 16 and I was newly diagnosed with POTS at 11 years old by triggering fainting episodes and then laughing about it. She is an RN now and at every holiday she shit talks her patients, often outright breaking HIPPA to do it. She calls them liars and exaggerators. She did it every year until we got disowned. Iām sure she still does. I used to have to leave early because I knew that if I had to endure one more second of it and I would rip her throat out.
The peers that mocked and abused me daily, calling me a faker and a liar for having an invisible disability, going into nursing is way more upsetting to me as a potential patient than them being catty with each other. Itās way more scary to me to have someone who never believed that I was ill in charge of my care than thinking about them fighting over a promotion does.
Bullies who go into nursing abuse patients the same way bullies who become cops abuse civilians. Thatās the real issue. Itās not horizontal aggression, itās medical abuse.
Itās almost like people who get off on abusing power over vulnerable people seek professions in which they have institutional power over vulnerable people.
Is this really so prevalent? Iāve never personally experienced it. Thatās terrible!

shoutout to my favorite coping mechanism, isolation
When the pip/taz wouldnāt mix then fucking sprayed all over the wall
I have never related to anything so much. Fucking pip/taz, are you even a nurse if it hasnāt made you want cry at least once.
I see a lot of people who tell young peopleāespecially young people who are heading into collegeāthat they shouldĀ ādo what they love.ā And theyāre right. You should do what you love.
But thereās a world of difference between doing what you love for you,Ā and doing what you love for a paycheck.Ā
I went to undergrad for graphic design and 3-D designāart and more art, I usually sayāand I loved it. You know what I didnāt love? Trying to collect my fees from clients. Trying to meet unrealistic, over-simplified or over-specific briefs from people who didnāt know what they were talking about. Coming home, having worked creatively all day, with no creative juice left for the things I wanted to do.
You know what I would tell you instead? Do something that you can be interested in, with people you like.
You donāt have to love it. Loving your work can be a lot, and it often means you have to live in your job 24/7. Some people can do that. Not everyone can, or should.Ā But if you can find work thatās interesting enough that it doesnāt feel tedious, and people you can enjoy spending your 9-5 with, and you can make money, thatās great! It means you can do the things you love for you.
Iām in law school now. Itās interesting work, and difficult, and I like doing it. I like how complicated it gets, and I like the stories it tells. But I donāt come home and read law journals for fun. I come home, and I sculpt, and I draw, and I paint, and I read. I do these things for me.
And I love it.Ā
Gods I wish Iād had this ten years ago when everyone was pushing for me to do art for a living. Probably wouldnāt have burned out as hard as I did
I was very fortune that my father taught me this lesson well before I had left home. He loved computers and understanding how things work. He turned his passion into a career and it drained everything he loved from it. Now he rather live in a mountain away from technology all together. Everyone told me should go to art school, but I could never see myself drawing for anyone but me. If I draw for other people the ideas are still mine and I need a lot freedom/liberty with the concepts. These are not good qualities to have in many art type jobs. So I do veterinary medicine instead. I love the animals/science, but when I go home I tend to leave my job thoughts at work where they belong. My personal life is very separate from work.
I think about this a lot
How Iām currently juggling life, work, and my mental state at the moment:
there she goes again, daydreaming about her future house and how sheāll decorate it knowing she canāt afford a house in this economy ever. and by she i mean me.

Iād like to introduce everyone to my new theme song
Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq. - Iāve No More Fucks To Give
Iāve tried, tried, tried and Iāve tried even more Iāve cried, cried, cried and I canāt recall what for Iāve pressed, Iāve pushed, Iāve yelled and begged in hope of some success But the inevitable fact is that it never will impress
Iāve no more fucks to give, my fucks have runneth dry, Iāve tried to go fuck shopping but thereās no fucks left to buy Iāve no more fucks to give, though more fucks Iāve tried to get, Iām over my fuck budget and Iām now in fucking debt
I strive, strive, strive to get everything done Iāve played by all the rules but Iāve very rarely won, Iāve smiled, Iāve charmed, Iāve wooed, Iāve laughed, alas to no avail Iāve run āround like a moron to unequivocally fail
Iāve no more fucks to give, my fuck fuse has just blown, Iāve been hunting for my fucks all day, but theyāve upped and fucked off home, Iāve no more fucks to give, my fuck rations are depleted, Iāve rallied my fuck army but itās been fucking defeated!
The effort has just not been worth the time or the expense Iāve exhausted all my energy for minimal recompense The complete lack of acknowledgement has now begun to gall And Iāve come to realise that I donāt give a fuck at all!
Iāve no more fucks to give, my fucks have flown away, My fucks are now so fucked off, theyāve refused to fucking stay! Iāve no more fucks to give, my fucks have gone insane Theyāve come back āround and passed me while theyāre fucking off again!
Iāve no more fucks to give, my fucks have all dissolved, Iāve planned many projects but my fucks wonāt be involved! Iāve no more fucks to give, my fucks have all been spent, Theyāve fucked off from the building and I donāt know where they went!
Iāve no more fucks to give, Iāve no more fucks to give, Iāve no more fucks, Iāve no more fucks, Iāve no more fucks to give!

Caricatures of the Spectre of Influenza
So I put off getting my flu shot in 2018ā¦
Yāknow, I aināt around these parts too much anymore (Yahoo can go huff a dong), but I just wanted to tell yāall my tale of the 2018/2019 holiday seasonā¦
December 17-20: Got the flu (later confirmed to be one of the strains protected by this seasonās vaccine). Felt shite, took cold meds, still felt shite but not so much that I could justify not starting the Q1 spreadsheets at work.
Dec 21: Knew the crackles in my lungs were pneumonia. Couldnāt keep my blood oxygen above 90%. Went to the ER that night. They wanted to send me home. I said āI know something is wrong, I would be very uncomfortable going home.ā They managed to find a bed in the hospital, said āfine, weāll give you observation until tomorrow.ā
Dec 22: Decompensated quickly. Parents apparently came up north, though I donāt remember seeing them before I woke up again. Couldnāt get aortic O2 saturation above 65% so I ended up intubated.
Late Dec 22-Early Dec 30: Completely unconscious, with the first two days on paralytics so that the ventilator did 100% of my breathing. The 36 hours on either side of my sedation are completely blank in my memory.
At some point my secondary infection (which was never discerned, though extensive testing for bacteria and fungi was done) caused me to become critically ill, and there were preparations made to fly my to Mayo for ECMO. Thankfully, the high-dosage steroid treatment they gave me when I started getting worse helped, and I began improving slowly.
Dec 31: I start to see the world again. My first āmemoriesā are strange delusions brought on by the anesthetics. I thought I had been in a coma for 6 years, and that I was in Cleveland. Why the fuck would I be in CLEVELAND?
I remember seeing the news, something about New Yearās Eve. I fell back asleep, into Seroquel dreams.
Jan 1: My memories start genuinely coming back. I discovered I was too weak to extend my arm fully, and too shaky to eat Jell-O. The Jell-O DID get delightfully wobbly, though.
Jan 2: Little Ravenās Birthday. Finally get out of ICU. Moved up to the general wards. Still canāt breathe easily. Food is vile-tasting. Can barely eat. Choke down a lemon bar and cry about how much better Brendanās were and how much I miss my brother and how I refuse to make my parents go through that again.
Jan 3: Manage my first wobbly steps with a walker. The floor hurts my knees and feet. The blood in my eyes is finally being cleared by my body.
Jan 3-5: Slow improvement. Slow for an otherwise-healthy young adult, at least. It feels like forever. My dad and I watched an unbearable amount of cross-country ski qualifying races for the Olympic teams. Thereās a terrifying night-vision cam in my hospital room, which wouldnāt bother me if it didnāt have a creepy smiley face.
Jan 5-9: Transitional care, getting physical and occupational therapy. I finally got home to my apartment (and cat!) that afternoon. I spent the next week regaining my strength and seeing specialists to try and find out why I got so sick. Consensus so far is āflu sucks and youāre unlucky?ā Iām hoping to have better answers next month at my secondary follow-ups.
I aged my husband and parents about a decade during my hospital stay. I missed a month of work and am still fixing problems that arose with the backlog.
My Christmas dinner was a 10% dextrose solution, since I was still paralyzed and couldnāt have anything down my NG tube yet. New Yearās Eve drinks? āGIVE ME SOME FUCKING WATER!ā - but not being able to have any, because I was still overloaded with fluid due to the standard protocol to prevent hypoperfusion when someone goes into septic shock.
Just to make it clear: I would not have survived without the tens of thousands of hours of training and practice that my medical team devoted their lives to acquiring. I would not have survived without the millions of hours of research and trials that allowed the machines that kept me monitored, cooled when my fever continued to spike, and breathing in a life-sustaining way when my lungs werenāt able to exchange gasses.
I am a fat bitch, but I am physically active, eat fairly decently, and donāt smoke or drink excessively. I am not someone who āshouldā be threatened by deadly complications due to influenza-caused pneumonia. Yet I was.Ā
And YOU could be, too. Get yer flu shot, if you can. If you canāt, yell at others until they do.
Itās not too late in the season, trust me. People still die in March. People like you.
whoa. what an intense series of events ā iām glad you made it through!
thanks for sharing
