To celebrate Inauguration day I'm sharing a great way you can share your voice with the world this year. Start a Podcast! I’ve been asked numerous times this week, how I started and while there are gobs of episodes out there with the same idea, I felt called to share my story and you may relate. I am not tech-savvy. I am prone to distraction and can be a bit of a commitment-phobe but I have stuck it out for 69 episodes and going on 3 years. I’ve had to take some breaks, I’ve changed the format and continued to evolve and learn, and have done this on a budget. I’m slowly growing my community and this podcast is starting to make a profit. So I want to tell you what you need and don’t need to start a podcast and how to dig into your purpose more. I want to help you avoid some mistakes I have made along the way and save you time and money. I’m also creating a handy dandy checklist and that is available at www.Thymeinthestudio.com And maybe you don’t want to start a podcast, there are still great writing prompts and ideas for evolving your creative endeavors. Later, she lived and wildcrafted in the Appalachians where she studied with folk healers and created herbal products to sell as she travelled the festival circuit with her herb booth. After practicing as a community herbalist for a decade, Lisa retuned to college and graduated from UNCA summa cum laude with multiple awards in biology and chemistry. After graduation she focused on studying pharmacognosy and phytochemistry. In addition to directing the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism from 2012-2020 and managing Elderberry's (a Rocky Mountain herb farm, retreat and education center in Paonia, CO), Lisa has also served as Adjunct Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and has lectured and taught classes at numerous schools and conferences around the U.S. She is the author of Herbal Constituents, a popular textbook on herbal phytochemistry for natural health practitioners, which is used by schools and universities worldwide. Lisa is available for consulting in medicinal plant chemistry, synergy, and formulation for the herbal and natural products industries. Lisa began studying herbs in the Wise Woman Tradition back in 1986 and fell profoundly in love with medicinal plants and natural healing. While studying wildcrafting and medicine-making with traditional herbalists from New England to the Appalachian Mountains for ten years, she began creating herbal products and traveled the festival circuit with an herb booth and as a workshop presenter. In 1997 Lisa decided to study botany, chemistry, and health sciences at the University of North Carolina, Asheville and graduated with the highest honors and several awards. Lisa combines a deep understanding of traditional, Vitalist herbalism with a scientifically-integrated and holistic approach to natural health. In addition to directing CSCH, Lisa was an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, and has lectured and taught classes at numerous schools and conferences around the U.S. She is the author of Herbal Constituents, the standard textbook of phytochemistry for herbalists.
