Imagine him seeing Percy asleep with a book on his lap, and being baffled that a kid might feel comfortable enough in his own home to be so vulnerable in the living room. 

Imagine Molly coming up to the attic to say goodnight to Ron and Harry, and Harry glancing at Ron when he hears her footsteps, trying to figure out what they had done wrong that day.

Imagine him asking George who does all the house chores, and thinking it’s a joke when George answers, “we all do.” 

Imagine Ginny pestering Arthur with questions over the Daily Prophet, and Harry trying to shoot her warning looks to stop it! but then Mr. Weasley looks up and patiently answers every single one.

Sirius plays violin.

When the other Marauders catch wind, they transfigure a violin for him as a joke

They figure that it’ll be funny, that it’ll knock him down a peg– just a peg, mind (it needs doing, on occasion)

“Haha, punk-rock Sirius black plays classical violin”

But when they give the violin to him, he gets all quiet

Remus, who was dubious about the plan from the start, watches with growing concern as Sirius stares at the polished wooden instrument in his lap

Realizing that memories of cruel words and the crack of wood on skin must be rushing through his boyfriend’s head

The Marauders wonder for a moment if Sirius will cry or shout or break the instrument over his knee

But instead a little smile quirks the corner of his mouth

He lifts the violin to his shoulder

And he launches into a fiery, wailing reel

Something wild and entirely muggle

Something that his parents would vehemently abhor

And everyone in the common room stops to watch as his bow frays on the strings, just barely keeping up with his left hand, which is nothing but a blur

And then he bumps into Draco and he thinks oh god this is going to be so weird

And Draco just acts like Draco, smirking and sneering “Potter”

Harry is confused and tells a recovering (and embarrassed) Hermionie about it the next day

Draco being raised by a mainly french-speaking Narcissa

Maman instead of Mom/Mommy

Lucius having to slowly transition Draco to speak predominantly English as he gets older

Draco getting a headache when he’s immersed in English for too long

Draco feeling like he’s missing a limb when he has nobody to speak in French with at Hogwarts

Him writing all his letters to his mom in French

Draco eventually realizing that most of the house elves are multilingual and him sneaking down to the kitchens to chat with them 

Draco teaching everyone in his House how to curse in French

Slytherins blurting out obscene phrases in French during frustrating classes

Not having to lock his journal because none of his housemates speak French

Draco getting frustrated and cursing in French beneath his breath

Harry staring on, flabbergasted, as Draco stomps past him, mouth going a mile a minute, spitting out beautiful, flowing words so rapidly and harshly

Draco being one of the best duelers of the school because he duels in French so his opponents can’t understand him and can’t counteract properly

He and Harry facing off because Harry duels in Parseltongue

When he and Harry eventually get together, he teaches Harry small phrases

Draco reverting to French in bed because it comes as first nature to him

Harry loving the filthy spew of typically elegant words coming from Draco’s mouth

Him kissing Harry and hissing “I love you” in Parseltongue (he didn’t mention it had taken him months of research to find the correct translation and pronunciation)
