The sheer amount of things you need to do every day is insane.
You need to workout everyday
Eat 3 healthy meals everyday
Meditate everyday
Write in your journal every day
If you want to gain a skill or progress in a hobby, you need to practice everyday or damn near everyday
Some chores need to get done every single day
Meds and vitamins every day
Grooming and skincare every day
Deal with family matters everyday
Try to talk to friends damn near everyday
If you have kid, forget everyday, you need to take care of that EVERY SECOND.
And on top of all that WORK DAMN NEAR EVERY DAY
And you need to sleep
By the time you sleep and work and commute at least 16-20 hrs of day are gone btw
It’s just not realistic bro.
#which is why my reading pile only gets bigger
If anyone knows where the op of this is now, let me know! I think about it all the time.
The Substance texts , self indulgent f2u credit appreciated
The corporate dictatorship in Brazil cannot be erased from memory. The film I'm Still Here exposes horrors that many want to sweep under the rug. Our fight is against oblivion! Fernanda Torres the greatest!!!!
And let's not forget to name the country that secretly supported the installment of the dictatorship in Brazil and even set a military operation to ensure the success of the coup: our friendly neighborhood US of A.

the average art student in Latin America will produce something a hundred times more satirical, smart, eloquent and thought provoking with a cellphone camera, $2 and three friends than any prestigious European director will ever manage to make in their lives
someday you will understand that humor comes from punching upwards and not from punching down on those you feel are below you
In brasil we have the cryptid of the headless mule, a mule/cow thing with fire instead of a head which haunts the countryside
Why can't you guys send me more asks like this. I should only get asks this bad ass.
brazilian indigenous folklore is so cool, especially when you look at it within the context of these stories arising post-1500, which is when the portuguese first arrived. we learn it at school as if they were fun little tales about bizarre creatures with powers but i’ve grown to see how much historical meaning they carry. please enjoy this post about old mythology and how it plays into racialized and gendered notions of brazil in the contemporary imaginary.
for example, there’s the the curupira, a young boy with fire hair with backwards feet that attacks woodcutters or anyone who damages his home (the forest). because his footsteps are backwards, following his tail will lead you in the opposite direction! this very relevant to the fact that the portuguese came into the country and not only slaughtered the indigenous populations but also destroyed every bit of nature they encountered to export back to europe. brazil (or brasil, from brasa or ember) is literally named after the reddish color of the wood from a tree that was chopped down to near extinction after the arrival of the portuguese.
my favorite one as a gender person is the boto cor de rosa, or the amazon river dolphin. because first of all this is the cuntiest animal ever.
the story goes that every full moon, this majestic creature emerges from the river and turns into a very handsome white man wearing a hat to hide the dolphin-ish features that remain on his face. he then attends a party and seduces a woman, gets her pregnant and leaves her behind to return to the river and never be seen again. a popular brazilian idiom, “filho do boto” or “child of the boto” is used to describe children with unknown or absent fathers. the allegory here is the sexual violence suffered by indigenous women at the hands of colonists, who of course did not give a shit about who got or didn’t get pregnant. note how the dolphin’s light and pink-ish skin is quite similar to a very white person’s skin tone (maybe even with a blush or sunburn from the tropical sun).
this plus slavery (and the sexual violence that came with that) plus mass immigration has made brazil a very highly miscigenated country, and a very racist one nonetheless. this is why your stereotypical picture of a brazilian person, particularly a brazilian woman, might be that of a scantily dressed black/tan/racially ambiguous woman who is very sexy and dances etc etc. the notion of brazilian women of color as sex objects has existed in our culture for a very long time and has clearly extrapolated our national borders—see what words/phrases in english have incorporated brazil, like brazilian butt lift, brazilian blowout, brazilian wax, all things associated with sex appeal and a particular brand of femininity.
please examine your outlook on the global south folks! it all comes from somewhere :)

"Good evening, Clarice. Are you familiar with the 1997 animated Japanese television program christened as Revolutionary Girl Utena? I assume not, After all I doubt the works of Chiho Saito reached all the way to your destitute white trash childhood home. Regardless, I think you'll like it, Clarice. The lead heroine shares some qualities with you, the plucky little lesbian orphan Utena Tenjou who wishes to become a prince. Tell me, Clarice, Is being FBI agent all that different from being a prince? They both entail rescuing the innocent after all. Or at least they're supposed to. And both are traditionally associated with men, are they not? The idea of a female prince is a revolutionary one indeed. So tell me, Clarice. Are you a revolutionary girl?"
