Relatively Definitive Things that are currently in Karaâs timeline pre-death based on stuff printed in the last 2-3 years.
Reminder: Timelines dont always merge prettily.
Kara is born and lives âonâ Krypton in Argo City, which always floated; its shields just get upgraded later. (Concept first introduced: Superman/Batman #19. 13 year old Kara appears in Action comic #1079 when Kal time travels back to Krypton. Also referenced in New History of DC, Supergirl: Universe End, and the Summer of Supergirl special)
Kara survives the destruction of Krypton with the rest of Argo City. She is sent away when her father is unsure he can guarantee her safety (born on argo story: Action comics#252, og born on krypton and survived on argo combo origin: Action Comics #869, current canon: Woman of Tomorrow #6, referenced Batman/Superman:Worldâs Finest #6, Supergirl:Universeâs End, and Supergirl (2026)#6, 11-15) Brainiac returns for Argo City shortly after her escape capturing a dying or reviving a dead Zor-El for using his technology. (OG: Action Comics #869, Current Canon: Supergirl (2011)#22; Cyborg Superman is referenced in Supergirl (2026)#6, his revived argo city mentioned in Supergirl (2026) #14)
Kara arrives on Earth at 15 close to her 16th birthday(original story: Action Comic#252, referenced New History of DC, and age at landing most recently referenced in Batman/Superman Worldâs Finest #8) Soft retcon: Kara begged to be around children. The solution: the Midvale Orphanage (Summer of Supergirl Special)
Meets Dick Malverne and eventually befriends and dates him (Action comics#256, his death is referenced in Supergirl (2026) #6)
Kara attends Midvale high at some point (referenced Supergirl 2026 #1 Supergirl Next Door)
Kara gets a Linda Lee Robot while in the orphanage. (Supermanâs Pal Jimmy Olsen #44, Referenced Supergirl (2026) #8)
Kara unknowingly gives Streaky a stray cat superpowers. (Action Comics #261 ) Campbell has stated that she treats this as streakyâs origin
Kara adopted by the amalgam Danvers (Action Comics #279, partial retcons referenced in New History of DC, Supergirl 2025 #6 and 8)
Kara befriends Allen (The Supergirl Next Door)
Goes on a date with Dick Grayson. This bad date kinda defines their relationship (Batman/Superman: World Finest #12)
Kara plays a part in sealing away Nezha. (Batman/Superman Worldâs Finest #1-5)
Kara meets and befriends Babs. (Worldâs Finest #169 Waid makes a reference about it in Batman/Superman Worldâs Finest #13 though I could see DC pushing rebirth back as their first meet up to not alienate newer fans (plus the og story feature more body doubles than Kara and Babs anyway.)
Kara meets and befriends Kid Thunder. (Batman/Superman: Worldâs Finest #19; referenced Supergirl (2026) #12)
Moves to Chicago and attends Lake Shore University. (Supergirl (1982) #1, referenced Summer of Supergirl Special) This is not technically guaranteed to happen here, but it is reference in the Summer of Supergirl Special, and is the run that contains the next event! Waid mistakenly/maybe soft retcons it to a medschool. It also feels harder to separate Karaâs last run pre death from Crisis.
Kara reconnects with Dick M. and learns that her high school sweetheart is dying of Cancer (Supergirl (1982)#23 Solo #7, referenced Supergirl 2025 #6) not 100% guaranteed to happen here, but it reads as right after they reconnected)
Dies in Crisis on Infinite Earths at 18 years old.
Somethings that were originally pre-death that I cannot definitively say when they happened because dc wants her to have died at 18, but canonically have happened at some point.
Meets Comet the Superhorse (Significant character WoT 6-8, referenced in Supergirl:Universe End, Supergirl (2025)#6) I assume this is pre-death. His story needs changed and tweaked, but I get why DC doesnât touch it. Granted if they can put him on a cover for a gag they can make retcons so it is age appropriate and less just weird.
Stanhope College (referenced Summer of Supergirl Special) Karaâs first college located 50 miles from metropolis, which could be fudged to midvale and keeping her age condensed. Kara graduates highschool early stays on campus in midvale since she is a minor and gets an associates. Takes maybe a year with AP credit. Her unknown degree is probably what gets her job at a news station.
Moves to San Fran and works at News Station (Referenced Supergirl (2026) #1 and the Summer of Supergirl Special.) This either happened later in the timeline or was the last jobs Kara remembered discussing with high school friends pre-death so that is why she brought it up. I would just have written it off as a summer internship.
Moving to New York to Working on Secret Hearts-(Referenced Supergirl (2026) #1 and the Summer of Supergirl Special.) This either happened later in the timeline or was one of the last jobs Kara remembered discussing with highschool friends pre-death so that is why she brought it up. Honestly a great summer job. âOh yeah i spent all summer filming non stop to be in a season of a soap operaâ
Moving to Florida to be a Student Advisor (referenced the Summer of Supergirl Special) honestly, this is the one hardest to work in with the retconning her back to 18 and her only being ~22 now and dc seemingly wanting to avoid deaging. Honestly, this should have been the run to rework and retcon into modern stories if DC is suddenly afraid of deaging not the silver age that gets reprinted regularly. I donât think they will ever reprint these amazing stories. Quite sad.
Things Pretty Definitively Erased
All interactions with pre-crisis Lesla Lar (24 appearances)
All interactions with pre-crisis Zora Vi Lar (6 appearances)
Nightflames appearance pre-crisis
All Karaâs pre-crisis interactions with her parents post argo city, and the story dependent on their gadgets for her.
Things Most likely erased
All interactions with Lena Luthor I (Lena Luthor post-crisis is closer in age to Lex and old enough to have a child maybe a few years younger than Kara. )
Decayâs appearance in Daring New Adventures (This could technically be Decay I)
All interactions with Nasty Luthor (Current canon Lex only has one sibling Lena I. Though this could exist as dubious canon since she is the daughter of an unnamed most likely disowned sibling.)
Most of Karaâs interactions with the Kandorian science guild (this is speculative based on council and Karaâs behavior in current run)
