nathan followed his dad’s footsteps and joined the army, eventually becoming a space pilot. he looks back fondly on his high school days when he had a shitty death metal band. not that he’s dissatisfied with his job, being a pilot is cool! and space is brutal. and dying in space is mega brutal. and also would help save the world and shit
murderface had like one (1) cool biology teacher who encouraged his interest in parasites viruses and other macabre things like that, it turned his life in a completely different direction and he ended up a molecular biologist. william has his fair share of academic rivals and agrees that one guy IS a complete waste of carbon and gleefully tells it to grace, much to the latter’s mortification (this is a ‘grace stays on earth’ kind of au). also thinks killing himself in space would be fucking awesome
it would be really funny (to me) if pickles still joined snakes’n’barrels, but after they broke up he went to college and got a Real Profession as a mechanic and this career turned out to be way more successful + he was always drawn to space, y’know? he’s still an alcoholic so he has to be a REALLY good mechanic to make up for it
I hc eridians get named after beautiful sounds of nature so their ‘human’ names are the best attempts to pronounce shortened eridian names with their singular vocal cords
skwis-gaar means something like ‘swift-wind-between-mountain-peaks’ and toki ‘the-first-pebble-in-an-avalanche’
as for their roles on blip-a I’m not really sure tbh. toki works fine as a mechanic but I feel like it doesn’t really suit skwisgaar?? tho they should both hang out in the engine room if they won’t die from radiation. maybe skwis is an astrophysicist and when crew started randomly dying he felt calmer staying with his mechanic friend idk. friendship is brutal
