what is your opinion on what happened to ribbit
do you think Jax ( and/or Kaufmo 👀 ) fucked her up, she fucked THEM up, was it a team effort, it was unrelated, what are your thoughts?
I don't think either of them really had any hand in her abstraction, I think Ribbit likely had other internal issues that the circus exacerbated until it corroded her resolve - maybe it made them much more irritable too, starting to push Kaufmo and Jax away, isolating herself etc. until their will to go on caved in on itself.
I could imagine Jax and Ribbit having had a fight or argument prior to this - or at least had accumulated a lot of sore feelings towards the other - due to the slow shift in their interpersonal dynamic. Jax might've said something hurtful in that deflective, self-preserving way of his that he didn't get to take back/fix by the time Ribbit was done for - because the way he reacted to the doors in ep6 were the first one resulted in traumatized, almost regretful staring, while the second one brought up visible anger.
I think Kaufmo blamed Jax for Ribbit's abstraction, maybe Jax blamed Kaufmo back - "you did this/you should've been a better friend/why didn't you stop it" type stuff - either way, the incident put a strain on their friendship.
I could also see them coming out of this coping in the very opposite ways we see in canon, which just makes them clash further - Kaufmo gets obsessed with finding an exit, horrified by what happened, worried he'll be next if he doesn't get out quick, while Jax embraces the surrealism of the circus and starts getting obsessed with this whole "everyone is a trope" mentality because it can't hurt so badly anymore when it's not even real and follows some kind of design, time to stop fighting back your purpose and play along.
In a way it was likely a wake up call for both of them, just in polar opposite ways.
