I don't really understand this whole "Gen Z is puritanical" thing that millennials are perpetuating. The biggest example I've seen them give is that Gen Z is less sexually active than other age groups, less people are participating in hookup culture and some people online have expressed their distaste for sex scenes in movies, which... Okay? I don't see how any of that is indicative of Gen Z being anti-sex and puritanical. I think the internet lost its capability to see the grey are in any situation a long time ago. Yes, hookup culture has had its negative effects on the dating scene and can be, I repeat CAN BE, not 'always and inherently is,' but CAN BE, negative for women. But not because casual sex is morally wrong or dangerous but because of men. The same way walking home at night is dangerous, not because the simple act of walking is dangerous but because of MEN. If a person wants to participate in hookup culture more power to them, idgaf, but I'm tired of being spoken to like a child or as if I'm naive for not wanting to have sex on the first date. That doesn't make me or anyone else puritanical. Stop throwing words around that have meaning to them just to make an argument. No one actually thinks that all sex scenes in movies need to be removed, yes some of them are unnecessary and don't drive the plot forward but who honestly gives a fuck? Whether or not another person is having sex is none of your fucking business. If someone having lots of sex bothers you, seek help. If someone not having sex bothers you, SEEK HELP. Jesus. And I know people are going to act like the point has just completely gone over my head but it hasn't you have probably seen a handful of young adults on your fyp who are genuinely anti-sex I don't doubt that, but your fyp is specific to you and its going to show you content similar to what you've already interacted with. Step outside into the real world and speak to real people, I've never met a single person my age who is anti-sex, anti-hookup culture, or anti-kink. I've met plenty of people who choose not to participate in these things, but not a single one of them is hostile towards those that do. Please, everyone just mind their own fucking business okay? I keep seeing a lot of anti-ace mentality along with this discourse, people spreading the idea that if you're not dating with the expectation of sex then something is wrong with you. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to have sex on the first date or ever even. There's nothing wrong with having sex on the first date or even before then! Stop trying to moralize sex and act like a sex life or the lack of one makes you good or bad. Let's try sex neutrality for a change. Do it if you want to, don't if you don't. WHO CARES!
