My partner's Catholic kinda (Italian) and in lieu of going to church or praying or doing anything they just punish themselves (typical) by participating in Lent every year. They gave up food delivery so now I gotta yell into the apartment "GEE IT'S FRIDAY, TIME TO BUY FOOD FOR MYSELF AND ONLY MYSELF, MMM SO HUNGRY BETTER ORDER EXTRA, GOSH I'M TORN BETWEEN [food #1 they like] AND [food #2 they like], WHAT TO DO..." and at first they were like, I'm not fucking rules lawyering this, you're not ordering anything for me and that's that. But later when they were high as fuck I did it again and they were like "Omfg please don't do that, I'm vulnerable rn..." but I got them to relent and admit they wanted the pork fried rice (tw: dubcon, intox) and now when I do this they're reluctantly like "I hear that the [food #1 they like] is really good" and I'm like "YUP THAT SOUNDS YUMMY FOR ME" and then I make a big thing about being full and not wasting food. It is a deeply stupid and needlessly elaborate ritual done for nobody at all, which I'm sure they appreciate as a Catholic
