The swords kissed and sprang apart and kissed again [...] steel rang, steel sang, steel screamed and sparked and scraped [...] A red flower blossomed [...] "Come on, come on, my sweetling, the musicâs still playing. Might I have this dance, my lady?â
Jaime III, A Storm of Swords, George R. R. Martin
Carol Peletier + her different smiles
Bu-bu-buttt how could YOU be Daryl's love interest? You got...the short hair...
Ain't you more of a-a-a...mother figure type anyway?
And isn't it more INTERESTING and ORIGINAL to see men and women just be FRIENDS?

down bad? no.
down lugubrious
One of my favorite moments. No hesitation or taking it back; just immediate "he's mine", period.
watched coffee prince and im not sure how i'll recover
for being an old kdrama from 2007, how is this one of the most progressive pieces of tv i've ever seen? i love how low key it is about most things - the characters treat each other with love and care, there's no family bullshit, the indie music and lighting and choi han-sung's tree house make things just feel like moments of summer passing over you
and although the synopsis seems kind of stupid...I never thought they would go that far for a kdrama from 2007. for the main lead to fall in love with what he sees as a guy, think about it thoroughly, and come to the bittersweet conclusion that even if his sexuality wasn't what he thought it was, he'll pursue the relationship anyway...I could only watch with dawning astonishment and joy. can't believe they handled it so well
and the second main pairing of choi han sung and yu ju...really grows on you. they're all fumbling and make stupid decisions but they really try to communicate and not hurt each other throughout it. it was the best kdrama ive ever seen
supportive dirty old uncle i love you
no bc Gong Yoo was WILD in coffee prince "You're gay, aren't you? Well, I'm not, so stop trying to seduce me."
FIRST OFF SEDUCE YOU???? HELLO???? SO U AGREE YOU ARE BEING SEDUCEDEDED????!!!!!
And also.... he says this as he is LITERALLY PUSHING HER ONTO HIS BED HIS THUMB MOVING ACROSS HER CHEEK -SIR!!!
AND!!! AND!!! HE'S BEEN CHECKING HER OUT SINCE LIKE.... EP 1????
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!

No matter the ship, I have exactly one jam, and that is having the hero gazing at the girl (or his "blood brother") in all kinds of awe, entirely gob smacked by them, in a delicious low and long burn. Coffee Prince has this in spades!
Apparently itâs controversial now to ship Caryl because theyâre a âsibling dynamicâ????
My dude, I shipped Caryl since the beginning, since I started watching the show. I was on the USS Caryl back when there was the active USS Caryl tumblr, the Nine Lives fanfiction archive (still on there!), Ramblinrose and Rhinozilla were my favs, âsorry, pookie,â the Cherokee rose, when we were all talking about getting that arrow/rose tattoo (and some of us didâlucky!)
I still ship Caryl and as far as Iâm concerned itâs canon romantically in my heart and thatâs all that matters. They can be each otherâs soulmates, best friend, everything-in-between and it is romantic. It has been since the beginning. You were just afraid to look.
A lot of people donât want to acknowledge that they have a problem with a male hero/heartthrob falling in love with a middle-aged, gray-haired woman despite the fact that said hero/heartthrob is also middle-aged. The âsibling,â âmother-son,â and sometimes even âplatonic onlyâ counter-arguments stem from deep insecurity, not textual evidence.
Literally a problem of ageism. Daryl is âhotâ and to them, especially early on, Carol wasnât the sort of person they thought he deserved. I suppose I could also argue that she wasnât âself-insertâ enough for the younger audience (i.e people on tumblr writing fanfiction) which is why so many of them ship things like *insert ship here* (itâs a Sunday morning, Iâm snowed in and canât leave my house, I donât feel like starting ship wars)
I think there is tons of evidence to suggest that these two are romantically coded, even from as early on as season 2. People just didnât want to see it because it was A) slow burn (it didnât happen fast enough) and, arguably the most likely, B) Carol was too old and ânot attractive enoughâ for Daryl.
đ
Daryl wasn't always in that place though! The main reason nothing like that ever happened is because they were never ready at the same damn time!! I consider it highly canon that both have been willing for a long time.
I think some people are stuck seeing him as the lost boy and not the man he became (which Carol acknowledges in Consumed). The age gap was always small, just that their life experiences (though overlapping) were very different in some important areas; mainly that Daryl was beaten by a father and Carol by a husband.
From Undead Walking. Streaming WAS NOT the problem. TV landscape my assâŚ
The Walking Dead just suffered a major blow (and it's a real shocker)
AMC's Walking Dead franchise has been a staple of TV for 15 years, but it has just recently faced an unexpectedly harsh blow.
Michael Patterson 20 hours ago
AMC's Walking Dead franchise is no stranger to the highs and lows of TV. After all, the original series just celebrated the 15th anniversary of its debut on the cable channel, with fans taking to social media to honor the incredible legacy that it has amassed over the years. And in 2025 that goes beyond the original show - it includes the spinoffs as well, particularly the newer ones as they serve as a continuation of the show's storylines.
But there is no disputing that The Walking Dead was a ratings titan back in the day, growing its audience consistently throughout its run - peaking at 17 million viewers for its season 7 premiere. It also encountered some lows, dipping into the 1 millions throughout its final season as less people tuned in on the night and the hold that streaming had taken on TV had tightened its grip.
That being said, one of its most popular spinoffs has unfortunately fallen to even lower territories - which has completely taken fans off-guard.
Daryl Dixon season 3 features the least-watched episodes of the whole Walking Dead franchise
Fans were genuinely stunned to see that the ratings for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 were significantly lower than anyone as expecting. Just 241,000 people watched the premiere on the night, which is just over half the amount of people who watched the season 2 finale the year before. Granted, the show is an AMC+ original and it obtains much of its audience from the streaming service (which releases the episodes a day in advance) but that has always been the case, raising some eyebrows as to why season 3's initial episodes were so much lower. Unfortunately, they continued to get lower.
The fourth installment of the season, "La Justicia Fronteriza", was watched by just 198,000 viewers. It's not an ideal number by any stretch of the imagination, but it also sets a record as the least-watched episode of any Walking Dead hour-long spinoff. And that's troubling considering that there is no specific reason as to why this happened.
Fellow TWD spinoff Dead City also had suffered a large drop in ratings when it returned for its second season earlier this year, but it had the excuse of that extremely long two-year gap between its two seasons - as well as hefty competition on Sunday nights from The Last of Us - to explain at least part of why that was the case.
Daryl Dixon doesn't have that luxury as it has become the only annual release left in the franchise, constantly releasing new seasons in September. Season 2 held steady, mostly matching the ratings of the last few episodes of season 1. That was unfortunately not the case for season 3.
Daryl Dixon's unexpectedly lower S3 ratings say more about the TV landscape than the show
While all episodes of Daryl Dixon's third season now rank among the lowest-watched episodes of the TWD Universe franchise, fans will understandably be surprised to learn how low the fourth installment went. But the truth is that this is less reflective of the show itself (which maintained an extremely high standard throughout season 3) and more about the shifting TV landscape, which has continued to experience rapid evolution in recent years.
Previous spinoffs such as The Walking Dead: World Beyond or the final few seasons of Fear The Walking Dead were nowhere near as popular as the likes of Daryl Dixon and they still managed to pull in nearly four times the viewers. Why? Well, because they didn't have to contend with streaming in the same way that Daryl Dixon has had to. Sure, streaming was around and popular while both of those shows were on (and it certainly somewhat explains why all of the TWD shows' ratings declined so rapidly) but with so much on these days - including Daryl Dixon's own early release on AMC+ - less people are inclined to watch on the night.
That doesn't meant that they won't stream on AMC+ the day after that or even record it when it's on and watch it later. It also doesn't mean that they won't buy the DVD or Blu-Ray when it comes out, purchase the show on digital, or wait for the complete series boxset after season 4 comes out. And, perhaps most importantly of all, it certainly doesn't mean that AMC won't make a lot of money selling the show to international markets for years to come.
Granted, the Walking Dead franchise has built up some signs of age over the years and it isn't the titan that it once was, but it's still incredibly popular and insanely marketable. These shorter, cinematic spinoffs allow the productions to save money on 16-22-episode seasons and larger casts while also allowing the incredibly popular TWD stories to carry on for many more years to come. Just because as many people aren't watching on the night doesn't mean they aren't watching.
The numbers are bad because the show is bad. Itâs that simple đ¤ˇđťââď¸
I am a fan of TWD and the only thing I'm stunned about is that this ratings drop has taken this long. The writing is BAD. As in, inane. Gone are the glory years, and for DD specifically, gone is our very favorite character and the connection that was there for over a decade.
We ain't dumb, you know. We know quality TV, and we know when it's not there anymore, AMC.

on that note i do really want jaime x brienne to have sex, gooner joker reasons aside, partly for jaimeâs character and his relationship to sex his whole life (again, unhealthy incestous relationship since like age 7) but primarily bc i want a character like brienne of tarth to not be desexualized
Yes, desexualized and made "too pure" because ugly people women don't have sexual desires that are above their station. And if they did, it would blow up on their faces instead of them being wanted in return and worthy (still looking at you, D&D).
Jaime Lannister: King of the Insult-Compliment
âShe hunched gracelessly in the saddle, but seemed to have a sure seat nonetheless.â â Jaime II, A Storm of Swords
âWell, she may be ugly but sheâs not entirely stupid. Jaime gave her a grudging smile.â â Jaime II, A Storm of Swords
âBut this was a woman. A huge cow of a woman, to be sure, but even so⌠by rights, she could be the one wearing down.â â Jaime III, A Storm of Swords
âThereâs a pig-stubborn bitch, he thought. But brave, yes. He could not take that from her.â â Jaime III, A Storm of Swords
âThe wench looked as ugly and awkward as ever, he decided when Tyrell left them. Someone had dressed her in womanâs clothes again, but this dress fit much better than that hideous pink rag the goat had made her wear. âBlue is a good color on you, my lady,â Jaime observed. âIt goes well with your eyes.â She does have astonishing eyes.â â Jaime IX, A Storm of Swords
ââ⌠Youâre not half bad with a sword, but youâre not good enough to take on two hundred men by yourselfâ.â â Jaime IX, A Storm of Swords
I just love it how often Jaime ends up thinking something more positive about dear Brienne when breeding out yet another insult *sigh*
Also, in marked contrast to the show, he doesnât SAY 90% of the rude things TO Brienne, he only thinks them to himself (and I LOVE that also in his thoughts her eyes go from âpretty ⌠and calmâ to âastonishing.â I see what youâre doing there, Jaime :D)
Yes, most of these things are thought only in his head and never said , but snark is his love language (apart from gifts and boduguarding).
Come to think of it, as its not Jaime's style to punch too down (apart from crappy guards who fail at their duties), it says a lot that he bothers to snark. Or, that he is just a tad obsessed with what the cow thinks of him.
