It was silent. So quiet that Ryan tried to make as little noise as possible, but the sobs that racked his body were overpowering. If the rival gangs could see him now they would never have believed that he was the infamous Vagabond.

Without Y/N he felt lost and being here, in their apartment surrounded by their belongings but without their bright smile and warm presence, all he could feel was emptiness and loss.

“Why?” He asked aloud, “why did you have to go? Why couldn’t I have saved you? I need you, god I need you so bad, I can't do this without you”

I just wanted to say that Uncle Iroh is by far my favorite character in this show. I love all the characters but honestly Iroh is just the best. He has so much power in side him but he knows to not let it go to his head. He’s so openminded and forgiving and happy even in the worst situations. I have such appreciation for him.

That A- might seem good to you, but that kid could have a whole series of degrading comments and ‘you could have done better’ thrown at them at home. You know what one of my most vivid memories of Year 7 science is? Throughout the year I’d gotten 96%, 98%, 99%, 99.6%, which was my teacher’s way of saying ‘I know you know your shit, but don’t slack off, I want to push you to be great’. Well FINALLY I got my prized 100%, and I packed it in my bag especially to show my grandpa. You know what he says? ‘So you ARE smart. Why couldn’t you get this mark on all those other tests then?’ The next year I had such high expectations on me, when I got 80% I was shattered.

Every time I get a report card, my dad points at the lowest grade and says “what happened there? Maybe we should start working on that next semester.”

One day, I get ALL As except an A- in English. I had worked hard for that A-, English was my worst class, and I had been getting consistent Bs and B-s for the past few semesters. He sees my report card, points at the A-, and says “what happened there? Maybe we should start working on that next semester.”

This, friends, is why I will be VERY stressed if I get an A- on a test or a paper, even if you got a lower grade. Because if all my grades aren’t perfect, I will get constantly harassed about it by my parents.

Can I talk about the fact that teachers will do this too? You get some good grades at the beginning of the year, and then whenever you have a bad day or slack a little they go “well look at that, why couldn’t you have done better?” Or the kids around you who happen to get a better grade than you on something and go “YES! I GOT A BETTER GRADE THAN ___ I MUST BE AWESOME!”

What you guys don’t know is that person has probably put extreme pressure on themselves already, and you have just made them feel like shit.

When i got to year 11 (but a bit before then too) things started to get harder and my grades dropped off just a little. Not a lot, nobody else really noticed. I beat myself up over it every time i didn’t immediately understand something.

I know I run a book blog so maybe this isn’t the right platform for this, but girls: Please look out for other girls. Tonight I was stuck at a bus stop in Shoreditch circa 2 AM and saw another young woman getting harassed by a drunk, aggressive dude, and at first I thought, “She’s got it under control.” But then he started touching her and I went “No, that’s definitely not right.” So I barged over and shoved him out of the way and said, “Beth?? Oh my God, how are you, I haven’t seen you since grade school!” And this girl I’d never seen before in my life threw her arms around my neck and whispered, “You are an angel, thank God.” We talked for fifteen minutes, the creep lost interest, I watched her get on the bus and I will sleep so much better knowing she got home in one piece. If you see something weird happening, intervene. The worst that can happen is embarrassment, and I think that’s worth the risk when you consider the alternative.

I sometimes get messages about my fics and see other authors get messages like “oh my god im sorry to bother you but-” or apologizing profusely for sending multiple asks.

I promise you guys. Absolutely 0 writers are bothered by you talking to them about their fics. If you want to know a detail or are confused about something they are almost definitely sitting ready with an answer that they are excited to talk about.

Don’t feel like you HAVE to message writers (tho if you liked a fic a lot leaving comments is great encouragement) but never apologize for asking about fics or talking about them!
