One of the reasons I wanted to start this series is because I think readers often imagine writing as a straight line. You write a chapter, edit a few sentences, polish the dialogue, and move on. In reality, novels rarely work that way. Sometimes a single scene forces you to stop and question everything that came before it. Draft 03, Chapter 2, Scene 3 of Restless became exactly that scene for me.
On paper, the scene isn't particularly dramatic. Aiden has already endured another difficult day, and Ryan calls him with an invitation to get out of the house and spend time with him and Carry. Structurally, the scene serves an obvious purpose. It transitions Aiden away from isolation and reconnects him with the people who still care about him.
The problem was never the structure.
The problem was Aiden.

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been a little quiet lately, and I wanted to drop a quick update. I ended up taking a couple weeks off to dive into a little side project—something fun and lighthearted I started making just for my close friends: a small visual novel. It kind of spiraled into this funny, ridiculous (and chaotic) game for our friend group, and honestly? It’s been such a good creative reset.
After that, I shifted focus to school for a bit. The medical field isn’t exactly my comfort zone—honestly it’s way outside of it—but I’ve been trying to push through and stay on track. Studying’s been taking up a lot of my mental bandwidth lately.
That said, I’ve realized I really need to start dividing my time more intentionally between my creative projects, school, and hobbies. I tend to hyperfixate (any fellow creatives relate?), which leads to burnout fast if I’m not careful.
But! I should be back to writing soon. Restless is always on my mind, and I’ve got a lot I want to finish and refine. Thanks for sticking around while I recharge and rebalance. I’ve missed being active and sharing updates with y’all.

Taking a Weekend Off – Journals, Jumpscares, and Joy
Hey friends, just a quick update—
I’ve been deep in the Restless world lately, and while Chapters 13 and 14 won’t make the final cut for the book, I did just finish rewriting them in third person as a bit of an experiment. And honestly? It worked better than I expected.
Those chapters were originally pretty intimate—exploring a more vulnerable side of Adam as he spends the night talking with Connie after everything goes to hell. They were too quiet and reflective for the pacing I need in Restless, but they’re perfect for the tone of Sleepless (the possible sequel). In that story, Adam’s journey becomes a lot more fragmented, surreal, and introspective as he deals with the aftermath. So those scenes will absolutely be repurposed there—same emotional weight, just reframed for a story that can breathe with it.
I’ve also decided Sleepless will be written entirely in third person, but Adam’s journal entries—hinted at in Chapter 14—will be first-person. That way I can still tap into his raw, unfiltered mind without locking the entire book to his POV. It’s going to let me keep things personal and show a wider world that’s just as broken as he is.
That said... I’m taking the weekend off from writing. No outlines. No obsessive tweaking. Just games with friends and laughing too hard at REPO jump scares. We’re all obsessed right now—it’s been a chaotic, neon mess and I love it. Screaming about enemy placement, arguing over gear, bonding over that one hallway that everyone dies in. It’s been a blast.

Shifting Chapter 12 of Restless to the Beginning of Sleepless
So, I just went ahead and summarized Chapter 12 - Canyon Falls because, after some thought, I realized it's probably going to fit better at the beginning of Sleepless if I decide to continue the story. It makes sense since Restless is supposed to end at a particular point and keep the reader questioning Adam’s fate.
Chapter 12 follows Adam's attempt at living a quiet, isolated life in the mountains a year after everything goes down. He’s trying to run away from his past, but even in his secluded home, he can’t escape the guilt and paranoia. Meeting Connie and her father Carl gives him a taste of peace and normalcy, but it doesn’t last. Ryan eventually tracks him down, dropping the bombshell that Carry tried to kill herself after believing Adam was dead, and now no one knows where she is. The emotional wreckage Adam left behind is catching up with him.
Moving this chapter to Sleepless lets me expand on Adam’s internal struggle and guilt while also setting the tone for the sequel. It’s also the perfect point for Adam’s “new life” to start crumbling all over again. Sleepless is a possible sequel for Restless as part of a planned trilogy, but nothing is official yet.

The Atrium Project is a shadowy organization that claims to be a philanthropic research group focused on enhancing human potential. But in reality? It’s an underground cult-like organization obsessed with harnessing the power of Shimmers—eldritch entities that feed on human suffering.
👥 Who Runs It?
At the top of this twisted hierarchy is Vesper, aka The Architect. Cold, calculating, and ruthless, she’s the mastermind behind The Atrium Project’s mission to “Illuminate the Dark.” Under her guidance, they manipulate, bribe, and eliminate anything or anyone that stands in their way.
🧩 What’s Their Goal?
They want power. Absolute power. They believe that suffering leads to enlightenment, and by controlling Shimmers, they can “activate” people like Adam, turning them into weapons of destruction.
🔍 Why Should You Care?
The Atrium Project is the key antagonist in Restless. Their obsession with Adam and the Silver Serpent flute drives much of the conflict. They represent the danger of unchecked power and manipulation, all while pretending to be saviors of humanity.

So, Restless is a dark and twisted revenge tale where Adam James Carter, tormented for years by his bully Andrew Garcia, descends into madness and violence after Andrew murders his mother in front of him, pushing him to become the ruthless killer known as the Silver Serpent, systematically hunting down and killing everyone involved in his suffering before attempting to leave Angel City behind and start anew.
Right now, the book isn't published on any site since it's not finished. I just recently completed my outline for a big re-write, however, so I'm shooting to have it ready for an editor hopfully by the end of the year, so fingers crossed!
Hey y’all! Just wanted to pop in and say I basically took the week off to recharge and refocus. I’ve been working on Restless non-stop lately, and I honestly needed a break to breathe and clear my head.
That said, today I finally made some MAJOR progress and I’m so excited to share it. I finished Drea’s arc, Andy’s arc, AND Adam’s Vendetta arc, which feels so damn good to have done. So, I wanted to break down each one and show you what I’ve been working on!
Drea’s Arc
Drea’s arc was all about uncovering the truth. She starts off thinking Cider is nothing but a paranoid conspiracy, but the deeper she digs, the more terrifying the truth becomes. Hacking her way into Cider’s systems reveals just how dangerous they truly are. Their obsession with Adam and the flute, their plans to “activate” his abilities with the Shimmers—it’s way more than she expected.
As Drea dives into her investigation, we see her paranoia grow. Her online interactions in the dark web and deep web reveal how far Cider’s reach extends, making her feel hunted even as she hunts them. By the time she witnesses Adam’s transformation at the lake, all her doubts about Shimmers are shattered. It’s not just a theory anymore—it’s real. And it’s deadly.
Her arc ends with her making a desperate choice: reach out to Adam and warn him before it’s too late. She decides to meet him at the Black Tooth Grin bar, determined to save him from the darkness threatening to consume him. But will he listen to her, or is it already too late?

Andy’s Arc
Andy’s arc was pure cruelty from start to finish. Driven by his obsession with revenge over the accidental death of his younger brother, Jaime Garcia, Andy spends years tormenting Adam. His sadism isn’t random—it’s a calculated response to what he sees as the ultimate injustice.
But his obsession with making Adam suffer only ends up sealing his own fate. The lake scene is the culmination of all his hatred and rage. By murdering Adam’s mother, Teressa Carter, right in front of him, Andy thinks he’s broken Adam completely. But instead, he only awakens something far worse.
Adam’s transformation into the Silver Serpent starts here. The cold, calculated way he dispatches Andy’s enforcers and taunts Andy before killing him shows that something in Adam has snapped beyond repair. Andy’s death isn’t just the end of a bully—it’s the catalyst that pushes Adam into a world of darkness he can never come back from.
Adam’s Vendetta Arc (Act III):
This was the hardest arc to write, but also the most satisfying. Adam’s Vendetta arc is all about revenge and how far he’s willing to go to make Andy’s followers pay. And oh boy, does he make them pay.
It starts with Chapter 22 - Vendetta, where Adam’s spree of revenge begins. He confronts Amy Velasquez and Dan Anderson with a terrifying coldness, his actions calculated and brutal. You can see how much the Shimmer’s influence has twisted him.
Then comes Chapter 23 - An Email, where Drea finally warns Adam about Cider’s true intentions. It’s a moment of clarity, but Adam’s anger still propels him forward, ignoring the warning signs.
By the time we reach Chapter 24 - Vendetta II, Adam’s descent is almost complete. He takes down Sammy Ortiz, fully embracing the darkness within him. It’s not just about revenge anymore—it’s about losing himself to the power and the rage.
In Chapter 25 - Richard The Kid Dickinson, Adam targets the spoiled rich kid who thinks he’s untouchable. This confrontation is personal, vicious, and ugly. But Adam doesn’t care. He’s too far gone to stop now.
Chapter 26 - Anthony Lee is where Adam ties up the last loose ends. The final confrontation leaves nothing but devastation in its wake. By the end of this chapter, Adam’s transformation into the Silver Serpent is nearly complete.
And then there’s Chapter 27 - The End. This chapter absolutely wrecked me to write. Adam finds out Carry can’t have children because of his actions, and it shatters whatever humanity he had left. She leaves him, and Adam records a final video message that leaves his fate hauntingly ambiguous. Did he leave, or did he end his life? I’ll leave that for the readers to decide.

I’m just so excited to have these arcs finally done. It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I’m so damn happy with how it’s all coming together. There’s still more work to be done, but I feel like I’m on the right track.

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I last updated, but I’m finally back at it again. I’ve been focusing on my EMT class, which has been taking up a lot of my time and energy. On top of that, I got sick a few times due to food poisoning, which set me back a bit, but I’m feeling better now and ready to dive back into Restless! Here’s what I’ve been working on:
Andrew Garcia’s Character Sheet:
I finally finished Andrew’s character sheet! I spent a couple of hours fleshing him out, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. His backstory, motivations, and role in the story are starting to click into place, and now I’m looking at ways to dive deeper into his perspective. This will help readers better understand why Andrew does the things he does, and give his actions in the story more context. I’ve decided to add chapters from his POV to give him a stronger presence throughout the book. These chapters will shed more light on his choices and hopefully make his character feel even more integrated into the narrative.
Andrea Washington’s Character Sheet:
Next up, Andrea’s character sheet is officially done! Her role in Restless is becoming clearer with each detail I add. I’m really focusing on her as a hacktivist, someone who helps Adam navigate the world of online anonymity and OSINT. The more I work on her, the more I see how essential she is to Adam’s development and to the overall plot. Her expertise in staying hidden will play a big part in the story, especially when the stakes rise.
Adam’s Mother’s Murder:
One of the more significant changes I’m working on is Adam’s mother’s murder. In the first draft, her death felt random and didn’t carry the weight it should have. I’ve decided to go back and add scenes that establish her presence in Adam’s life, so her murder feels more impactful and tied to the story. It’s a tough moment for Adam, so I want to make sure her death resonates with the readers. I’m still figuring out how to best weave her into Adam’s past—whether through flashbacks or a more present role—but I’m committed to making her loss a meaningful turning point for him.
That’s about it for today! I’m feeling good about these changes and can’t wait to keep diving into the world of Restless.

Writing Update: Restless, Spin-Offs, and What’s Next
Took a few days off from writing to clear my head, but I’m back at it now. Spent the day editing Chapter 1, Scene 1, and I’m finally happy with how it reads. It’s polished, the flow feels right, and the character beats land the way I wanted. There’s still a ton of world-building left to tackle, but I think I’ve finally hit the point where I can start filling in the gaps without second-guessing every little thing.
On top of that, I started outlining for a new novel called Past Lives. It’s a spin-off from Restless that follows Elliot Carter—Aiden’s older brother. It’s a tragedy-driven story about love, loss, and the things we hold onto long after they’re gone. Without spoiling too much, it ties into the Shimmer lore from Restless, but with its own angle. It explores themes of codependency, self-destruction, and how the past can consume you if you don’t know when to let go.
I also jumped back into redrafting The Lady of Wight, which is shaping up to be even more haunting than I originally planned. It’s a ghost story, but more than that, it’s about trauma, vengeance, and the weight of choices. It’s been emotionally heavy to work on, but the story feels like it’s finally clicking into place.
Alongside that, I’m working on Silent Towers, a short novel that’s actually a spin-off of The Lady of Wight. It expands on some of the dreamlike, symbolic elements touched on in the main book, focusing on a man trapped in an endless cycle of loss and longing. It’s more surreal and introspective, kind of like a dark fairy tale, but it ties thematically into the larger world.
I’m also developing The Poems of Amanda Cunnings, a collection of poetry that branches off from The Lady of Wight. It’ll be broken into three acts, following Amanda’s descent into obsession and madness after encountering the Lady. It’s experimental, fragmented, and designed to feel like you’re piecing together someone’s unraveling mind.
The big news is that I’m planning to publish the first chapter of Restless on Wattpad soon. Hopefully, that’ll start bringing some attention to the story and help me get feedback while I work toward polishing the final version.
It’s a lot, but I’m finally seeing real progress. Here’s hoping I can keep this momentum going.

Rewriting for Draft 4 – Pushing Through the Heavy Stuff
Spent the day rewriting Chapter 3 (Scenes 1-5) and Chapter 4 (Scene 1) into third-person to prep for the massive overhaul coming in Draft 4. The switch from first-person has been tough, but it’s making the story flow better and allows me to expand perspectives beyond just Adam’s. I also updated some key events, making sure things lined up better with the bigger picture, and cut out scenes that no longer fit.
If I’m being honest, this book is taking its toll on me. Some of the themes I’m exploring are heavy, and they hit close to home in ways I wasn’t expecting. Carry’s abuse in Chapter 3, Scene 4 especially messed with me today. Writing it out, making sure it was handled properly—it was draining. I knew going into this story that it would be dark, but living in it every day is harder than I thought. Still, I’m pushing through because I believe in this novel. I need to get it finished.
On top of the rewrites, I finally sat down and fixed my template master document. I’ve been meaning to clean up some spelling and grammar errors that have been irritating me for way too long, and now they’re finally out of the way. Future templates should be much cleaner and easier to work with.
Overall, Restless is coming along, but I still have 65 things left to do—mostly location sheets, character sheets, and fixing minor inconsistencies. It’s a lot, and it feels overwhelming at times, but I will get through it. I’ve set the goal to finish this novel by the end of the year, and I refuse to let it slip away like so many of my other projects. No matter how heavy it gets, I’m seeing this through.

Restless keeps expanding, and I needed to get everything in order before I completely lost track of what’s what. Location sheets help me keep the world consistent, especially with all the places I’ve been fleshing out. Here’s what I worked on today:
Jasmine Hills Subdivision – Used to be a solid middle-class neighborhood, but now it’s falling apart. Crime’s creeping in, businesses are shutting down, and it’s stuck in this weird limbo between survival and total collapse.
Jasmine Hills Astronomy Hall – One of the few places Adam actually likes. It’s full of glowing planetary models, cosmic diagrams, and weirdly deep discussions on the universe. Definitely has a contemplative, almost eerie vibe.
Jasmine Hills High School Parking Lot – Absolute chaos. Rich kids get reserved spots while everyone else fights for whatever’s left. After school, it’s basically lawless—fights, vandalism, and a whole lot of stuff no one wants to talk about.
Jonnathan Bark’s Physics Classroom – Where Adam gets lost in physics and existential dread. Bark’s not the most exciting teacher, but his deep lectures on space and Sacred Geometry stick with Adam. Also, the place where Adam and Andy Garcia nearly throw down.
I also cleaned up my template documents since they had spelling and grammar errors that have been bothering me for ages. Small thing, but nice to finally get that fixed.
As for Restless, it’s coming along pretty well! I’ve still got about 65 things to do, but most of them are location sheets, character sheets, and small story inconsistencies that I just need to iron out. Hoping to start rewriting in about a month if everything stays on track.
Honestly, this project is huge, but I’m actually feeling good about it. Just gotta keep pushing forward. More updates soon!
