It was wildly misogynistic and a total misunderstanding of queerness and of the way female sexual and gender transgression has been oppressed. It erased the violence against queer women, which is pervasive today and definitely was back then.

I had experienced violence for my queerness. I'd seen a lot of women experience violence for their queerness. Corrective rape happened to people I knew. Their fathers, uncles, classmates. When my sister came out my mom slapped her so hard she fell. I'd been chased, harassed, and hit for my own relationships with women. And all of that was being erased with this rhetoric of "it's safer for women to be queer." And "women have it easier." "Lesbianism is acceptable in a way gay men are not." The violence enacted on us, the beating, the rape, the murder was all being erased while it was being enacted on us. We were told we didn't need solidarity, we didn't need activism because the things that were happening to us weren't happening to us and everything was fine, actually.

And this new rhetoric, while different, because it's about trans issues, is extremely familiar. It's basically the same exact rhetoric applied differently. And it's wildly sexist, just like the previous rhetoric. It doesn't bother looking into the actual experience of the people it's theorizing about. Because they're just silly women birthday boys after all, they couldn't possibly have anything worthwhile to say about their own lives.

And then once it repackages violence against trans men into the same as violence against cis women, it repeats these old tired talking points about female transgression and queerness that already existed, that they are never viewed as truly transgressive because as women they still have utility to the patriarchy, and can never be viewed as abhorrent the way others (only those assigned male) can be. It reduces violence against trans men to "violence against cis women" and then MINIMIZES that violence against cis women. It's bad theory.

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes covid, can only infect cells expressing a certain protein called ACE2

ACE2 is expressed widely in nasal cavity epithelial cells but not in olfactory sensory neurons. 

Seo et al. (2021) studied potential nasal targets for SARS-CoV-2 using golden hamsters as a model organism (commonly used as a proxy for humans in virology studies)

They found ACE2 expression in the main olfactory bulb epithelium (MOE, your “normal” nose organ) as well as the vomeronasal organ (VNO)

Several cell types in the VNO were able to be infected and they also found significant inflammatory activity (macrophage activation, apoptotic cells, etc) 

The specifics of how covid actually causes dysosmia are not known for sure but epithelial damage by local inflammatory immune responses likely plays a role, especially because sensory neurons themselves are not affected (Bilinska, & Butowt, 2020). Therefore I would suggest a potential similar effect of VNO dysfunction as we see in the main olfactory bulb

If it stands to reason that omegaverse individuals have functioning VNOs similar to members of the animal kingdom, then it is more than reasonable to conclude that covid may cause them to lose not only their main olfactory function, but also their VNO function as well

Purebred cats in the cat show circuit have to be fertile. They can't be desexed (spayed or neutered) and they can't have genetic conditions that would render them infertile, sterile, or unsuitable for breeding purposes. The point is to identify the best individual examples of a breed to maintain or improve the breed over time. It's eugenics, but those are the rules.

Essentially all male tri-color cats are sterile due to the fact that the genes for orange and black color in cats are located on the X-chromosome. Male cats typically only have one X-chromosome so typically can only have either black OR orange coloration (white fur and dilute colors are actually caused by a pigment suppressing gene that is located on a somatic chromosome, and the pattern of white patches is controlled by yet other genes).

So, typically, a male cat that has both black and orange in his coat has to have an intersex condition called Kleinfelter Syndrome, where his sex-chromosome genotype is XXY, rather than the normal XY. The extra X-chromosome renders these male cats infertile or sterile.

But Dawntreader Texas Calboy (DTC) is not an XXY male. He is a chimera!

Basically, very early on in development two male embryos in DTC's mother's uterus fused together. This happened so early that the new chimeric embryo developed into a normal kitten. But, because one of those original embryos had a orange X-chromosome and the other had a black X-chromosome, DTC was born with a tri-color coat.

His breeder assumed he was sterile and left him housed with her female cats without neutering him. When some of his female roommates were found to be pregnant, the breeder decided to take DTC to the vet and look deeper.

When she discovered that this beautiful cat was a chimera, rather than intersex, she decided to start entering him into the shows her other cats were in, and he started winning A LOT.

But when those jealous competitors complained DTC was barred from further shows on the basis of his coloration being a "defect" that was "undesirable in the breed".

But chimerism cannot be passed down! It is a random, extremely rare event that happens after fertilization.
