inspiration - (x)
This isnât really canon for Sora au, or anything else, this was just something that was floating in my brain, and needed out for me to focus on other things.
It was just an ordinary mirror, but there was something about her reflection made Lea pause. Frowning, she went to have a closer look. The furrow between her brows only deepened the longer she looked. There were dings on her shell that werenât quite where they should be, and there was something different in the face⌠she couldnât quite place it.
âWhy didnât you save him?â
Leaâs head snapped up at the voice. It sounded like herself, but she hadnât spoken the words. Then whoâŚ?
âYou didnât save him. You left him there. For her to find.â
The image of a crying infant, silhouetted by a burning home passed through her mind, and Leaâs stomach twisted. Slowly, she looked at the mirror again, and found the expression on reflectionâs face was no longer her own. Her reflection was not surprised, nor afraid.
She was angry.

About time she showed up.Â
Sora rolled his eyes at his sistersâ attempt at style, but smirked all the same. Of course she couldnât be bothered to slip in a sneak attack before her little speech. A better ninja would have disarmed the crazy ex-Foot using the advantage of surprise--but he was a little preoccupied at the moment.
Beggars couldnât be choosers, though, and at least Leaâs entrance seemed to distract the girl... Granted, it wasnât exactly the distraction he had expected, and his respect for Foot intel plummeted significantly as a result. It was one thing to mix up his sistersâ names--to mistake Donatella for Michelangela, or vice versa. Sure, they all kind of looked similar to the common idiot. But the Foot flunkie was even confused about their genders now? Did they really need--well, more obvious features--to stand out as girls? Idiots...
Moving to stand beside Lea, he shot her a quick, skeptical look before returning his focus to the pacing girl in front of them. Okay, she was really distracted by this. Had she been a new recruit...? Because within the Foot, a mutant turtle shouldnât be a big surprise.
âI mean, if sheâs really asking to be pinched...â he whispered in an aside to Lea.
âSora, no.â
âOr, you know, punched. I could pretend I misheard her.â
âNo.âÂ
Without looking, Lea sharply elbowed him in the side in answer, but the next moment the wind turned, and as Sora laughed and shrugged off her jab, the scent of canine reek bathed his tongue. In a moment, his eyes flashed green, and he gripped his sword in a tight fist, narrowing his sights and sweeping them over the rooftops. Cautiously, his tongue flickered just beneath the snarl that slowly curled his upper lip.Â
Well, clearly that plan was a bust.Â
There wasnât time to talk it out and hug their feelings, or whatever Lea probably expected him to do at this point. Only time for one thing.Â
Soraâs hand reflexively tightened on his blade, and he drew it to meet the girlâs with a metallic clash. âHey, if you want to leave the Foot, then be my guest! Shredder is the last person I want to help. Trust me.âÂ
Something about this entire confrontation felt infuriatingly familiar. Looking at her face, he could almost... recognize the fury in it. He had days like that, too. Nothing he was too proud of, looking back, but he understood a little of where she was coming from. Shredder messed with his life one too many times, too.
A few more strikes and clashes of their blades were exchanged, and he was surprisingly... impressed. She was good. Too good. She matched him at every move, and he could feel his frustration building as his skin began to crawl with the threat of scales--that old, desperate drive for self-preservation creeping over him.
Keep it together, Sora. This is nothing to get worked up over. So sheâs a good match? You like a challenge.
He needed some backup...

Smile, Sora. Remember your people skills.
Right. People skillsâŚ
Trying not to steal an obvious glance to where Lea was hiding, Sora offered his most diplomatic smile. Focus on the girl, convince her to move along before Rhazar decided to show up again, and then call Lea over when the roof was clear.
As it turned out, it wasnât that hard to focus on the girl. Something about her felt almost painfully familiar, but he couldnât quite figure it out. âŚMaybe he just liked her hair?
Quickly shaking the weird feeling of dĂŠjĂ vu, he instructed tactfully, âSo⌠You might want to go inside. Iâm with⌠animal control. And there might be a really big dog on the loose out here.âÂ
It took a mighty effort not to cringe. A big dog on the roof? What idiot would buy thatâespecially from a guy with a sword? At least it was Lea listening in to his speech and not Ella, because this wouldnât be the first time the âhuman diplomatâ angle didnât really work for him.Â
Seriously. What was so hard about saying, âLook. Thereâs a giant mutant dog that might eat your head. I donât want you getting in the way of my turtle-mutant sister and I as we cut her up into sushi with our ninja blades. Please leave. Thanks and have a great life.â?Â
A fanatic cosplayer?! Just who did this girl think she--
The unmistakable scrape of metal diverted Soraâs wounded pride back to the issue in front of him, and like any trained ninja, he reacted to the threat of a sword being drawn by reaching for his own. Gripping the handle of his blade, but not drawing it just yet, he narrowed his eyes first at the hilt of the girlâs sword, then her.Â
How did she know about them? His family.
âI didnât think there were still any human warriors left in the Foot...â he tested her, carefully selecting his words. If she wasnât in the Foot Clan, then her reaction would be clueless, but if she was... âOr are the Kraang still on backorder after the last time we broke Shredderâs toys?â
Smile, Sora. Remember your people skills.

Sora AU: Plan 11
âThatâs the thing, Sora. We donât want Shredder.â Lea said as she pulled off her scabbards and handed them to Donna. She fixed her sister with a determined look and nodded, continuing softly. âI want to do this, all right? Iâll do my part to get him back, and in the way we know and love him. And tolerate him.â Her face softened, and she gently brushed Donnaâs mask tails over her shoulder. âItâs going to be okay. Promise.â
Before she could have second thoughts, and ignoring anything else Sora was saying, she moved towards the table and got on top. Lea slowly took in a deep breath, clenching and unclenching her hands as she stared at the machinery above her, then to Donna. If Shredder could do this, then so could she, especially with her sister keeping watch.
âOkay, strap me in, sis.â
Donna struggled to keep her lip from trembling as Lea adjusted her mask. It was going to be okay. This was going to work. Lea was⌠was Lea, and there was nothing Lea had ever met that she couldnât take on.  Except maybe Sora.
Lea was ready, but Donna wasnât. Leaning forward, she grabbed her sister, holding her close as she willed her nerves to steady. âBe careful sis.â Loosening her grip, she offered Lea a shaky smile. âWe already canât afford to lose one overbearing bossypants. We certainly canât afford to lose two.â
Unable and unwilling to delay any longer, she swiftly buckled Lea down and fixed the connections to the machine into place. With a last long, worried glance, she vaulted the console and started the power cycles.
âGood luck,â she said softly. âBoth of you.â
They were out of time. Her heart pounding beneath her plastron, she held her breath and activated the machine.
A familiar pain seared through Katsumiâs head when the turtle flipped the switch, but he didnât have time to discern why it wasnât a new sensation. He had a âguestâ to deal with, and this time, there were no bonds to hold him back.
âYouâre even more stupid than I gave you credit for,â he laughed coldly, the internal voice barbed with poorly contained fury, and in this deeper level of exposure... fear. âGet out.âÂ
Seeking out the alien presence in his mind, he built a hard wall around it, then drew the walls down and in to keep it tightly contained. They may have taken all of his physical weapons, but here... He had the advantage.Â
Katsumiâs brow knit where he twitched slightly on the table, his fingers digging into the seamless metal surface just as he made a sharp mental stab for the invading thoughts encroaching on his own.Â
âGET OUT.âÂ

âAnd down goes another brain alien!â
Sora was too distracted with watching Donna plummet from a helicopter to pay Angie much attention. Suddenly, circuits fried in his ear, and he turned to catch Leaâs sharp look as she tore her blade free and chided over his shoulder, âStay focused!â
âYeah!â chirped the peanut gallery. âYou wouldnât want a brain robot toââÂ
âI GET IT!â he snapped back at Angie, furiously stabbing another droid and pretending, just a little, that it was the idiot who fell out of the copter and dragged his harebrained sister after him. âEarth is being invaded by crawling pink zits. Do you want a medal?âÂ
âWhatcha doinâ?âÂ
Sora almost streaked the wall with his brushstroke in his surprise, and swore under his breath as he carefully pulled back to shoot his sister a glare. They were getting real good at sneaking up on him now. Too good. Almost like real kunoichi.
âOhhhhâŚâ Angie gasped, covering her impish grin with both hands. âIâm telling Sensei what youuuu saidâŚâÂ
Sora only rolled his eyes in response and dabbed her nose with a generous glob of paint from his brush. She wouldnât actually tell; he knew that by now. As long as he let her stick around in trade.Â
He turned back to the concrete wall spanning one side of his room, adding a few more strokes.
âSoraaaaaâŚâ He could hear feet scrabble over before his bed creaked as she clambered up next to him, piping up, âSince when do you like pink?â
âI like red, donât I?â he grouched in return, smirking in spite of himself when her finger invaded his field of view to dab paint on his nose. âBesides, thatâs what color sakura is.âÂ
âSakura?â Angie turned away from him to look up at the mural in interest now.
âYeah, dummy. Iâm making a garden.â
Sora held his formerly white shirt at armâs length, locking it in a deadpan stare. There was literally only one thing his sisters ever washed. One. Thing. And somehow, they always screwed it up.Â
âELLA!â

Black
Send me a color and my character will give three things of importance in their life involving it.
If he was going to do this tonight, then he needed to leave prepared.
Stealing a hesitant glance over his shoulder, Katsumi made short work of the lock to the weapons closet. When he opened the door, he was rewarded with a neat array of weaponry, and he scanned over the small arsenal in faint admiration, impressed with what they had managed to put together living in the sewers. It didnât take long for him to spot the lotus insignia.Â
Deliberately, he removed every Foot clan shuriken concealed on his person, and after sparing the black, serrated disks a definitive scowl, exchanged them for the streamlined silver.
It was dark, but thatâs how he liked: no distractions. Just enough light in the black night enveloping him to make out his fatherâs faded smile in the photograph, and nothing else.Â
He stood as a frozen spectator, watching the water lapping the docks swallow his mother along with the wreckage of the Kraang ship. For a single heartbeat, his entire world seemed to sink with her, and he only had himself to blame for it.Â
Never make a deal with the enemy.
âMother!â Sparing Leanardo a sharp, withering glare, he charged past her and dove, plunging into the black depths.
Ever thought of genderbent Leorai? (but without the turtles with boobs XD)
Had lots of fun doing this one xD
Blue x)

Katsumi stood on the rooftopâs edge, arms folded as he looked up. Snowflakes melted where his breath fogged the air, but he wasnât interested in that; his eyes were trained on the sky. There wouldnât be any stars tonight.
Before he could feel too disappointed, a flutter of movement in his periphery was promptly met by the swift stab of his blade. Lifting the end of his sword to study it with glazed indifference, his eyebrows lifted at what he found.
Bright blue against winter gray.
Delicately, he plucked the origami crane free, turning it in his pinched fingers under a pretense of admiration while his eyes discreetly swept the shadows around him. They were empty now.Â
Smirking slightly over his shoulder, he crumpled the crane in his fist and dropped it in the snow, taking a leap off the edge, his retreat chased by a cold wind that swept a fresh cover over his tracks.
Katsumi sighed dismally, glancing at his mother in mild exasperation as he walked over to nudge the limp body at her feet with his toe. âBlue really isnât your color,â he observed, his eyes trailing over Shredderâs soiled kimono in disapproval. âMaybe you should stick to your business casual when you deal with insubordinates. You know silk is a pain to wash.â
Trapped. Trapped and choking and afraid and furious and everything was shadows shifting through green film. Coming for him, grabbing for him. He needed to hide. He needed to survive. But the jaws clamped over his throat wouldnât let go. They were too tightâready to crush and end him like the rats heâ
Free. He was free. The jaws released, and he could breathe. He twitched at a new touch, but through the shadows and green, he could make out blue.Â
âKatsumi, you have to go. Hurry. Donât let them take you.â
Go? Only one place to go⌠Only she could be trusted with it.Â
âComet.âÂ

PSA that Shredder Ruins Everything
Because of this drabble in the first half of the post by rogueshinobi
This started out as a sketch⌠and then I ruined the sketch after taking one blurry picture (I didnât realize it was blurry until it was too late, stupid bad vision D: ). Decided to fix the blurry pic up on the computer. Simple coloring/cleanup job quickly escalated into insane painting project. 11 hours later, this is the result.Â
Why do I do this to myself?
