oh hey look itâs a sketch I never posted
Poor Leaâs gotta âseeâ that smile somehow
Endurance
Lea brushed her thumb along the hands on her watch and frowned, then closed the cover with a decisive snap. Thatâs it; she couldnât wait any longer. With an impatient huff, she dug the watch into her pocket and stormed out of her room, keeping her ears open for any telltale sounds that always accompanied Angie and Ellaâs presence. She preferred that she didnât run into them right now.
They werenât getting it. Donna couldnât afford to be protected forever. While Lea wished she could let things be, and have her sister heal in her own time, time was not a luxury they had. Anything could change in a second. Someone who had been at your side for years could suddenly be gone. The place you considered a safe haven could be rubble in moments.
The problem was, her mindset wasnât going over well with her other sisters. It took a lot of convincing to continue with the morning training sessions once Ella found out, and now, it was one of the few guaranteed times Lea knew sheâd have time with Donna. The thought alone made her miffed, even moreso whenever she passed by the others, hearing snippets of conversation with their sister. If she could stuff down her pride long enough to realize it, she would admit that she wanted more moments like that, too.
But the world had changed, and if her sisters werenât going to do what was needed, then she was going to do it, herself.
Lea paused and brushed her hand along the wall as she heard talking around the corner. She could tell Donna was alone, given how she carried on her own conversationâand the lack of a second pair of footstepsâand just like that, Lea felt some of her irritation melt away. No Angie, no Ella, not even August. This, she could work with. She smirked softly, coming into view as her sister came close.
âNeed someone else to talk to?â She asked, tilting her head in Donnaâs direction.

âNah, just the good dump,â Donna said with a smirk. âAll the hazardous waste messes with the signal.â
She shoved a little more until there was enough room and flopped down next to her sister, propping her head on her arm as she looked into Leaâs weary blue eyes. âSeriously, sis, that was sweet and all, but you donât need to knock yourself out for me.â Frowning slightly as she shifted, trying to get comfortable, she reached under her shell and pulled Charlotte out, setting the plush scientist between them. Finally comfortable, she smiled. âIâm sure Ellaâd do it for you if you asked.â
Lea hummed in agreement and shrugged, relaxing again once Donna stopped moving her over. âIt was good exercise.â Smirking, she took one of Charlotteâs braids between her fingers, and softly batted it against her sister. âAnd the weatherâs getting nice again. Oh,â She paused long enough to yawn again, âAugust says hi, by the way.â

She should have known that she wouldn't be able to stay out late scavenging without Lea noticing. But she wasn't expecting to find her big sister passed out on her bed when she got home. In hindsight, she shouldn't have been surprised. It figured Lea would wear herself out searching rather than wait for a return call. Sighing, Donna sat down next to Lea, nudging her over until she had enough space. "You dork," she said, shaking her head. "Why didn't you wait till my phone was back in range?"
All her sisters were prone to go out without a word. Even she went out multiple times, so usually, she didnât worry too much. But usually, they had their phone on them; when they didnât answers calls or texts, thatâs when she considered it best to start worrying.
After a good couple hours of searching Donnaâs usual haunts, Lea still hadnât found her sister, and she still wasnât answering her phone. August had said not to think too much into it when she had stopped by; she could just be somewhere with no service.
âGo to bed, Lea. You look like youâre about to fall over.â He had said, nudging her to prove his point, âIâll let you know when I hear from her.â
She was tired, but far from put at ease. With a heavy sigh, she pushed Donnaâs bedroom door open, and set her katana aside before she crashed on the bed. If anything, she would at least put herself in her sisterâs way. Awake or not, she was going to know that Donna was all right.
So when she felt herself being moved aside, Lea immediately knew who the hand belonged to. She groaned and turned on her side to face her sister, blinking blearily until the purple mask came into focus.
âGeez, Donna,â She yawned, dragging a hand over her face as she mumbled, âwhere the heck didâya go? Jersey?â

Describe a thought or dream that would cause them to have a mental meltdown.
Honestly, being unable to stop what she thinks she can prevent eats at her. She the oldest, the leader, and with that she feels that she should be able to keep bad things from happening.
But they do happen. More than once sheâs been ineffective in her leadership, and was unable to keep her sisters on track, leading them to get hurt. More than once she was unable to save Katsumi, her city and world, and even her own mother.
Sheâs gone through a lot, and worked past them, but that doesnât mean the failures donât get to her. The fact that she believes thereâs always another way, and that most of her family is still with her, keeps her going.
As long as she believes the wrongs can still be fixed, she wonât break completely.

Looking at the window displays through telescopes wasnât as great as Lea thought it would be, but the hot cocoa sure helped. She took another sip from the thermos and brought her telescope back up, trying to locate the window that had caught Donnaâs attention.
Bright, fluffy dresses of taffeta and lace lined the display, all worn by headless mannequins in dramatic poses, with the windows framed with strings of lights and greenery. Lea smiled at the sight; they were all pretty, but she knew which one Donna probably had her eyes on. The fitted bodice would never fit any of her sisters, but the skirt had layers upon layers of tulle that reached the floor, with lots of sequins sewn in, making it glitter in the winking lights like a swishy, purple sky of stars.
Sighing, Lea brought down her telescope and scooted closer to her sister, batting away an incoming snowball that had come from either Angie or Ella. âWeâll get you something like that someday, and youâll look amazing. All the boys will have to pick up their jaws from the floor when you walk in.â Lea smiled and gave Donna a one-armed hug, and reached up to kiss her cheek. âJust you wait.â
She gave her sister another squeeze when she smiled back, then set the telescopes aside. No more âwindow shoppingâ for now. Now, it was time to answer the snowball fight challenge from earlier. âNow come on, you and me against them, what do you say?â
