TO CONTINUE TO BELIEVE IN THE SAMCAIT SHIP EXTREME SHPPERS HAVE TO DISMISS A-L-L OF THIS EVIDENCE AGAINST THE SHIP: PART I (October 2014 to December 2016)
Extreme shippers (ES) have a long history of working hard to dismiss the huge amount of evidence against the ship, typically using extremely flimsy rationales or conspiracy theories to do so. What is interesting however, is that each time the ship hits another “iceberg” (i.e., when more evidence against the ship emerges) it is like they forget that they themselves had invented their previous conspiracy theories and rationales and they get angry and blame Sam and Cait for leading them on. Then Sam and Cait do something “shippery” and all is forgiven. New rationales for the latest iceberg are constructed and they keep sailing along.
Once the ES dismiss an iceberg, they seem to forget about the previous ones. It is rare for them to consider ALL the “icebergs” together. Here is an (incomplete) list (in rough chronological order) of all the things the ES have had to excuse since October 2014 in order to keep their fantasy ship afloat.
2014
“Poolgate” video (i. e. Sam and Amy playing together in a pool on Oct. 8, 2014). Note that even though Amy said years later that Sam was not her “boyfriend” that doesn’t mean they didn’t date casually or weren’t FWB. If nothing else, it is evidence that Sam can have a flirty friendship with a woman (just like he has with Cait.)
Photo/ gif of Cody at a Young the Giant concert/ Timberland event with Sam (10.21.14). Cody’s mother said, “You make a great couple doll!” on Cody’s Facebook post of the photo from the concert (10.23.14).
Cody goes to a car show with Sam and is photographed at the Back to the Future exhibit and Sam comments on the photo “88.8mph girl…” (10.24.14).
Sam is reportedly seen kissing Cody at Matthew Morrison’s Halloween party. Photos of Sam and Cody at that same party (10.25.14).
Just Jared posts a story on 10.27.14 stating “ Sam Heughan and his gal pal Amy Shiels cozy up to a super cute puppy while attending the Saving SPOT! Dog Rescue Benefit held on Sunday (October 26) at Tiato in Santa Monica, Calif.” Cait is not with them at the time.
Sam out with Amy and other friends at Crustacean in Beverly Hills on 10.29.14. Sam and Amy pose as if they are a couple. Cait is not there.
Cody in Mexico with Sam while Cait is celebrating Thanksgiving in LA with her friends. A picture is posted of Cody with snorkeling gear and a picture of Sam in snorkeling gear (Nov./ Dec. 2014).
Tony’s friend Gerry B. innocently outs Cait and Tony by tweeting “Outlander to be screened in UK next year. (and I get to see who my pal Tony’s girlfriend is” [emphasis added] (12.10.14).
Cait, Tony and friends are photographed at an airport in December 2014.
Cait is seen in a photo with Tony and friends on 12.30.14.

Cait sitting on Tony’s lap in a New Year’s video is posted on IG 01.01.15 while Sam is seen with friends in the UK photo posted on 01.02.15.
Gerry B tweets a photo of Cait and Sam from the PCA and comments that “the one on the left [meaning Cait] is McGill’s girl…” When asked he confirms he meant Caitriona. [emphasis added] (01.08.15)

Why do you think Sam gets so little recognition for his asking. People are always saying he can't act. (This was deleted from my previous post)
Thanks for your question Anon!
Acting, like any art form is subject to people's tastes. So of course, some people are going to be drawn to different acting styles/ choices than others. That said, I do think that some Outlander fans who are angry or disappointed with Sam for various reasons allow their perceptions of his acting to be affected by their negative feelings towards him.
Sam Heughan’s Portrayal of Jamie Fraser
Personally, I think that Sam has been a fabulous Jamie Fraser and he completely blew me away with his performance in the Wentworth episodes in season 1.
Yes, like many actors, Sam’s performances can sometimes be uneven, but when he is at his best, IMHO he can be brilliant. To make a statement (like some of the haters have made) that “Sam can’t act,” one would have to completely ignore some of his more nuanced work. Unfortunately, I think that many of the Sam haters focus on his weakest performances and ignore his strongest ones.
One may not always agree with Sam’s acting choices as Jamie but as far as I can tell they are true acting choices and not evidence (like some haters claim) that he is “phoning it in.” For instance, some folks didn’t think Sam as Jamie appeared to be upset enough when Claire was captured at the end of season 5. But I thought that Sam as Jamie was compartmentalizing his feelings, like leaders do during emergencies.
I also think that Sam’s choice to portray Jamie as being emotionally reserved after Claire was rescued (and by that I mean for the rest of episode 512) possibly had to do with Sam’s interpreting Jamie as being emotionally “short-circuited” from the conflicting feelings he was experiencing.
In addition to all the anguish Jamie must have felt about what Claire had endured, and his probable (irrational) guilt that he had somehow not “protected” her from what happened to her, he was also most likely having to work hard not to have flashbacks to his own trauma with BJR.
Furthermore, Jamie may have experienced some conflict about his order to kill everyone in the camp, regardless of whether they had sexually assaulted Claire. Although Jamie thought it was the right thing to do at the time, he usually feels some guilt after he acts on murderous feelings.
Given all of the above, Sam may have felt that Jamie was so torn up inside that Jamie would believe it was better that he not express his anguish outwardly for fear that it would add to Claire’s distress. It’s also possible Sam felt that Jamie’s unconscious had taken over and he had gone to a numb place.
Again, one does not have to agree with Sam’s choices, but I believe he made deliberate acting decisions based on his knowledge of the character.
Sam Usually Transforms Himself When He Acts
Some Sam critics also claim that Sam is always just playing himself in his roles but I don't think that is true at all. Sam’s persona changes almost completely when he plays Jamie.
JIMMY DALTON. Sam as the villain Jimmy Dalton in Bloodshot had a completely different vibe than Jamie Fraser. Although Sam is charismatic and sexy as Jamie, he was creepy and unlikeable as Jimmy Dalton.
SEBASTIAN HENSHAW. In The Spy Who Dumped Me, Sam played the spy Sebastian Henshaw, whose persona was the polar opposite of Jimmy Dalton’s. Jimmy is resentful and arrogant; Sebastian is reserved and a little insecure. Jimmy is selfish; Sebastian selflessly puts himself in danger to protect Audrey (Mila Kunis) and Morgan (Kate McKinnon).
Although some folks thought Sam as Sebastian lacked charisma, I thought he was just being a good straight man, especially since he often had to serve as the brunt of Kate McKinnon’s improvised risqué jokes. (I honestly don’t know how he didn’t burst out laughing--although maybe they had to do a number of takes before they got to a laugh free one. 😁)
Even when Sam has an uneven performance, his acting choices are interesting
JACOB SILVER. Granted, Sam’s performance as Jacob Silver in When the Twilight Ends, was uneven. Still, much of that could be attributed to the fact that the producers took an unfinished film away from the writer/ director and released it prematurely, without proper editing and sufficient post-production reshoots and ADR (which is often used to correct accents in films).
In fact, Sam said as much in a comment on Adam Sigal’s IG:
“The sound edit and various scenes were unfinished. It should have never been seen like this. The accent would have been easily fixed and was supposed to be a rough guide track, not a final product.”
This explains a lot about Sam’s performance in the film, including his slightly off target American accent that came and went throughout the movie.
I also think that when Sam played a version of his next door neighbor Ralph, his physical mannerisms were too broad for the screen as opposed to a theater.
However, Sam’s physicality may have actually been a legitimate acting choice. Sam was probably trained in the Lecoq technique at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. I understand the technique focuses on how body movement can inform an actor’s portrayal of a character. It also emphasizes playfulness.
In the gif above, it is clear that Sam is using his body in a playful manner when he portrays Ralph. This style of acting can be fun for an audience, especially in live theater, but in a film, it can seem to be too overblown and hammy unless it is reeled in.
Still, there were other points in the movie where Sam fully embodied Jacob Silver, the protagonist of the film, during which we saw the fine actor that Sam can be when he is at his best.
Yes, there are times when Sam’s performances are uneven but when he hits the mark, he can excel as an actor.
Sam’s Drama Training
Sam went to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), which changed its name in 2011 to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). The RCS is currently ranked third in the world for higher education performing arts institutions by QS World University Rankings. I have no idea what the school’s ranking was back when it was the RSAMD and Sam studied drama there, but I suspect it was always an elite performing arts institution. So Sam must have had some talent to get into their drama program and to graduate with his BA in acting in 2003.
I assume that the drama program at the RSAMD was similar to the current one at the RCS, which provides an extensive foundation in acting, movement, voice, Shakespearean acting, acting for film and TV, etc.
IMHO Sam certainly knows how to act and has given some impressive performances over the past few years. I might not always agree with his acting choices but they seem to be well informed and if nothing else, they are (at least to me) always interesting.

Most of the time in a still photo close up, I can tell which character or behind the scenes by what Sam is doing with his face!
Specifically re Sam’s performance in “Never My Love,” I also think it’s important to look at not only Jamie’s reactions/feelings as is explained very well here, but the overall message Sam and the crew as a whole wanted to send. That being, this is very much about Claire. Her experience, reactions, healing.
Claire’s attack is not about Jamie. In the book, it very much is made about him in a lot of ways. (His immediate worry that she’ll fall pregnant and how he’d feel about that; his fear she’ll drift away from him if they aren’t intimate together literally immediately. Which, just, gag.)
In the show, it felt like a very conscious decision to underplay Jamie’s fury and those fears to focus on Claire, as this specific point is her story, not his. He’s connected to it of course, and of course as mentioned above will have his own reactions and memories of his trauma. But in that immediate aftermath, that specific episode, I think it was a very conscious decision to focus on Claire and not Jamie. Up to and including the final scene of him holding her and she says she feels safe.
And I, for one, very much appreciate that decision on all their parts.
For what it’s worth, as well, underplayed as Jamie is in the episode, at no point did he seem unemotional or “phoning it in.” He seemed like a man focused on attending his wife and giving her the space and support she needed as she needed it.
i had no idea this is what it said and now i’m emotional bye

hi! do u have or know where the sam + cait interview is with buzzfeed from years ago (cait was wearing a yellow dress) i’ve seen gifs of it but never the real video, and i’m dying to see it bc they’re so lovey dovey & flirty in it! thanks :)
Hiya Anon! Thanks for the throwback ask!
Unfortunately Buzzfeed never actually released the video for any of the interviews they’ve done with Caitriona + Sam. I have been yelling about it for years because HOW DARE THEY keep gold like that to themselves?! xD
I absolutely LOVE that interview though! It’s from SDCC 2014 and is priceless! Here are some of my favorite highlights:
Caitriona was excited to begin.
What was the first thing you noticed about the other person?
Describe each other’s character in one word.
Describe your first sex scene in one word.
Caitriona did a little re-organizing.
What’s the hardest part of making Outlander?
Luckily, the final question gave him a chance for redemption: What’s the best thing about your co-star?
And he wrote — a lot.
His list included: “Talent, Humour, Beauty, Dedication, and Stamina.”
With that, all was right again in the world of Outlander.
Classic SamCait.
Reblog must have, thanks for posting🤗❣️
I think this is still found on YouTube. Check out Agony Aunts and Who Does It (with the ping pong paddles) also Shipping gold.
Reblog because the video is not available to the fans!!! What are they afraid of????
His eyebrows. ❤ Her “Aww, babes!” ❤ REBLOG!
Hey! I was brought in to this show by my sister only last week, but while I went full samcait ship, she’s determined that his gay or bi and there’s no chance. Is there any strong evidence that supports Sam and Cait? Other than their insane chemistry that is... :) Thanks!
Oh God you mean a recap of 6 years removing all the bullshit they tried and are trying to sell? I don’t know if for you these are a strong evidence but I try... they denyed to be a couple like three times at least with an interview just for that, he had beards like he changes his underwear and she is supposely married to a not private husband/assistant that I think is gay.
Sam on november 2013 is gone in the middle of night at Caitriona’s apartment to help her with a spider and she thanked him the morning after
They watched the Wedding episode together alone with some bottles of wine.
They haven’t been filmed a love scene during this time but Caitriona already knew he’s a good kisser.
They always have some inappropriate comments about each other or sexual banter for two people who are not in a relationship “my costar, the hot one” “your boobs are pretty awesome” Sam always looks at her breast and butt and Caitriona likes to stare at his butt too...
His arm has always been around her for years and no rooms for Jesus, they don’t know what personal space is.
They watch the same TV series
She feels lucky to have him AS A PARTNER, EVERY DAY but she said NOTHING about her husband to be who was at the same table (but she thanked him at the IFTA last year with a fake kiss). And they said how they missed each other when they were working at other projects.
Sam reaction when Caitriona was talking about women and sex.
Sam showing his jealousy for an old date. They flirted all night and her supposed husband to be was there too as assistant with SamCait friend Marina.
Sam told Caitriona that she was too close to home in Turtle Soup scene in Season 3. Both interviewers were astonished, she was talking about having sex drunk... Sam in the past said that when she’s drunk her legs go but the rest of the body is fine LOL
Caitriona takes care of Sam when he’s sick
He was so worried for her neck during a facebook chat that he asked THREE times if she was ok.
She knows when he goes to the gym.
They don’t stay professional it seems, well at least in the first seasons... have you seen their tongues and kisses right?
And well he bought the apartment the production rented for her when she came in Scotland. If you need a full video or something else tell me :)
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏, amd @i-ship, we have more
Just wanna keep this....ALL THIS and add a fave....
The Heughans 😘
I know Cait is married to Tony but I believe they definitely were together! Still can dream though...

Stevie Nicks Is Back And Better Than Ever!
Stevie Nicks Is Back And Better Than Ever!
As if I even need to convince you anymore that Stevie Nicks is without a doubt one of the best genuine carbonated lifeforms on planet freaking earth, let me say that Stevie Nicks is without a doubt one of the best genuine carbonated lifeforms on planet freaking earth. Often times she is revered as the queen of everything, but that’s only because it’s true. She is beautiful in every way. Whether it’s her music or her just being her, Stevie Nicks is just amazing, through and through.
As of right now, she is on her full length tour and is creating buzz wherever she performs. Case in point, this performance we’re about to show you. What you’re about to watch is Stevie Nicks and her band take to the stage and perform the iconic hit Edge Of Seventeen. Stevie Nicks has refined her craft and we love every minute of it!
Knowing Stevie for 30+ years, I believe I can give you some insight into how I experience her as a friend and what she is like to just ‘be" with. First let me say that Stevie is one of the most loyal, generous and kind people I have ever known, and on top of that she is as funny and witty as anyone I know. I say this next bit with some trepidation as I don’t wish to sound odd, but working artists are different than people who don’t live and work in the arts; yet at the same time they are the same as every body else in life. They are sometimes grumpy, tired, bored and boring. Other times they are fun, happy, uplifting and positive. I guess what I am trying to say is that we are ALL basically the same. Souls traveling through this life trying to do the best we can and striving to improve to be become better kinder souls while we walk around in these meat suits, hopefully long enough to experience all the stages of life while keeping our fingers crossed that along the way we give love to others and are loved by others, and we get a smidge wiser along the way. But back to the question…(sorry but I awoke at 2:30 a.m. and am rambling obviously) When Stevie is creating or performing she is a gift from God to be around. And when she is hanging out on a day off, she is like any other friend you have known for decades. Sometimes I think Stevie is one of the most normal friends I have ever had. She is a genuinely beautiful and kind soul.

Love this pic of stevie
wait. when did linds say that btlh was about stevie? i'm so excited omg.
He hasn’t precisely. But these are the BTLH speeches which I’ve captured on video so far. It’s a ‘read between the lines’, ‘is he being general or specific?’, ‘has the meaning changed over time?’, ‘is he just crowbarring a song into a prior speech?’ type thing. I think it would be VERY easy to just see these speeches as Lindsey simply wanting to give some band history and relate it to a song which deals with that theme, even if that theme was initially about a different subject. He’s definitely connecting the song to the idea of the love the band (let’s be real, SnL) have shared and the bleeding that came/comes with that, though.
SYDNEY, 22nd October
Well, I think, um, you would have to say that one of the things that has always been appealing about this band, is that we have, to a fairly substantial degree, lived our lives in the public eye. We have been couples who were going through turmoil and had written about that and had put it out there for people to see. And I think it added an element to the music that people understood and empathised with and also identified with. And in order to do that, in order to continue for all this time, through break-ups, through people leaving and coming back - which would include myself, Stevie, Christine at various times -, you know, you have to assume there is a great deal of love. And yet with that love, there’s been a lot of sacrifice, a lot of heartache at times, so, you know, I would say we’ve all done our fair share of bleeding. While we loved. So we’re going to do a song that uses those words very much in that context. This is called Bleed To Love Her.
SYDNEY, 24th October
Well, I think one thing you could say about this band is that part of what has made us what we are, and part of what I think was engaging to the listener, was the fact that we were certainly writing and singing about our lives, but those lives were right there for everyone to examine. We were a band that, at one point, were two couples. Those two couples broke apart and all that kind of happened in slow motion in front of an audience. I think it added an element of intrigue, an element of empathy, to the listener. And I think it was something that the listener identified with as well. The other thing I think you’ve got to say about that situation is that we are still here, and still, apparently, fulfilling our destiny. And in order for that to have happened, I think there needed to be very, very much, almost at the surface but just underneath all that other turmoil, there was a great deal of love between all of us. And so with all that love, you know, I think you would have to say there were times when we have all had to bleed in order to keep loving each other and in order to do what needed to be done. And that is really what we celebrate in this song. This is a song called Bleed To Love Her.
SYDNEY, 25th October
Well, we are certainly a band that, I think, is defined by the audience, and in a slightly unique way. Um, the music that we’ve made, and the journey we’ve been on, has been about the music, but it’s also been about laying our personal lives kind of bare to the public. The fact that when Stevie and I joined, we were a couple, John and Christine were a couple. We all broke up soon after that and yet we had to make the decision and we had to have the fortitude to follow our destiny, nonetheless. I think part of doing that was writing songs about what was going on and being as honest about it as we could. And so I think that’s something that has continually intrigued the listener; I think it’s something that the listener empathises with. Also something the listener identifies with. And really, the upshot of this, the whole point of this, is that we are still here. Kind of amazing, really, in retrospect. Um, and I think the reason for that is that through all the turmoil, through all the struggles, the frustrations, the disappointments that have existed because of the dynamic on that one level, right below the surface there is a great, great deal of love. And that is what has propelled us as a fivesome through all of this, I believe. And it’s what the listener senses as well, I think. So because of that love, I think we’ve had to oftentimes bleed. As individuals and as a group. In order to fulfil their destiny. So this song is something that addresses that and celebrates it. This is a song called Bleed To Love Her.
MELBOURNE, 4th November
It’s an interesting thing about this group of people, that we have been making music as long as we have. And I think one of the things that has always set us apart is that we - not really by choice but by necessity - were laying our personal lives out there for everyone to examine. As part of our musical persona. And that was because when Stevie and I joined the band all that time ago, we were a couple and John and Christine McVie were a couple. And in a very short span of time, both of those relationships had broken apart. And yet we saw how much there was to do and we had this opportunity to fulfil our destiny, and so we wrote songs about each other and wrote songs about our pain, our bleeding, if you will. And so we forged a path in spite of the difficulties. And because of that, we’re still here. And I think what you have to realise and I think, probably again, it’s part of the appeal, whether it’s defined or articulated in the listener’s mind of not, is that right below all those difficulties and those challenges, and sometimes those animosities that have existed at various times, between the five of us, there is always, always a great deal of love. And, you know, when you love, you bleed sometimes. And that’s what this next song celebrates. It addresses the idea of loving and having to bleed in order to love sometimes. It’s the song Bleed To Love Her.
